Chapter 47: “Feels like it’s going to be lively, huh?”

After returning from another world, encountering aliens, battling an angel, and enjoying a feast, Natsuki, on the third day back in Japan, sat at the breakfast table with his mother, Ginko, Koume, Jack, and Nancy, a group of six.

“This is it! When it comes to a Japanese morning, it has to be rice with raw egg! It’s too scary to eat this abroad. Above all, Japanese rice is the best in the world! It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say it’s the best in the universe! Even God participates in rice planting experiences!”

“…God has too much free time on his hands.”

Koume, more than just eating, seemed to be inhaling her rice with raw egg, filled with amazement. 

Ginko finished her soft-boiled bacon egg and was pouring the remaining yolk over her rice, making it look delicious as she let out a satisfied smile.

Jack and Nancy were slowly enjoying their breakfast of toast slathered with plenty of butter, scrambled eggs, and corn soup.

Natsuki, like Koume, was having rice with raw egg but savored each bite wrapped in seasoned seaweed.

His mother was enjoying her meal with extra sprinkles on top, eating it with miso soup and bacon egg cooked firm.

“Ah, even the tea is delicious. I wouldn’t mind being a child in the Yura household.”

“Oh my, that makes me happy. I’d welcome a daughter like Koume-chan anytime.”

“Right! ―Alright, from today on, I am Koume Lucifer Yura! Nice to meet you!”

“No, it’s not ‘nice to meet you’. You’re planning to stay, aren’t you?”

“Stop being so stingy! I have nowhere else to go. And I’m a bit curious about this town as well. Let’s talk about the details some other time.”

It seemed that Koume was also being considerate not to talk about psychic abilities, aliens, or angels in front of Natsuki’s mother who was an ordinary person. 

Since his mother was enjoying a lively time for the first time in a while, Natsuki didn’t feel the need to say anything more.

Upon reflection, he realized that ever since his family had dispersed, Kazuto, who used to come over as his only friend, had been hesitant to visit, suspecting the cause might be his brother.

Although his mother’s friends, including Chief Aoyama, came to visit, there seemed to be some hesitation.

In that sense, Koume’s presence, who was relaxing as if at her own home, might be something his mother was happy about.

“Mother-in-law! In that case, I want to become a part of Yura family too!”

“Oh my, Ginko-chan, you’re more than welcome. I’ve always thought of you as family. You can come over to eat every day. Why not live with us?”

“―That would be awesome! Actually, I’ve been thinking about moving out soon. I have some things I need to keep hidden. I’ll pay for rent and food, so please, let me stay!”

“Fufufu. Alright, I’ll talk to Hisashi-kun about it.”

With a smile, Haruko prepared coffee for Jack and Nancy.

“Jack-san and Nancy-san, you’re welcome to stay at our place as long as you like. Koume-chan too, of course. It’s usually just Natsuki and me, so I get lonely.”

“…We appreciate your kindness. But, wouldn’t we be a bother?”

“If it were a bother, I wouldn’t offer. I heard you’re here for sightseeing, so please use our place as your base.”

“We’re grateful for your hospitality. Truly, you’re an amazing person, my best friend’s mother.”

“We’re thankful to have met such a wonderful person.”

It seems like everyone is likely to end up living at the Yura household. 

Back when there were four family members, rather than being lively, it was more about troubles and exhausting days. But with this group, they should be able to spend their days comfortably without holding back.

(For now, I should change my computer’s password to something more difficult so it can’t be unlocked easily.)

Although some of Natsuki’s treasures have been revealed, and even preferences in the opposite sex have come to light, there are still more treasures that remain hidden. Determined to keep them concealed from Koume and Ginko, who rummage through the room like adventurers, Natsuki made up his mind.

“By the way, it seems Ginko-chan has the day off today, what will you do?”

“Even though it’s my day off, since Jack-san and Nancy-san are going sightseeing and Koume-san is joining them, I thought I’d guide them as well.”

Jack and Nancy are sensible people, but there’s always a chance that their disguises could be discovered and they could be captured. Furthermore, if Koume is going with them, there’s a risk of someone being struck by her angel spear if they act carelessly. Well, it probably wouldn’t go that far, but as an angel, Koume’s physical strength surpasses that of humans. If she wanted to, she could kill a person with a single punch.

Natsuki met Ginko’s eyes and clasped his hands together.

For now, he had to at least pretend to wear his uniform and show that he was going to school.

“Oh my, then maybe I should come along too? I know some delicious places.”

“Ah, please do! If Haruko-san is with us, I think Koume-san will behave well too.”

“You fool! I’m always well-behaved!”

“…I wish you’d remember what you’ve done!”

Beside Koume and Ginko’s friendly banter, Natsuki finished his meal and took a moment to drink some tea and relax.
