Returned from Another World, Earth Turned Out to Be Quite the Fantasy Too. Also, Losing Heroines, Stop Looking This Way. - V3 Chapter 01
Chapter 01: “Finally Meeting God?”①
Natsuki Yura was nervous.
He was shocked when he was summoned to another world to fight as a hero, but even more surprised when, after desperately fighting and defeating the Demon Lord and killing a Demon God, he returned to Earth only to find his neighborhood overflowing with fantasy.
He had met with big-name gods and demons like Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi, Satan, Lucifer, Mammon, and Samael, and even encountered aliens.
He thought nothing could surprise him anymore, but he never expected to make an appointment to meet God.
The stress was so much that it made his stomach hurt from morning, and he could only drink miso soup for breakfast, which was unusual for him.
“…I can’t believe I’m going to meet God. Also, I don’t know why Koume-chan gave me these sunglasses.”
Koume, considering that God was her grandfather, offered to come along, but God had asked to speak just with Natsuki, so he politely declined her offer.
When he did, Koume handed him the sunglasses, saying, “You’ll need these.”
Ginko and Natsuki were puzzled and asked, “Why?” But Koume didn’t explain, only giving them a mischievous smile and saying, “You’ll understand when you meet him.”
Generally, Natsuki prefers to get unpleasant things over with quickly, so he decided to skip school and meet God.
Tsukuyomi also reassured him, saying: “Call me if anything happens.”
There were reasons Natsuki wanted to meet God.
First, since he was living with Koume, he wanted to greet him properly.
Another reason was that God knew about Natsuki being summoned to another world.
Although it was all in the past, Natsuki wanted to know why he was chosen to be a hero in another world.
He thought that no matter the reason, it wouldn’t be satisfying, and the time lost wouldn’t return, but he felt he had the right to know the reason.
He knew he wasn’t summoned just to be “the Hero of the Holy Sword.” The question, “Why was it me?” couldn’t stop bothering him.
Natsuki thought maybe God knew the answer, so he was a bit hopeful.
“…Ah, there it is.”
The place God had chosen was a coffee shop in Mukaijima City.
Its retro look made it a popular hangout spot in the neighborhood.
Natsuki usually didn’t drink much coffee, and when he did, he went to convenience stores or coffee chains, so a traditional coffee shop was something new to him.
He had heard girls in his class talk about fancy cafes with sweets, but this coffee shop was probably different.
The coffee shop’s name was “The First Wife.”
“…It sounds more like a bar than a coffee shop. And I have this weird feeling that something’s not right. Ugh, my stomach hurts!”
Even so, he had to enter the coffee shop to start.
“Here goes!”
He was probably never this nervous, not even when fighting the Demon Lord.
As he pulled open the classic wooden door, a small bell tinkled cheerfully.
“Welcome! Oh, what a cute guest.”
“Ah, thanks. I’m here to meet someone.”
As he entered, he was greeted by the rich aroma of coffee and a sophisticated woman behind the counter.
Her black hair was neatly styled, and she was tall and slender.
She wore a slim blouse under a vest, and her movements as she brewed coffee were smooth and impressive.
Natsuki felt like he had seen her somewhere before.
“…Meeting someone? A middle schooler in the middle of the day. Do you have your sunglasses?”
“Yes, I have them.”
“Then put them on.”
“Okay. —Uwa.”
As Natsuki put on the sunglasses, the woman snapped her fingers.
An overwhelming presence suddenly enveloped him, making it hard to breathe.
It was a force far stronger than Satan or Amaterasu, yet there was a gentleness to it.
“Hey, tone it down a bit, will you?”
The woman complained, and the intense presence from behind lessened, though it still felt suffocatingly powerful.
“…It’s hot today, but you look like you have a stomachache, so I’ll bring you some calming coffee with milk.”
“Ah, thank you.”
After thanking the woman, Natsuki turned around and understood why he needed sunglasses.
“Ah, that’s why.”
In a corner booth of the shop, there was a humanoid “something” that was shining incredibly brightly.
Realizing that this “something” must be God, Natsuki slowly and reluctantly approached.
“Please, have a seat.”
The voice was nostalgically pleasant, unnecessarily charming.
“Excuse me.”
As Natsuki sat down facing God—whose features were indistinct due to the brightness—he felt like he was being smiled at, somehow.
“Nice to meet you, Natsuki Yura-kun. Sorry for the dazzling halo. I’m God. Loved by everyone—yes, like a pop idol.”
