Returned from Another World, Earth Turned Out to Be Quite the Fantasy Too. Also, Losing Heroines, Stop Looking This Way. - Chapter 61
Chapter 61: “Everyone together is worth a hundred,” isn’t it?
“Ah, right… What happened at the Minazuki’s place?”
While Ginko’s cheek is being pulled by Koume, she asks doing the same, pulling on Koume’s cheek in return.
“Talking in that state, huh… Well, it’s fine.”
Natsuki starts to recount what happened at the Minazuki household.
About being watched, the matter of the sacrifice, the local god, and how there’s a desire for the local god’s death.
“Hah, quite the god, isn’t it? If he cannot maintain his power for even a hundred years by sacrificing humans, he should simply give up on his role as the local god.”
“…Koume-chan, you’re going to keep talking like that?”
“Individuality is important, after all!”
Unclear how she arrived at her current manner of speaking, Koume continues to assert her point despite Natsuki’s disappointed muttering.
“But really, a sacrifice, huh? Well, it’s not like such customs were non-existent until around the Showa period, but to think of doing such things in the modern era… it’s a bit hard to comprehend. Well, I guess noble families have their own circumstances.”
“Originally, we deities tend to keep our involvement with humans to a minimum. Local gods are born from nature, so they might favor humans,”
“…It’s quite convincing coming from Koume-san, who eats and bathes in a human household.”
“Haa?”
“Again with this!?”
“This is going nowhere.”
With a cough, Natsuki signals them to stop their quarrel and fix their posture.
“So, are you going to kill him?”
“Of course, I’ll kill them. Or rather, there’s no other way to save him.”
“Even if you choose to kill, there aren’t many humans who can kill a local god.”
“If it’s me, it’d be a piece of cake!”
“Then why don’t you do it, Koume-san?”
“Why should I bother doing such a troublesome thing for someone I don’t know!”
“…The end of the world is near when the descendant of a god is like this.”
Killing the local god might be acceptable.
Since Grandpa Nagi didn’t say that killing would lead to extinction, there must be a way to save them.
Natsuki only possesses powers that are lethal.
One is the holy sword, which holds the power of lightning, the strongest sword in another world. Having killed a demon god of another world with the holy sword, its power is proven.
However, it cannot be controlled. Even Natsuki, who had more power in another world than now, couldn’t fully control it. It’s not that it can’t be used, but it can’t be used to its full extent, and even then, the power is too strong to be half-hearted.
Another is the power of the Hero of the Sea, which encompasses water, ice, and darkness. There were others like the Hero of the Earth, the Hero of the Sky, and the Hero of the Forest, but frankly, they were weak compared to the power of the sea.
It’s perhaps because Natsuki is both the Hero of the Sea and the Hero of the Holy Sword that he was unparalleled in another world, or maybe there’s something else. It might have something to do with a pure lineage, but it’s unclear.
The power of the Hero of the Sea, as well, is something he hasn’t mastered yet. While the holy sword is used as a sword, allowing the use of its lightning in a simple manner, the Hero of the Sea specializes in using water, ice, and darkness magic. Being a hero, this specialization is incredibly powerful, with magic power on a completely different level, increasing its potency, but this also makes it difficult to find appropriate situations to use it.
The dark blade entrusted by the Demon Lord is more convenient to use in the current situation, but it’s questionable whether it can kill a local god. It’s not that the power is weak; it’s comparable to the holy sword in terms of sheer force, but the compatibility isn’t good, and the dark blade hasn’t fully accepted Natsuki as its wielder yet, so it can’t exert its full power.
“What’s the matter, thinking so hard?”
“Well, killing the local god is fine, but it’s the restraint that’s…”
“That’s crazy. No one thinks about holding back when it comes to killing a local god.”
“The control of power is unstable. Even the lightning I shot at Koume-chan was just borrowing a bit of the holy sword’s power.”
“You’re telling me you ‘just borrowed’ the power that roasted my prized wings. How much power do you have!?”
“Who knows?”
“So, Natsuki-kun is worried because… he can’t control his power?”
“In simple terms, the Minazuki household might end up being flattened.”
“Scary, this guy is scary! Koume-san, can’t you put up some kind of barrier?”
Natsuki looked at her with hopeful eyes, but Koume refuses, saying,
“I don’t want to get involved with troublesome humans.”
Just when he was wondering what to do, there was a knock on the room’s door.
“Yes.”
“It’s Jack. May I enter?”
“Of course. Please, do.”
“Excuse me. Haruko-dono has called us for dinner, and, well, I didn’t mean to eavesdrop, but I’m sorry.”
“It’s fine. It’s nothing to hide.”
“If you’d like, I can offer my assistance.”
“Eh?”
“I’d like to protect this town from my best friend’s attack with a cosmic barrier.”
“Jack!”
Natsuki looks pleased, but Jack’s expression is somber.
“How about it, Koume-dono? Instead of considering the Minazuki family as humans, could you lend your strength to us as friends, Natsuki and me? Honestly, given Natsuki’s tremendous power, I’m concerned.”
“Hmph! Fine! But in return, I want Natsuki’s blood!”
“Eh? I was planning to give my blood if it’s for healing your wings.”
“You fool! If Natsuki doesn’t agree readily, how can I lend my strength!”
“Not very honest, are you?”
Understanding Koume’s intention, Natsuki bowed his head.
“Thank you!”
With the power of newly made best friends, there was nothing to fear.
“Jack, Koume-chan, Ginko-san, I—I’ll go all out!”
“““No, hold back a little!!”””
〜〜Afterword〜〜
With gentleman Jack’s cosmic barrier and Koume-chan’s angelic barrier, the Minazuki family will somehow… be okay, it is believed.
I’m fairly sure a lot of the negations (or lack thereof) in the translations are incorrect. Shouldn’t they be telling him to hold back instead of going all out?
You’re right, I;ve fixed it. Thanks for mentioning it.
