Reincarnated In A Novel As A Pathetic Side Character - Chapter 10
The next morning, I was awakened by a knock on the door.
“Young Master, may I enter?”
“Come in, Elisha.”
As I replied, the maid entered the room.
“Elisha, bring me some warm water and a towel. I will take a quick bath before eating breakfast.”
“Huh? …Are you not going to practise today?”
“Ah, no. Today’s a special day, so I will take it easy today.”
“I see.”
After Elisha left the room, I quickly took a shower.
“Young Master, here’s your towel.”
“Thank you.”
I took the towel and wiped myself clean, before putting on my clothes.
“If you don’t mind me asking, where are you going?”
Elisha asked as she buttoned my shirt.
“Um… I was planning on visiting the knight’s training ground. I wanted to see how talented the new recruits are?”
Elisha was curious and worried but she didn’t ask further.
As I stood up, Elisha asked, “May I come with you?” with a worried tone she continued, “I might be able to help you recruit some talented knights or mages.”
‘She misunderstood me.’
“You don’t have to worry Elisha, I am not going to recruit anyone, I am just curious to see how strong are the recruits.”
Well, her worries are quite justifiable as children of big families like Caesar fight each other for the position of the leader and to win the fight they have to have strong people supporting them.
But, unlike others, I don’t want a position that brings a lot of trouble and responsibility. My only goal for now is to become strong. Besides, this family would perish in the future anyway, so what’s the gain of becoming the leader?
“O-Oh, okay then. But, young master, be careful, the recruits don’t know their place and may try to provoke you.”
Even though Elisha was worried about Zephyr and wanted to assist him, but she couldn’t deny his orders as his maid.
And with that said, Elisha told me the location of the ground and left.
-Stomp! Stomp!
My footsteps resounded through the empty hallway, It really is an isolated place, I could hardly see a maid or two walking by.
Zephyr really was isolated from the family, to live in such an isolated place. Well, no need to think about it for now. I should quickly meet that person.
.
.
As I reached the knights’ training ground, the scene before me was a sight to behold. Bulky men were engaged in rigorous training, their swords clashing and their grunts filling the air.
I pushed through the training area, searching for the person I had come to see.
“Hey, pretty boy! What’s a snot-nosed kid like you doing here?”
“Hey don’t talk to him like that! He’s the youngest child of the lord.” One of the knights whispered in his ears.
“So, he’s the infamous trash of Caesar’s family? And what are you so afraid of? He’s just a trash that even his family avoided,”
He didn’t even try to hide what he was saying. He wanted to see how Zephyr would react.
‘Let’s see how you’ll react.’
But Zephyr didn’t bait an eye on him and continued on what he was doing. This made the knight angry but still, he didn’t have the guts to touch the child of Caesar’s family.
Ignoring the provocation, I kept walking, causing the knight’s frustration to escalate.
Continuing my search, my eyes landed on a woman who seemed to be around 20 years old. With striking black hair, piercing blue eyes, and dressed in light armour with a sword hanging at her side, she exuded an aura of authority.
“Wh-where’s he going?”
“Is he going towards, Miss Hana?”
“Why’s he going towards our goddess?”
“Who does he think he is?”
In just a week of being recruited, Hana became the hearts of the knights. Well, it was bound to happen as she was the only beautiful female knight. With long white legs and a curvy body coupled with her piercing blue eyes and black hair.
Hmm, it has nothing to do with me but I would still say, ‘Looks can be deceiving sometimes.’
“Are you Miss Hana?” I asked, acting overly excited. I have to say my acting is quite good. Well, I guess those Chuunibyou high school days were somewhat worth it.
“Huh…? Young…master …Zephyr? Greetings, Young Master but why are you here?”
So, she knows me? Well, she would have to have this much knowledge to be a spy.
Hana was surprised to see the son of the lord appear out of nowhere, not to mention, calling her name.
“What’s with the surprised look, I came here to see you. I heard you were the strongest among the new recruits.”
“Hehe, you are flattering me, young master.”
“No, no, I am not flattering you. So, can you show me your skills?”
“Huh…? Umm… Young Master that would be a little-“
“Please! I insist,” I interrupted with an enthusiastic tone. “I’ve heard so much about your talent, Miss Hana, and I want to see it for myself.”
Hana hesitated for a moment but eventually nodded, understanding that refusing the young master’s request might not be wise. She unsheathed her sword and was ready to demonstrate her skill but I stopped her.
“Miss Hana, wait, why don’t we go to the nearby forest as it would be a little disturbing for the knights, and I wanted to see your full power without any distractions.”
Hana considered my suggestion for a moment, then nodded in agreement. “Very well, Young Master Zephyr. Lead the way.”
As we walked towards the nearby forest, I couldn’t help but overhear the whispers and comments from some of the knights who had taken an interest in our conversation.
“What’s the young master up to?”
“He’s going to see Miss Hana’s full power? That’s unexpected.”
“Do you think he’s trying to recruit her?”
“He’s just a kid; he won’t be able to handle her.”
Ignoring the curiosity and speculation of the knights, I continued on our path.
“What stage are you at?” I asked.
“Umm… I am at Aura Disciple Peak stage.”
“Oh, really?”
‘Aura Disciple my ass! She should be around Aura Warrior Peak stage right now as one of the geniuses of the Teveran Empire.’
As she was about to demonstrate her skills, a sudden rustling in the nearby bushes interrupted us. Out of the undergrowth emerged a pack of Blood Fangs, vicious-looking monster wolves known for their sharp teeth and ferocity. Each one of their strength is equallant to a Aura Disciple Low Rank.
The Blood Fangs snarled and bared their fangs, circling us with predatory intent.
Hana was surprised for a second as she glanced at me.
With my superior acting, I quickly put on a surprised and scared expression. “Wh-wh-what…?”
‘If he were to get injured it then I might fail my mission and that could not happen.’
“Young Master! Stay behind me!” She screamed as she launched at the pack of wolves. Her sword flashed through the air, striking one of the wolves and sending it yelping in pain.
I did my best to stay behind her, watching in awe as she fought off the ferocious creatures. Even though I knew she was hiding her strength it was still amazing to see her fight and defeat all the blood fangs.
After some time, she was finished killing them off. She panted slightly, her sword still poised for any potential threat, though none remained.
I continued to play my part, acting relieved and grateful. “Miss Hana, that was incredible! You saved us!”
Hana’s breaths were somewhat labored, but she managed a smile. “I couldn’t let any harm come to you, Young Master. It’s my duty to protect you.”
“Thank you Miss Hana! But I have a question for you, is your dick fine Miss Hana—or should I say Mister Arthur Smith?”
