Returned from Another World, Earth Turned Out to Be Quite the Fantasy Too. Also, Losing Heroines, Stop Looking This Way. - V3 Chapter 70
Chapter 70: Interlude – “Siblings Gathered?” ②
After Unkai left the room to prepare tea and snacks, Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi both wore expressions of pure annoyance.
“—That damn younger brother.”
“…Stupid little brother.”
“Call me by my name!”
Their brother pretended to cry, making their irritation worse. You wouldn’t find a more unlikeable brother anywhere.
“Anyway, let me sit down—wow, your room is still a mess.”
“Y-You mama’s boy! What part of this room is messy!?”
“Uh, all of it. My room is cleaner than this.”
“Why do you have photos of your room on your phone!? Don’t show me! Whoa, this looks so stylish! Wait, where are you even living? In a luxury tower apartment?”
“Nope, in the divine realm. My wives wanted a modern-style house. We’re even thinking of buying a house somewhere in Japan, but we can’t find the right property! So, sis…”
“Oh, sorry, but there’s a rule in Mukaijima City that guys who say ‘susa-susa’ can’t live here.”
“That’s not fair! Tsukuyomi gets to live here, so why can’t I? I wanna live here toooo!”
“You are so not cute, little brother.”
After getting enough attention for now, Susanoo seemed satisfied. He plopped down, avoiding the scattered sake bottles, and sat cross-legged.
Tsukuyomi also took a seat in a formal kneeling position.
“So now that we’ve deepened our sibling bonds, let’s talk about my best friend, Natsuki Yura. —What’s up with that kid? He’s terrifying!”
“Since when did Natsuki-kun become your best friend? You should apologize to him later.”
“That’s so mean, big bro! Natsuki and I have been best friends since we were kids!”
“Don’t fabricate memories with Natsuki-kun just because you don’t have friends.”
“I-I do have friends! The Yamata-no-Orochi is my buddy, my bro!”
“…Fine, whatever. So, how was it fighting him?”
“That kid is seriously dangerous. I mean, his holy sword is basically a god-slaying weapon. If he’d gone all-out, even if I used my full strength, it would’ve been bad. What the heck? Does going to another world make everyone that strong?”
Susanoo had invited Natsuki to the divine realm for their fight, but he hadn’t gone completely all-out.
He’d fought with his divine sword and used his powers as a god, but if he’d truly unleashed his full strength, he might have destroyed the divine realm itself.
Still, he gave everything he could give. There were no excuses—he had lost.
“I’ve never been to another world myself. From what I hear, it sounds pretty awful. For me, other worlds are best left in subculture fiction.”
“Yeah, maybe for you. But I’d really like to know how someone can stay human and still become that strong.”
“Most likely, Natsuki-kun didn’t intend to become that strong. But to survive in another world, he must’ve gone through some brutal experiences. That’s not the kind of power a kid should have.”
Susanoo didn’t say, If I went all-out, I’d win. In fact, he admitted that even if he used his full strength, if Natsuki did the same, he might still lose.
Though he didn’t say it aloud, both Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi couldn’t help but feel surprised. This was likely the first time they’d ever seen their stubborn, competitive little brother openly admit defeat.
“To begin with, the management of worlds is under the jurisdiction of the gods. Another world is just that—another world. Instead of summoning powerless children, they should’ve called strong people from the start.”
As Amaterasu saw it, she wasn’t pleased that her precious child (as she saw Natsuki) had been abducted without her knowledge. If it had been the typical scenario—building a harem and enjoying life in another world like in novels or manga—it might have been tolerable.
But for Natsuki, it had been the exact opposite.
Similarly, Yusuke Sado, another person summoned to that world, had also suffered greatly. Amaterasu had made sure to lodge formal complaints with the gods responsible for both cases.
“There’s no point discussing things outside our jurisdiction. Instead, let’s be grateful that he’s a good boy. Despite having such immense power, his heart remains pure. That’s something we should learn from.”
“That’s true. There are gods out there who think they can do whatever they want just because they have power.”
“Who are these gods? Sis, just tell me, and I’ll knock them out for you!”
“…Then go punch yourself.”
“Huh?”
Tsukuyomi stood up.
He hadn’t come to discuss anything complicated today. He was simply here to apologize for acting on his own in his sister’s domain.
As a god, he had his duties, but right now, he was also tasked with observing the actions of newly born gods. Tsukuyomi trusted in Natsuki’s good nature, so he wasn’t concerned.
“Well then, I should get going.”
“Aw, come on, bro. Let’s have a drink!”
“I’m driving back, so no drinking.”
“A god driving a car?”
“No, a bicycle.”
“You cycled all the way to this mountain house!?”
“Yes, it was great exercise. Lately, I’ve been busy creating exams, grading papers, and even handling transfer paperwork for troublesome students.”
“Being a teacher sounds tough.”
“It’s a fulfilling job. Though, personally, dealing with the messes you cause is even harder!”
With that, Tsukuyomi left the room, and Susanoo ran after him.
“Hey, Sis, here, have a drink! Wait up, Tsukuyomi! Let’s talk about how advanced today’s middle schoolers are!”
“I will not!”
“Can I come over to your place? Wait, you live in an apartment!? What, no car either? Need me to lend you some money?”
“I’m not struggling with money!”
Listening to the back-and-forth between Tsukuyomi and Susanoo, Amaterasu smiled wryly.
For all his bluster, Susanoo was definitely his big brother’s boy.
He just wasn’t great at expressing his feelings, which often led to him being brushed off.
Of course, if Tsukuyomi truly disliked Susanoo, he wouldn’t bother showing up at all.
“Honestly, men are such a handful. Well, might as well enjoy this gift sake—wait, seriously? The Yamata-no-Orochi actually brews sake? ‘Third-Generation Yamata-no-Orochi Distillery’—what kind of name is that!? And it’s shochu!? Make some Japanese sake instead!”
〜〜Afterword〜〜
To summarize these two chapters: Even the gods think Natsuki’s power is insane!
