Please leave the party - Chap 9 - The Inspection
When Shizuku told the other guys about the trip and why they were going, they agreed instantly, so they decided to go to Biberbach right away.
Biberbach is the most important city because it is where the most important guilds on the continent are based. Nathan always got invitations from these guilds.
Despite Nathan’s repeated rejections, the invitations kept coming.
They arrived in Biberbach six days after the invitation.
As adventurers, they had to go through some checks.
Except for Fira, Nathan, and the other people, they were taken to a room.
They told the inspector why they were going to the city, showed proof that they were brave, and left quickly. The only thing that surprised them was that the inspector was a fan of Nathan and asked for his autograph.
“We’ve already gone through all of your paperwork. You can leave,” the inspector said, holding the autograph tightly.
“Thank you,” Nathan said, bowing his head respectfully.
Nathan saw that Fira hadn’t come back when he left the room, so they had to wait.
They waited for Fira for a couple of hours.
Fira then walked Nathan to her house by taking his arm, and the party followed.
Fira’s home was oddly modest, with only the bare essentials and a few photos of Nathan; when Shizuku and Yumina saw the photos, Fira felt embarrassed.
“What took you so long?” Nathan was surprised by Fira’s prolonged session, since their inspection had been quick.
“I can’t talk about that here.”
Fira pulled Nathan close until they were almost touching.
“Did something happen?” he asked.
“Not much, just the standard test to make sure I’m not meeting up with other orcs, that I don’t have evil plans, and so on.”
“This is ridiculous!” Yumina complained. “Why does the guild need to check every little thing? It could take forever! We’re supposed to be on a quest, aren’t we?”
“Well, we couldn’t help it…” Nathan tried to explain, but he felt bad about making excuses.
Nathan knew that Fira had to deal with a lot of racism because she was an orc, but he didn’t think she would have trouble in the city she defended, since she was the greatest adventurer there.
“Don’t worry, I’m used to this” Fira tried to lighten the mood.
“Where’s your party?” Merentiel asked suddenly. “I’ve heard they are great teachers.”
Merentiel looked for them in the house but couldn’t find them.
“They don’t live here, and we don’t share a house,” Fira explained.
“They won’t share with you because you’re an orc,” Merentiel asked.
As soon as Yuuki heard his friend ask something that could be sensitive for Fira, he quickly pinched him to interrupt him.
“Sorry,” Yuuki apologized.
“There’s no need to apologize, and the reason wasn’t exactly that, but it’s related. Their parents were afraid of them sharing a house with an orc, but that’s fine, because now I can share my house with my love, Nathan.”
The jealousy between Shizuku and Yumina quickly grew to the point where it could be felt in the air. They both stared daggers at Fira.
“Don’t forget that we’re here, and we won’t let you do anything naughty to Nathan,” Yumina said in an angry tone.
“Oh, you were here? I didn’t even notice,” Fira said playfully.
Yuuki and Merentiel, who could foresee that a war was upcoming, decided to find the best time to leave.
“Anyway, let’s get to work,” suggested Nathan. “We still have time today.”
“Let’s start discussing,” said Fira. “Nathan and I are going where the dragon had been last seen while you guys…”
“Don’t worry, we’ll find someone to train us,” said Merentiel.
Fira gave Merentiel a card, saying, “This teacher will teach you everything you need to know.”
Fira wanted them to stay away from Nathan as much as possible so she could be alone with him.
“It’s all right now!” Merentiel exclaimed happily.
He was glad he could be trained and would no longer be a hindrance.
“It’s not okay; why don’t you go with your party?” Yumina asked with a tone of jealousy and hatred.
“They’re scared,” said Fira. “It’s never easy to deal with dragons, because no matter how bad or illegal they are, they will always be right.”
Yumina stayed quiet because she was embarrassed, so Fira could keep talking.
The dragon was last seen near the south district.
Their mission would be to go there and see if there were any clues.
The orc was probably burned alive, but not so much that the evidence would be erased. The dragon wanted them to see that the orc was dead because it was basically something he was proud of. It was also possible that the dragon had left some sort of message, like a clue.
The only problem was that the area was filled with monsters and was dangerous to explore.
There might be other parties searching for the same thing, so they needed to act fast.
Fira knew Nathan was the only person she could count on for that since he was the one who saved her when she needed it most.
Fira still remembered the day Nathan saved her from a group of monsters. After that, she started to like and respect him, and he taught her how to protect herself, hunt, and do other things.
Then one day, admiration turned into love, and Fira wanted to date Nathan, but she knew she couldn’t because she was an orc. She knew she had to prove herself, so she went to the capital to set up her party and prove herself worthy of him.
“It’s fine then,” Nathan said after talking about the plan.
“Yes, you will look into it, and we will go after what teacher Fira suggested,” Merentiel added.
