Chapter 06: “Isn’t that something you already know?”

“That guy, huh?”

Natsuki tilted his head in confusion upon hearing this. He had been informed that the investigation regarding Yuto had already concluded, but Miyako continued, as if to add more detail, 

“Well, the new investigation is almost finished.”

“Oh?”

“Yes. For reasons unknown, five days ago, psychics who had previously investigated Yuto Miyahara confessed to having had a physical relationship with him, though it was only for that moment, to their superiors.”

“Why all of a sudden?”

“I don’t know. Whether Yuto Miyahara made advances towards them or the women approached him, I can’t say, but it has been acknowledged there were flaws in the investigation.”

It seems that the women who had approached Yuto for the investigation ended up having a physical relationship with him, albeit just once. They must have realized it was a mistake. They pretended it never happened and reported no issues to the Institute.

However, for some reason, they suddenly began confessing five days ago.

Whether they felt guilty or there was another reason, Natsuki could only wonder at the strange occurrences.

“What did they say, though?”

“They said they made a move because they found Yuto Miyahara attractive… That’s all we know, and there’s no way to find out more.”

“What do you mean?”

“The individuals responsible for the investigation have been penalized. Their psychic powers have been destroyed.”

“That’s, well, something.”

“The Institute takes its pride too seriously, so it would have been better if the investigators had underestimated Yuto Miyahara, taken him lightly… Even if it’s unclear whether they were charmed by him or not. If deemed unfit as psychics of the Institute, they’re disposed of immediately. The Institute is a large organization, but it’s not the only one out there, so they must be concerned about their public image.”

“What a hassle.”

“Really,” Miyako shrugged her shoulders.

“In the past few days, the investigators conducted another investigation and confirmed that the women were charmed by him. The power is weak, but it can be compounded, and physical contact… including sexual activities, seems to enhance pleasure significantly and makes Yuto Miyahara appear more attractive.”

“Does that mean it’s highly addictive?”

“You won’t know unless you experience it yourself, but no one intentionally falls under charm.”

“Right.”

“Just a general idea, but even regular people who are closer to those with psychic abilities… roughly speaking, it’s believed that individuals with latent abilities, who can potentially delve into this side given the right opportunity, are more susceptible to his influence. However, it seems that if one can resist psychically, his power isn’t all that significant.”

“It’s kind of vague. So, if someone’s compatible with Yuto, the charm works well, but if not, it doesn’t work at all?”

“That’s what I think. In the first place, the power of someone who hasn’t controlled their abilities is just like that. That’s why they haven’t been viewed as a threat so far, and even if they have a bit of power, they’re left alone. If someone who properly possesses charm as an ability were to use it seriously, people without resistance would even rejoice in murder. If told to die, they’d happily comply. That’s how powerful it should be.”

“So, Yuto’s just a small fry.”

“It’s a harsh way to put it, but yes. However, even the weak can have victims, which is why I ended up investigating. Of course, this is in cooperation with other psychics.”

She further continued,

“But there aren’t really victims to the extent you’d expect. For example, Matsushima-san is infatuated with Yuto Miyahara, but she has relationships with other boys too. It’s just her nature.”

“Right.”

“Some people did fall ill and took a break around five days ago, so we don’t have the full picture yet… it seems a bit troublesome.”

“Will you provide care?”

“No, we’re strictly investigating. If someone has been forced or threatened with evidence, we guide them to the police. Of course, we do so without revealing our involvement.”

“I see. What about Yuto?”

“Yura-kun has already sealed Yuto Miyahara’s powers, right? So, we’ll just leave it at that. If he tries to continue as before and finds it strange that he can’t, that’s fine. If he suffers without realizing it, that’s up to him.”

Natsuki neither agrees nor disagrees. 

He isn’t particularly interested in Yuto, nor in the girls Yuto has been involved with. As long as it doesn’t concern him, that’s fine. It might seem cold, but he’s not the kind of person to go out of his way to help complete strangers.

“At the moment, those associated with Yuto Miyahara don’t seem to have very good behavior. Seasoned high school and college students, working adults, some even with records of being taken into custody. There are those who treat Yuto Miyahara as a good playmate. It seems women can tell when the other party is just for fun, so they decide to play along, seeking temporary pleasure… It’s regrettable, but not uncommon.”

“So, there are cases where Yuto is the one being played.”

“It seems so. Just between us, there’s a senior, a very popular soccer team manager.”

“Heh.”

“Yes, really. This person has been the beauty contest winner for three consecutive years. Actually, she’s naturally charming, or you could say, she has a constitution similar to the charm ability. But she hasn’t done anything wrong. Neither the Institute nor the Minazuki family has interfered. She’s been in a pure relationship with her boyfriend, whom she loves since childhood, and ignored Yuto Miyahara’s advances. There are people who naturally possess a charm-like trait. However, not all of them do bad things. That’s something to understand,” 

Miyako added, as if remembering something important.

“Yura-kun, please be careful too.”

“Why me?”

“Yuto Miyahara has been publicly calling you his childhood friend, and both Anzu Ayakawa-san and Asuka Matsushima-san have mentioned your name quite frequently… not in a good way, though. There’s a chance people might misunderstand and think you’re associated with Yuto Miyahara.”

“Okay, I got it. If anything seems off, I won’t hesitate to—”

“No! Even if ordinary people confront you, I hope you can hold back!”

“Eh?”

“Seriously, if you were to use your strength capable of defeating a land god on ordinary people, that would indeed cause problems.”

“I know.”

“Since you probably don’t want anything to do with Yuto Miyahara, leave everything to me from now on. I’ll handle the investigation and take care of what needs to be done, so Yura-kun, please continue living as usual. I just wanted to let you know that I’ll be conducting the investigation.”

“Got it. Good luck.”

“Thank you. Now, let’s head to class.”

Natsuki doesn’t know what will happen to Yuto in the future, nor does he care, but he hopes Yuto won’t cause any trouble for Kazuto or his family. And with that, Natsuki dismissed thoughts of Yuto from his mind.

〜〜Afterword〜〜

Yuto caused quite a stir, prompting a re-investigation. However, since Natsuki has already sealed him, if there are any victims, the Minazuki family will take care of them.

Most of those Yuto had dealings with were not of good conduct. 

Now that he’s been marked as a person to watch, his days of doing whatever he pleases are over. 

Yuto makes his exit at this point. 

As for Miyako Minazuki. She’s currently successfully mending her relationship with her sister. Please watch over them.
