Reincarnated as the Villain Who Experiments on Orphanage Kids – Why Are the Test Subject Girls Begging Me for "Night Experiments"? - Chapter 22
Chapter 22: The Ramen Shop Guy Fighting a Monster
There are a lot of weird things in this world.
Never mind my past life, but especially in this world, crazy stuff happens all the time.
For example, the orphanage kids started begging me to do experiments on them.
For example, the orphanage kids formed a secret society.
For example, I got tied up by the orphanage kids.
For example, the orphanage kids jumped into a fight with an evil organization.
Most of it was because of the orphanage kids, but this world really is just one weird thing after another.
But what was happening right in front of me was pretty weird too.
Because the guy who showed up at the orphanage, looking like a big shot from Rebellion, suddenly drank some shady medicine. The next thing I knew, his body started changing into a monster.
“Hey, hey, hey, pick a better time and place for that!”
After all, this is an orphanage.
And using his trump card the second he got in front of me? That was straight-up harassment.
What did I even do? I was just working part-time at a ramen shop.
Why am I getting dragged into a fight?
It was so unfair I felt like sobbing. As the head of the orphanage I probably shouldn’t, but as a regular guy I think it’s allowed.
Even men want to cry sometimes.
But no matter how much I complained, it was already too late.
“Uwoooooooo!”
The man’s body swelled up right before my eyes.
His muscles ballooned out in a crazy way, and I could hear his bones creaking. His skin turned black, and his veins popped out.
Then horn-like spikes grew from the top of his head, and his fingertips stretched out into beast claws.
In no time, every trace of him being human was gone.
“Guooooooo…”
A low growl echoed around us.
“That’s definitely the kind of drug you shouldn’t drink.”
I didn’t know exactly what it was, but it was clearly bad news. It probably had a similar effect to the stuff the old me in the original story used on Priere and the other test subjects.
It successfully turned the person who used it into a monster.
And it looked way stronger too.
“Who the heck made a drug like this?”
Rebellion probably had other mad scientists besides the old me from the story.
“Guaaaaaaa!!”
Even so, this was way out of line.
Turning into a monster was already a no-go, and on top of that it was overpowered.
Because just one roar from the monster cracked the ground wide open.
The orphanage wall shook violently and looked like it was about to collapse any second.
“Give me a break! Do you know how much the repair bill is gonna be?!”
It was more than a whole year’s part-time pay from the ramen shop. So I couldn’t just leave it like this.
I had to get this thing off the grounds no matter what.
“Haa…”
I let out a deep sigh and pulled the usual ball out of my pocket.
“Guaaaaaaa!!”
The monster glared at me with red eyes.
It looked like it had completely lost its mind and was ready to attack me even though I had nothing to do with this.
“I’m totally the victim here, right?”
I think I’d be allowed to file a complaint.
But there was no police, no guards, no knights around, so I had to handle it myself.
“Guaaaaaaa!!!”
“Damn it! This is seriously too unfair!”
And that’s how my fight started.

[Side: Priere]
To put it mildly, I got way too carried away.
It felt so good to finally go all out after so long that I overdid it.
As a result, I let the enemy get away.
Right now the whole organization is out searching, but we still haven’t found him.
He probably had some hidden passage somewhere.
I let my guard down completely.
“This is a huge failure.”
I kept beating myself up while I ran through the streets.
I moved across the rooftops, looking for bloodstains or any signs of fighting.
“I have to find him somehow!”
The man who called himself Jimbara was a tough opponent.
Even though I had him completely on the ropes, he dodged every fatal blow, and it felt like he still had some trick up his sleeve.
He was a guy with no bottom.
And if I let someone with that much power escape, I couldn’t face Sai.
“What’s this?”
It happened right when I was passing near the orphanage.
I spotted bloodstains on the ground. A lot of them.
And the trail of blood led straight toward the orphanage.
“…!”
I didn’t know whose blood it was.
But I couldn’t ignore it.
If this was the orphanage kids’ blood…
“!”
I took off running right away.
Without looking left or right, I jumped over the fence and landed in the courtyard.
The next second, the sounds of fighting hit my ears.
“Guooooooo!!”
It was a terrifying roar.
The ground shook so hard I thought there was an earthquake nearby.
When I looked over, there was a monster.
It walked on two legs and looked human from far away, but parts of it were all wrong.
Its skin was black and blotchy, its skeleton was a size bigger than a human’s, and it had huge horns on its head.
It looked like some kind of demon monster.
“…………Huh?”
And there was someone holding back the monster’s fierce attacks.
“Yikes, I should’ve brought a sword.”
The person blocking the giant claws with a tiny ball was dressed weird.
He had a towel wrapped around his head and wore an apron, looking exactly like a ramen shop worker. The guy with the bitter smile on his face was the person I loved most.
“…Sai?”
Why is he at a ramen shop?

[Side: Rafal]
Oh, it’s Fio.
I heard the princess had disappeared, so I was wandering around the city.
I didn’t really have anything else to do, so I was just checking out the situation.
I found Fio near the church.
She already seemed to have wiped out all the monsters around there and was standing tall in front of the church.
And she was yawning big time.
…Yeah. She’s definitely gonna fall asleep like this.
So I decided to call out to her.
“Fio, I’ve got an interesting story.”
“Who? Oh, it’s you, Rafal. Why did you leave your post?”
“Nothing was happening at the academy. Anyway, listen.”
I told her about the princess.
How the princess had gone missing.
And how Rebellion’s goal was probably not to throw the city into chaos, but to kidnap the princess and use her as a hostage.
“That’s bad!”
After I finished explaining, Fio’s eyes flew wide open.
She looked like she was about to run off any second.
“We have to go save her!”
“You’re the best, Fio. But how are we gonna find her?”
“We just check every suspicious place. If we search everything, we’ll find her somewhere.”
“Everything? How many places is that?”
“Everything! All the suspicious spots in the capital, obviously.”
“…Ah, yeah. That’s just like you, Fio.”
“What do you mean by that!”
And so we decided to look for the princess.
“She’s not here! Why isn’t she anywhere?”
“Well, she wouldn’t be somewhere people can see her. If she’s already been taken, she’s probably in one of Rebellion’s hideouts.”
Just like I thought, no matter where we looked we couldn’t find the princess.
We ran into some knights along the way. We stared at monster corpses. We peeked at places with smoke rising.
We searched based on Fio’s gut feeling, but we didn’t even reach any suspicious spots, let alone find the princess.
While we were walking around doing that…
“Huh? That’s weird.”
Before we knew it, we had ended up right in front of the orphanage.
“Might as well take a little break since we’re here.”
A few SJO Squad members were still at the orphanage anyway. So even if monsters attacked, I didn’t think there would be big damage.
But it was still better to check on things just in case.
With that in mind, I headed to the gate with Fio.
“Huh?”
Someone familiar was standing near the entrance. It was Pri.
Why was she just standing there frozen?
While I was wondering that, I noticed fighting happening where she was looking.
“Guooooooo!!”
What an insane roar. The pressure from the magic power reached all the way over here.
There was a monster.
A horned, human-shaped demon-like monster.
…Is this pretty bad?
Even from a distance I could tell.
That thing wasn’t normal. It felt really strong.
It had so much magic power it might even be on the level of a dragon.
“……………………”
But what my eyes stopped on wasn’t the monster.
It was its opponent. The person holding a tiny ball in one hand and holding off the monster’s fierce attacks.
“Hehe…………”
I had thought he was a bit strange before, but he really is super weird.
Towel on his head, apron around his waist.
The person in that totally out-of-place outfit was…
“Master?”
“What is Sai doing?”
Fio had the same reaction.
We looked at each other. I couldn’t blame us for being shocked.
Everything about it was weird.
Why is Master working at a ramen shop?

[Side: Fioraia]
Why is Sai working at a ramen shop! That’s just wrong!
