Returned from Another World, Earth Turned Out to Be Quite the Fantasy Too. Also, Losing Heroines, Stop Looking This Way. - V3 Chapter 63
Chapter 63: “Isn’t She the Kazama Family’s Second Daughter?” ①
In one of the rooms of the Kazama family, who were affiliated with the Institute, the second daughter, Matsuri Kazama, was grinning from ear to ear, pumping her fist in victory.
“Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!”
It wasn’t the kind of voice you’d expect from a sixteen-year-old girl, but it was clear something had happened to make her that happy.
The Kazama family, though a relatively new clan, had become involved with spiritual matters when the current head’s great-grandfather started collecting cursed artifacts from overseas. By the time of her grandfather’s generation, the family had officially joined the Institute.
Now, though still considered a newer family, they had strong connections overseas, a large number of spirit users, and were even guiding those born into ordinary families with spiritual abilities. The upper ranks of the Institute held the Kazama family in high regard.
And right now, Matsuri, the second daughter of this esteemed family, was absolutely thrilled after hearing from her father about the disownment of her older sister, Akemi.
“…She played around with Seishiro-sama and had the nerve to live comfortably in the Kanna household? Serves her right to get disowned!”
Matsuri, typically a refined beauty with long black hair, was now wearing a deep, satisfied smile.
Her joy stemmed from her feelings toward her older sister, Akemi.
Matsuri and her younger sister, Yuzu, were definitely the biological children of Kazama Koutarou, the head of the family, but Akemi had a different mother.
Akemi was the child from Koutarou’s previous marriage, and though her mother was still alive, she had divorced him. Afterward, Koutarou remarried Matsuri and Yuzu’s mother, Naomi.
This in itself wasn’t too unusual, but Akemi despised her stepmother, Naomi, from the beginning.
Understanding that a teenage girl might not be thrilled about having a new stepmother, their parents didn’t reprimand her too harshly. However, Akemi’s hostility wasn’t limited to Naomi—it extended to Matsuri and Yuzu as well, with snide remarks whenever they crossed paths.
Though Akemi never resorted to violence, it was enough that neither Matsuri nor her mother had any warm feelings toward her.
Given Akemi’s behavior, Matsuri assumed that her older sister’s fiancé must be just as unpleasant. But to her surprise, Seishiro Kanna turned out to be a kind and sincere man.
When Matsuri first met Seishiro, she was just eight years old, and his warm smile left such an impression on her that she fell in love.
But reality was harsh.
Seishiro and Akemi were engaged as part of an arrangement between their families, and the moment Matsuri realized her feelings, she also knew it was a lost cause.
Still, Matsuri couldn’t stand her sister’s dishonesty.
Despite being engaged to Seishiro, Akemi was meeting up with his younger brother, Reo, and even with male friends from her school days.
Matsuri often thought she should tell Seishiro about her sister’s relationships with other men, but without solid proof, there was nothing she could do.
She mentioned it subtly to her father, who warned Akemi, but her behavior didn’t change.
Then, after Seishiro lost the Kanna family’s spirit sword in a duel, Akemi abruptly broke off their engagement.
What was even more shocking was that by that time, she was already involved with Seishiro’s younger brother, Reo.
When Akemi broke off the engagement, Matsuri pleaded with her father, hoping she could take Akemi’s place as Seishiro’s fiancée.
However, by then, Seishiro had been stripped of his position as the next head of the Kanna family and was disowned.
Her father still tried to approach the Kanna family with the proposal, but they rejected it outright, and that was supposed to be the end of it.
Yes, it should have been…
