Chapter 08: Dressing Up the Trio
The main heroine’s abilities are amazing! By the time six months had passed since they came to live at my estate, Liese had already mastered reading, writing, and basic arithmetic.
Her complexion was healthy, her movements quick and precise, and she performed her duties as a maid flawlessly, with no mistakes or clumsiness.
Lately, she had also grown closer to Faina. Watching the two of them, both beautiful girls, smiling and working together was a delightful sight and a feast for the eyes. Having capable individuals around was always a good thing.
But how could I enjoy this charming view even more?
“Faina, Liese, Maria. Get ready—we’re heading out.”
After calling the three of them, who had just finished their morning duties, I informed them of our outing. The soft sunlight streaming through the windows lit up the study as I tidied up some papers.
It had been some time since Liese and Maria joined the estate. Though I had arranged for them to receive clothing from the other maids, their outfits felt too plain.
Maria, in particular, seemed to favor loose, baggy clothes that made her look understated and unassuming. Meanwhile, although Faina and Liese could make anything look good, their current outfits didn’t quite highlight their unique personalities. They felt a little too simple.
“Are we going somewhere, Lord Cerios?”
“That’s right, Faina. Today, We’ll be taking Liese and Maria along as well.”
“Understood.”
When I told them, the three reacted in different ways.
The ever-cool Faina gave her usual doll-like response. Liese, on the other hand, seemed a little confused—perhaps she didn’t have fond memories of the town. Maria, however, wore a gentle smile.
“We’re going to town… What exactly are we doing there?”
“To buy clothes. I want to get something that suits each of you.”
At my words, Liese and Maria’s expressions shifted to surprise.
“Wait, new clothes? That’s not necessary at all!”
Liese was the first to object.
“There’s no need for you to go to such lengths for us… You’ve already given us work, provided meals, and even pay. To do more than that…”
Maria’s gentle smile turned to one of hesitation.
“What are you misunderstanding? You belong to me. Liese, isn’t that right?”
“Yes! I’ll do anything for you, Lord Cerios. But… why? Why does that mean buying clothes for us?”
“Well, first, you’re part of this household. It’s only natural to dress appropriately. And, I want to see you both looking beautiful.”
At my words, their faces shifted from confusion to smiles for some reason. Hmph, here I was giving them orders, so why were they smiling?
““”Thank you very much.”””
By the afternoon, we boarded the carriage and headed into town. Arriving at a large tailor shop in the heart of the city, we were greeted warmly by the staff.
“Welcome. How can I assist you today?”
“I’d like to choose clothes for them. Make sure the designs suit their individual styles.”
The clerk nodded happily at my request and guided the three of them to the fitting rooms. Meanwhile, I settled onto a sofa in the shop, using the spare time to read.
The first to emerge was Faina. She wore a simple yet elegant black dress that perfectly highlighted her silver hair, giving her a cool and refined appearance.
“How is it?”
She glanced at me through the mirror, a faint smile playing on her lips.
“It’s not bad. But perhaps it’s a bit too flashy.”
“I don’t think it’s flashy at all. In fact, it suits you perfectly as you are now.”
Hearing my comment, Faina’s cheeks flushed slightly. She responded with a soft “Thank you.”
Next was Liese. She stepped out in an adorable dress adorned with pale pink frills, her face glowing with a bright smile.
“Lord Cerios, how do I look?”
She twirled her skirt lightly, looking at me with delight. Her appearance was enchanting, like a fairy straight out of a storybook.
“You look wonderful. Like a fairy.”
“Really? That makes me so happy!”
Liese blushed as she adjusted her skirt, her joy evident.
The last to appear was Maria. She wore a soft pastel-blue dress that highlighted her elegant curves. The dress added a touch of grace to her already maternal and nurturing aura.
“How does it look…?”
She glanced down shyly, her gaze dropping as she asked. The dress, with its slightly open neckline, made her appear both modest and striking. For a moment, I was at a loss for words before nodding quietly.
“It’s perfect. There’s nothing more to say.”
Maria looked surprised at my response, then smiled gently with a sense of relief.
“Thank you. If Lord Cerios says so, then…”
By the time all three had chosen their new clothes, the clerk approached with their purchases neatly packed and said with a smile:
“Each of you looks absolutely stunning. You have a wonderful master.”
At those words, Liese responded enthusiastically, “Yes! Lord Cerios is so kind!”
Faina, on the other hand, nodded modestly. “That’s true.”
Maria offered a gentle smile and said, “I’m truly grateful.”
Feeling a bit awkward, I decided to go all out and bought each of them dozens more outfits. Along with beautiful dresses, I made sure to include practical everyday clothes as well.
On the way back in the carriage, the three of them chatted happily about the outfits they had chosen, laughing and sharing their excitement. Watching them, I let out a quiet sigh.
Women, it seems, can talk endlessly when gathered together.
But since Liese and Maria came to the estate, the mansion felt brighter and livelier than before.
As I leaned back against the gentle sway of the carriage, I resolved to keep working hard so the three of them could continue to live happily here.
