Returned from Another World, Earth Turned Out to Be Quite the Fantasy Too. Also, Losing Heroines, Stop Looking This Way. - V3 Chapter 65
Chapter 65: “Isn’t That Seishiro and His Nephew?”
“Nice to meet you, Uncle. I’m Yoshimasa Kanna. Oh, wait, that’s not right. My father isn’t actually related to the family by blood. Using the Kanna name feels wrong, but I can’t use my mother’s Kazama name either, so… sorry.”
“…I’m Seishiro Kanna. I heard you’re my brother’s child. How old are you?”
“I’m five years old.”
The boy—Yoshimasa Kanna—was dressed in shorts and a hoodie. He adjusted his slipping glasses with a quick push and gave a polite bow.
“I never imagined my mother would be kicked out and my father taken away somewhere. Looks like my life is off to a rough start.”
“…Are you really five years old?”
“Yes, I’m five.”
The boy’s mannerisms and words were far too mature for his age.
“Uh, about your parents… I’m sorry. I wasn’t able to do anything about it. But I promise to take care of you. You can stay in this house, or we can arrange for another family to take you in. You can’t become the head of the Kanna family, but maybe a branch family without children could—wait, what am I saying to a child?”
Realizing he was discussing things way too complicated for a kid, Seishiro cleared his throat awkwardly.
He didn’t really feel sorry for his brother or his former fiancée, but for the sake of the child, he said it anyway.
Yoshimasa had been separated from his parents at just five years old. He must have felt incredibly anxious. More than anything, Seishiro thought the boy would surely resent him.
“Most likely, the Kazama family won’t want to take me in, and staying here… I feel bad for Grandmother. After all, I’m the child of a father who, despite being an illegitimate son, shamelessly took the position of heir from you, and a mother who was unfaithful.”
Yoshimasa adjusted his glasses with a quick push, a sly smile on his face that seemed far too mature for a five-year-old.
“Are you sure you’re really five!?”
“Of course. This is what five-year-olds are like these days.”
With another push of his glasses, Yoshimasa let out a sigh.
“Honestly, I’m grateful to be free from parents like that.”
“…What did you say?”
“My parents were trying to make me the head of the Kanna family and forced me to undergo training that was way too harsh for a five-year-old. Especially my mother. She was having affairs while telling me I had to become the family head. What a hypocrite.”
“…Wait, are you saying Akemi was cheating?”
It wasn’t the kind of thing to ask a child, but Seishiro couldn’t stop himself.
Yoshimasa adjusted his glasses again and nodded. “Yes.”
“She used my lessons as an excuse to meet men. I don’t think they were involved in spiritual matters. They underestimated me because I was just a kid.”
“…I can’t believe this.”
“Uncle Seishiro… Someone who cheats once will cheat again. That’s just how it is.”
“…Are you sure you’re really five!? Are you secretly someone who’s been reincarnated!?”
“What’s a reincarnated person?”
“Are you really asking that seriously? Or are you messing with me? I can’t tell anymore!”
Since Akemi was no longer around, Seishiro couldn’t confront her, but he decided to inform the Kazama family about everything.
“So, what do you want to do from now on? I want to support you as much as I can.”
“I have a dream for the future.”
“Oh? That’s good to hear, especially at your age.”
“I want to be a video streamer!”
“Ah, thank goodness. You’re still a kid after all.”
Seeing Yoshimasa’s eyes sparkle with excitement at the idea of becoming a streamer, Seishiro felt a bit relieved.
Still, he wondered what would be best for the boy and asked for some time to figure things out.
Later, when Seishiro’s mother talked to Yoshimasa, he said, “I don’t want to be separated from my friends.” So they decided to make that the priority for his future plans.
