Chapter 41: Talking with Liese Alone
《Cerios’s Side》
After the duel, I took Liese back to her room and laid her down on the bed.
“You really pushed yourself.”
I gently stroked her head and wiped the sweat from her forehead.
“Thank you. I love you too, Liese.”
Since she had already lost consciousness, I could finally say those words honestly.

After dinner, I went to check on Liese again. It seemed that Faina had helped her change clothes, as her pajamas were different from earlier.
Fortunately, her fever had gone down, and when I knocked on the door, she welcomed me in. From inside the room, I heard a slightly nervous voice.
“P-Please, come in…”
“Excuse me.”
When I stepped inside, Liese was sitting on the soft bed. The fire in the fireplace crackled quietly, filling the room with warmth and a peaceful atmosphere.
She looked at me with a slightly tense expression.
“Lord Cerios… is something wrong?”
Her flushed cheeks still showed that she wasn’t completely recovered, but somehow, that made her look even more endearing.
“No, I just came to check on you. I was worried you might be pushing yourself too hard.”
Liese smiled softly and shook her head.
“Thank you. I’m feeling much better now. My body still feels a little heavy… but thank you for the medicine. It must have been expensive, just like when you helped my mother… I’m sorry for the trouble.”
“Don’t worry about it. I care about you.”
When I told her how much she meant to me, Liese smiled happily.
“Thank you so much!”
Hearing her say that, I sat down beside her. The warm glow of the fire gently illuminated her soft expression.
“If your body still feels heavy, make sure you get plenty of rest. You always push yourself too hard.”
I moved closer, offering my support.
“I’m really happy that you worry about me, Lord Cerios.”
Saying that, she leaned her head against my shoulder.
Feeling the warmth of her touch, my heart pounded so hard I wondered if she could hear it. It only made it race even faster.
“…Why do you always try so hard?”
When I asked, Liese lowered her eyes slightly and then gave a shy smile.
“Because… being useful to you, Lord Cerios, makes me the happiest.”
My heart skipped a beat. How could she say something so sincere and straightforward?
As she looked up, the firelight reflected in her eyes, making them shine so beautifully that I almost had to look away.
“T-That’s nice to hear, but I don’t want you pushing yourself too hard and collapsing. If you’re not well, I’ll worry too much.”
Liese blinked in surprise, then gently placed her hand on her slightly flushed cheek.
“Me being healthy… is that really important to you, Lord Cerios?”
“Of course it is!”
My voice came out louder than I intended, and I quickly swallowed back the rest of my words. But Liese covered her mouth and let out a soft laugh.
“…Lord Cerios, it’s rare to see you so flustered.”
“That’s because of you!”
I shot back without thinking, but seeing her laughing made me feel like she was teasing me.
Feeling embarrassed, I looked away toward the fireplace. A faint voice came from beside me.
“…Lord Cerios, you really do worry about me that much, don’t you?”
“I told you, it’s only natural.”
I let out a small sigh as I answered.
Just then, a sweet scent drifted from beside me.
Liese leaned in closer, resting gently against me.
“Then… let me rely on you a little… just for now.”
“…!”
I thought my heart was going to explode.
Her slender body pressed softly against my arm. She was usually so composed and reserved, yet now, she was letting herself be this honest.
Carefully, I moved my arm and placed my hand on her shoulder to support her.
“You okay? …If you’re feeling unwell, don’t push yourself.”
“I’m fine. When I’m like this… I feel at ease.”
Her small voice whispered near my ear.
I didn’t know where to look, my eyes wandered aimlessly. But when I saw the slight blush on her face, I couldn’t help but smile.
“It’s good that you feel at ease, but… now I’m the one getting nervous.”
When I murmured that softly, she looked up at me in surprise. Then, quickly averting her gaze, her cheeks turned even redder.
“I-I’m sorry… am I bothering you?”
“Of course not!”
Saying that, I placed my hand on her head and gently stroked it.
She looked a little surprised at first but soon closed her eyes, showing a peaceful expression.
We sat quietly in front of the fireplace, savoring the moment.
It was the happiest I had ever felt.
(Once she gets better, I want to take her to so many places.)
As I thought about that, I continued to softly run my fingers through her silky hair.
I wished this moment could last forever.
