Returned from Another World, Earth Turned Out to Be Quite the Fantasy Too. Also, Losing Heroines, Stop Looking This Way. - V2 Chapter 43
Chapter 43: “You want to get back on your feet, don’t you?”
“So, Mama Haruko. You didn’t want the men to hear, right?”
“I’m a public servant. So I’ll keep it secret.”
“Also, if there’s anything I can do to help… please don’t hesitate to ask.”
Haruko thanked Koume and the others for their concern before she began to share what she had learned from Sayaka Onishi’s parents.
Sayaka used to tutor Natsuki, and since their families lived in the same neighborhood, they often saw each other. Their parents were close to Haruko as well, sometimes even going out for lunch together.
Haruko had known from conversations with Sayaka’s mother that Sayaka was dating Yuto Miyahara.
It all began when Sayaka suddenly stopped tutoring Natsuki after about a month.
Her parents were puzzled until Sayaka suddenly introduced them to Yuto. Afterward, she occasionally tutored Yuto. So far, no problem.
It was surprising that Sayaka had quickly stopped tutoring Natsuki, who she was very fond of, and brought another boy home, but they decided to watch over Sayaka, who aspired to be a teacher.
However, when Yuto entered junior high, he was introduced as Sayaka’s boyfriend, which confused her parents. But they thought it would be fine if the relationship was serious.
Yuto seemed like a good kid in front of Sayaka’s parents, but when they found out that Sayaka started a part-time job upon entering university and was giving her earnings to Yuto as “pocket money,” they warned her. However, Sayaka refused to listen, saying, “I’m doing this because we’re together” and “I have to support Yuto-kun.”
But since Sayaka was her usual self when Yuto wasn’t involved, her parents thought she would eventually come to her senses, like getting over a rash. They were worried that opposing too much might lead to her eloping in defiance, so they chose to watch over her.
“It’s like the classic story of getting involved with the wrong guy.”
“The fact that the other party is Natsuki’s classmate makes it complicated, but not all relationships between men and women go well.”
“Yuto-kun seems to have had many close female friends. Kazuto-kun is a reliable kid, but Yuto-kun has always been closer to girls than boys. But I never expected him to be dating Sayaka-chan.”
A few days ago, Sayaka suddenly felt lethargic and nauseous, mistaking these symptoms for morning sickness.
When she searched the internet about her worsening condition, it seemed to match early pregnancy symptoms.
She was distressed and kept it to herself, but having been intimate with Yuto, she was convinced she was pregnant.
“Why does it end up being Natsuki’s child, I wonder?”
“Even Aunt Gabriel would be surprised!”
“Please don’t tell Natsuki. Actually, it seems like Sayaka-chan had a fondness for Natsuki. More of an affection than love.”
“Really? Then why is she dating another guy?”
“It seems even her parents don’t understand why.”
Ginko had heard from Natsuki about Yuto’s charm, so she surmised that Sayaka was under its influence.
Until now, she hadn’t paid much attention, as those involved seemed to have brought it upon themselves, but Sayaka was a genuine victim.
However, Yuto’s powers had been sealed. She intended to report this to her father or the Institute, but she doubted if they would take action.
If Sayaka had already broken free from the charm, it would complicate matters. Counseling, or moving forward from being “caught by a bad man,” would be best, but the fact that she approached Natsuki claiming to be pregnant with his child left lingering concerns.
(Come to think of it, there are specialized counselors for victims like her. It might be better to introduce her to one, keeping the psychic elements hidden from Haruko.)
The counselor Ginko knew specialized in dealing with individuals affected by supernatural perpetrators.
Ginko herself had undergone mandatory counseling after her first encounter with a psychic criminal, and since then, she had continued to attend sessions every three months.
Yuto wasn’t the only one misusing his powers; there were victims who were men and perpetrators who were women.
Although it’s impossible to erase unpleasant memories or feelings, the counselor was adept at helping to lessen the burden of past events, treating them as mere records in one’s heart.
(If only she were more resilient, but perhaps it’s because she’s a normal girl. Personally, I found it a bit risky, but it’s not Natsuki-kun’s fault. Ignoring it would be unfair to Kazuto-kun, so I feel compelled to meddle a bit.)
Later, thanks to Ginko’s intervention, Sayaka regained her mental stability after receiving counseling.
〜〜Afterword〜〜
Sayaka will quietly receive support from the Minazuki family and find happiness in the future.
Originally, her story was planned to be more tumultuous, but it no longer fit the current narrative, leading to her swift exit.
By the way, Yuto has been blacklisted by the Institute. Congratulations! However, he’s already faced his punishment, so there are no further actions at the moment. But, if he does anything again, it’s a red card.
Since this story was quite dark, let’s lighten the mood with a preview of a lighter tale.
Natsuki: “Wow, it’s been a while since we’ve been to a public bath! Oh, Jack, you’ve got quite something there.”
Jack: “Please don’t stare too much. Even between best friends, there are things one prefers to keep private.”
Kazuto: “Public baths are the best, aren’t they? Let’s hit the sauna later!”
Natsuki & Jack: “—Eh? What’s that, a third arm?”
※I won’t specify what they’re referring to.
Natsuki: “Boom!”
Jack: “Bang!”
Kazuto: “Zoooooooooooom!”
Yuto: “…plop.”
