- Chapter 25: Oni-chan's Harassment?
Oni-chan’s Harassment?
“H-Haruto-oniichan… you’re amazing after all… so many snacks…”
“Sigh…”
Looking at the treats placed on the table and carpet, Suzuha forced a wry smile, while Yuno placed her hands on her waist in disbelief.
The number of snacks was too much to count at first glance.
There were two 2-liter carbonated drinks, apple juice, and a bottle of tea.
Two family-sized bags of chips.
One bag of family-sized chocolates and one bag of family-sized cookies.
Various types of gummies and candies, typical Japanese snacks.
And there were also individual slices of shortcake.
The desk that was supposed to be used for studying had instantly been taken over by drinks and snacks after Haruto brought them in.
This was the scene after they finished bringing in all the treats.
“Um, I’m sorry about that. Onii-chan just gets really happy whenever he sees lots of treats. He doesn’t really think about how much we can eat.”
Yuno made sure to clarify and justify the situation. It was to make sure she didn’t misunderstand and think that they actually eat this much.
Suzuha understood Haruto’s personality, but Yuno wanted to be sure, just in case.
“He must have gotten excited… because it’s been a while since you came over, Suzuha-chan.”
Understanding why things had turned out this way, Yuno placed the snacks one by one on the carpet, making space to eat.
“Normally, you wouldn’t put this much stuff on the table, right? Where are we supposed to eat?”
“Hehe, Haruto-oniichan hasn’t changed at all.”
“Well, that’s true. He’s always been like this, and it can be really troublesome. I know he means well, but…”
Suzuha could easily imagine her brother being unrestrained, not looking at the prices, and just buying snacks and drinks to make others happy.
In reality, they couldn’t stop him either.
“Shopping? I’ll do that on my own! Look forward to the treats I’ll bring back!” he’d say with a smile, and they’d be caught in his playful trap.
“And, he even forgot to bring cups for the drinks and forks for the cake. This is like some malicious prank.”
“Oh, you’re right. Fufufu~.”
“He proudly says, ‘Ta-da!’ and shows off all these, but then this happens… Why are my brother and I so different in terms of common sense?”
She kept discovering things that were missing one after another and grumbled about it, but the atmosphere in the room was warm.
Since they both knew Haruto well, it ended with a resigned “Well, it can’t be helped.”
“Seriously… he almost had it perfect.”
Yuno kept grumbling, but her eyes were gentle. Her tone and expression were the same, indicating that she found it amusing.
Suzu understood her feelings perfectly, so she just watched quietly without interrupting, her expression also softening.
“Alright, I’ll go get some cups and forks.”
“Ah, maybe it’s better to wait a little longer… Haruto-oniichan might feel really sorry if he finds out he forgot to prepare them…”
“It’s okay. Onii-chan has already moved to the gaming room.”
“Re-really?”
“Definitely.”
They understood this from the way he happily brought the treats. He must have read the apology message they sent a while ago.
Living together under the same roof, Yuno could easily predict what Haruto would do next.
“Even if Onii-chan were in the living room, I could just say I need to use the bathroom to cover up.”
“Well… I think he might figure it out? Your room and the bathroom are in opposite directions from the living room, right?”
“…That’s usually true, but he’ll apologize for calling me at a bad time.”
“Eh!? You tested that?”
“I tried it out to see if my excuses for covering up his mistakes would work. There are so many times he slips up when we’re living together, so I try to come up with excuses that could work without having to correct him. I feel bad about warning him when my intention is just to make him happy.”
Yuno’s stance was not to scold him for the things she could fix herself.
“Besides, it’s troublesome if he starts crying.”
“The only time Haruto-oniichan will cry is probably during Yuno-chan’s graduation ceremony.”
“Oh. One handkerchief won’t be enough for that, for sure.”
“Probably need about three.”
From joking about him crying to exchanging light banter, Yuno stood up at that moment.
“Well then, I’ll head to the living room. The cake is perishable, so we should eat it soon.”
“I’ll help too.”
“Thanks, but let’s prioritize not getting caught by Onii-chan, alright? I think Suzuha-chan would be happy about that too.”
“A-ah, okay. I understand.”
With more people, the likelihood of getting caught while fetching missing items increases. Appreciating her thoughtfulness, Yuno headed to the living room alone.

“Suzuha-chan, you’re leaving at 5 PM today, right?”
“Yes. I don’t want to inconvenience anyone by staying any later.”
“If you don’t have any other plans, could you wait another 20 minutes?”
“20 minutes…?”
As they reviewed the returned test while eating the treats, the two of them continued their conversation.
“Yes. Onii-chan has a part-time job this afternoon and will leave home at 5:20 PM.”
“!”
“Just saying goodbye might not be enough, and I think Onii-chan would try to wrap up the conversation as soon as possible too.”
Those words made Suzuha stop her hands, and she looked at Yuno with anxious blue eyes.
“I hope I’m not causing any trouble for Haruto-oniichan… Since it’s before his work and all.”
“Then, I’ll ask him directly. I want to properly thank Onii-chan for delivering your message through mail.”
“Um, please do…”
“Alright. Oh, going to a café would give us more time with Onii-chan, but what do you think?”
“Y-you already know that without asking…”
“I’m not being mean; it’s just for confirmation!”
Yuno hurriedly explained to the blushing Suzuha.
Afterward, Suzuha nodded, her silver hair swaying gracefully.
