Returned from Another World, Earth Turned Out to Be Quite the Fantasy Too. Also, Losing Heroines, Stop Looking This Way. - V2 Chapter 11
Chapter 11: “Wouldn’t it be fine if it’s flashy?”①
The young man claiming to be Lucifer was a handsome guy dressed in a gray suit.
Since he referred to Koume as his “angel,” it was assumed they knew each other.
(Hmm? His power feels somewhat similar to Koume-chan’s, but are they family?)
Though there was a slight difference between demonic and divine powers, the essence of the power emanating from Koume and Lucifer was very similar.
“Ugh, you damn brother!?”
Hearing Koume reveal that Lucifer was her brother, Natsuki and Ginko were surprised.
However, upon reflection, considering their father had fallen and become Satan, it wouldn’t be shocking for the brother to have fallen too, and they tried to regain their composure.
Setting Natsuki aside, for Ginko, who until about four days ago was just a slightly psychic and cute police officer, encountering a hero returned from another world, an angel, aliens, and now Lucifer claiming to be a close associate of Satan, it was understandably hard not to be surprised.
Putting aside the humans’ astonishment, Lucifer turned his gaze to Koume and broke into a smile, disrupting his cool demeanor.
“I’m your beloved big brother, my sweet angel Koume-chan!”
“Ah, it’s okay. He’s just a Siscon.”
“Yeah. Let’s just treat him as a brother with a sister complex.”
Natsuki and Ginko decided to regard him not as a notorious demon but as Koume’s brother.
It was mentally easier that way.
“Who said I love you! You should just stay in the demon world and relax with that damn father of yours! Besides, powerful demons coming to the human world is against the rules! I’ll snitch to God!”
“That God you’re mentioning is the one breaking the rules, you know. And you too, my sister.”
“…Rules are meant to be broken. It’s God’s fault.”
“Yes, indeed. It’s that damn God’s fault.”
The brother and sister nodded in agreement.
Natsuki, feeling no hostility from Lucifer and thinking it improper to keep Koume’s brother standing at the entrance, said,
“Please, come inside.”
He invited him inside.
“…Thank you. Oh, this is just a little something.”
“Thank you for your thoughtfulness.”
Lucifer handed Natsuki a basket filled with apples.
Receiving it, Natsuki was surprised.
Strangely, he felt magical power emanating from the apples.
“These are a specialty fruit from a certain town in the demon world. Eating one will quickly replenish your magical power. They’re called Apoors.”
“Do you mean apples?”
“No, Apoors.”
“Why the rolling ‘r’… Well, anyway, thank you.”
“Ah, by the way, there have been instances where humans fought to the death over these Apoors.”
“Don’t bring something like that here!”
Though it seemed unlikely he would eat them, a gift was a gift, so he accepted it. He decided to store it in an item box later to ensure his mother wouldn’t eat it.
“Please, have some tea. It’s good.”
“Thank you very much. I love Japanese green tea.”
Natsuki wondered why he reacted like a foreigner, tilting his head in confusion.
Despite speaking fluent Japanese, the way he said “Japanese green tea” sounded oddly like broken English.
Perhaps, Natsuki thought, he was characterizing himself in a manner similar to Koume and decided not to point it out.
“So, why did you come all the way here?”
“Wait!”
As they sat around the round table in the living room and Natsuki was about to ask about his visit, Koume, for some reason, called for a pause.
“What’s up?”
When Natsuki asked, Koume, despite being an angel, flashed a devilish grin.
“First, let’s have a proper introduction.”
“But, my sister! I’ve already introduced myself.”
“Lucifer is more like a title! Introduce yourself properly. If you claim to be my brother, then you must have a name fitting for the Lucifer family!”
“But…”
“Come on, sayit! By the way, my magnificent name, Koume-sama, moved Natsuki and Ginko to tears because it’s such a wonderful name!”
“No, we didn’t cry!”
“Yeah, we didn’t. It’s a nice name, though.”
It seemed that, due to a penalty from God, Lucifer too must have been given a Japanese name, which he evidently did not like.
“Um, Koume-chan. You don’t have to force him to reveal it.”
“Yeah, it’s fine to just call him Lucifer, isn’t it?”
“No! That won’t do! Names are important!”
Watching Koume insist on him revealing his name, Natsuki and Ginko strangely became interested in what Lucifer’s name might be.
Both Natsuki and Ginko were already in good spirits. To cooperate with Koume, they started introducing themselves.
“Hello. I’m Natsuki Yura!”
“Nice to meet you! I’m Ginko Aoyama!”
With bright smiles, they introduced themselves in unison.
“And your name is?”
Lucifer made a face as if he had bitten into a bitter bug, but he must have thought it polite to introduce himself. With a face full of humiliation and in a feeble voice, he revealed his name.
“…Pureheart Lucifer.”
Natsuki and Ginko made awkward faces at the modern Japanese-style flashy name, saying “uwaa.” They certainly understood why he wouldn’t want to introduce himself.
〜〜Afterword〜〜
Just to be clear.
I do not intend to demean flashy names.
TLN:
I made a slight mistake. It seems his name is “Isshin (Pure) Lucifer,” but I don’t think the pun with “Isshin” as a name comes across well. Let’s just go with “Pureheart.”
