Chapter 63: “Isn’t it important to speak clearly?”

The following morning,

Natsuki, having already exchanged contact information with Kaya Minazuki and Hiragi Yata, sent them a message early on, stating, “I know this is sudden, but today, I’ll be killing the god.”

Aware that it was an outrageous thing to do, Natsuki had decided to kill the local god today and wanted to get moving as soon as possible. 

If Jack and Koume were to ensure that Natsuki’s powers didn’t leak outside by setting up a barrier, then there was nothing to worry about.

Natsuki was ready to go all out. 

Fortunately, Kaya replied with a simple “I’ll be waiting,” while Hiragi asked if a pickup was needed, to which Natsuki replied it wasn’t necessary. 

Planning to kill the god meant there was no point in hiding his powers, so Natsuki intended to fly there. 

However, Natsuki wanted to keep Jack and Koume’s involvement a secret. Therefore, once he confronted the local god, he would signal them to set up the barrier. The plan was to have both wait near the Minazuki household. 

Ginko, accompanied by Nancy, visited Chief Aoyama.

Whether he was aware of the local god Mizuchi’s existence was unclear, but they went to inform him of Natsuki’s intention to kill the local god. 

“Well, it’s time to go…” 

Dressed in uniform, Natsuki stepped out of the house with Koume and Jack, only to sigh. 

And for good reason, as if lying in wait—Anzu Ayakawa was there.

“Kazuto… why are you here with her? I mean, why did you bring her along?”

“Sorry, Natsuki-kun. But Anzu said she wanted to apologize.”

“Apologize?”

Accompanying Anzu in her uniform was Kazuto. 

Although Kazuto mentioned that Anzu wanted to apologize, the atmosphere was far from apologetic.

In fact, Anzu was glaring at Koume, who was with Natsuki, as if she were an enemy of her parents. On the other hand, Koume seemed to pay no attention to Anzu, yawning indifferently.

“…Who is this person?”

What came out of Anzu’s mouth was not an apology but a question about who Koume was.

It seemed that Jack was not even in her field of vision.

Kazuto, too, looked at Koume and Jack, his mouth agape in surprise. 

It was understandable.

Koume was as beautiful and stylish as a model, and a blonde beauty at that. She was wearing skinny jeans that she bought yesterday while shopping with Natsuki’s mother, Haruko, paired with heels, a white T-shirt, and a beige blouse draped over. Simple, yet it suited her beauty well. 

Jack, dressed simply in slacks and a jacket, stood out as a tall, handsome foreigner, making his presence remarkably cool.

“You can’t just start by asking ‘who is this person?’

Natsuki said with an exasperated voice, which snapped Kazuto back to reality, prompting him to speak to Anzu.

“Anzu… you said you wanted to apologize properly, and that’s why I came with you. I’m sorry, Natsuki-kun. I thought it would be better if I were here since she said she’d come alone otherwise.”

“I’m sorry about this.”

“…It’s not something Natsuki-kun needs to apologize for, though.”

To be honest, Natsuki didn’t have the time to deal with Anzu, but if this could resolve things, Natsuki thought it might be worth it to accommodate Kazuto.

“So?”

“O-onii-chan, Anzu was deceived by Yuto! It’s not Anzu’s fault. That’s why she wants to start over.”

“That’s impossible.”

“Why?”

With a sigh, Natsuki couldn’t help but feel exasperated. There was no apology, and all Anzu did was insist she wasn’t in the wrong.

“Let me make this clear now. I will not forgive you for destroying our family. I don’t know what happened between you and Yuto when you were kids, but your actions caused someone to suffer. So, don’t ever get involved with me or my mother again. Don’t show your face. The fact that I won’t forgive you is absolute. Consider it a mercy that I don’t hate you.”

“But, that’s… Eh, but, I mean…”

Faced with Natsuki’s direct words, Anzu’s eyes widened in disbelief. Perhaps she had expected some kind words.

“…”

With a start, Anzu tried to say something but then, without a word, turned on her heel and ran off. 

In the end, there was no apology. 

And Kazuto seemed too dismayed to follow her.

“I’m sorry, Natsuki-kun, for getting you involved in this from the morning. But I’m glad you took the time to deal with it and expressed your feelings properly. After being told so much, Anzu must have something to think about too. So… thank you.”

“Why are you the one thanking me… And don’t cry, okay?”

Before he knew it, Kazuto was in tears, streaming down his face. 

Even as he hurriedly wiped them away with his sleeve, the tears kept flowing.

“I mean, she said she wanted to apologize, and you went as far as to express yourself clearly, even though I told her to apologize. In the end, instead of apologizing, she insisted she wasn’t in the wrong… It just felt ridiculous.”

Handing over a handkerchief, Kazuto took it, sniffling.

Kazuto wiped away his tears.

“Young man. I am Jack Randock Jasper Williamson Chamber Hanamaki, Natsuki’s best friend. If you’re interested, I can introduce you to some acquaintances for a good encounter.”

“That’s a long name!? And I had no idea Natsuki-kun had friends who are this beautiful and handsome! Ah, nice to meet you, I’m Kazuto Miyahara, Natsuki-kun’s like a brother to me!”

Natsuki’s brother. Kazuto, having been observed in his words and actions until now, seemed to have been favored by Koume and Jack.
