Please leave the party - Chap 11 - The Guild Master's Approval and the Dragon Spy
At dusk, Fira and Nathan returned to the guild to report their findings.
Fira was very happy that she could continue with the investigation.
“What did you find?” asked the receptionist.
Before sending something to the guild master, the receptionist would look at it to see if it was important.
Several things that most adventurers thought were very important were actually just common questions, so she decided to look into the request.
As soon as the receptionist saw what was inside, however, her expression changed immediately.
“Is that…?!”
She gasped, then ran inside to tell the boss.
A few minutes later, the guild master appeared and began inspecting the contents of the sack.
“A chimera hunting so close to the city? This is a very important matter,” the receptionist said and called the guild master right away.
“As I said,” Fira said, making no attempt to hide her mocking tone. “We found this near the entrance to the forest.”
“This is truly remarkable. You’re lucky to have survived such an encounter,” the guild master told her, looking genuinely impressed.
“Yeah!” added Nathan, grinning.
There weren’t many adventurers brave enough to hunt chimeras within the walls of the capital. Even fewer succeeded in killing one.
For this reason, the chimeric monster was extremely valuable, and the reward for bringing it in was higher than usual.
Fira didn’t waste a second before getting right to the point. “We didn’t just come here to talk about the chimera; we came to talk about what’s bothering the orcs.”
“I already told you, Fira, that this matter is over,” the guild master said with a snort.
“No, it’s not over. All you did to close the case was put him in a line,” Fira said in an angry tone.
Fira was not afraid of anyone, not even the guild master, so she didn’t think twice about retorting.
“Settle down, Fira,” the guild master said, trying to keep things calm.
He then brought them to his room. “Here is a quiet place to talk.”
Fira didn’t say anything for a minute before continuing her complaints: “This investigation was poorly done. Nathan and I found several flaws in less than five minutes.”
“Fira…” Nathan racked his brain for a way to soothe his friend’s anger but came up empty handed.
If she keeps talking like this, sooner or later she’ll say or do something disastrous.
Having nothing to say, Nathan just held Fira’s hands.
Fira stammered out, “N.. Nathan,” clearly feeling ashamed of herself.
Her face was so red that she hardly sounded human.
For a moment, Fira’s intimidating appearance changed into that of a shy girl when the boy she liked surprised her. She barely knew how to form complicated words without making mistakes. Nathan blushed for a moment when he saw how cute Fira was when she was so clumsy.
“So now let me apologize,” Nathan tried to change the topic so Fira wouldn’t notice that he was also embarrassed.
“Huh?! Wha—” Fira was surprised by Nathan’s apology. But once again, she quickly recovered and continued arguing.
“And furthermore, I don’t see any progress whatsoever! We haven’t solved anything yet!” Fira shouted.
“That’s true, but the problem isn’t our fault,” replied the guild master.
“What isn’t so easy, doing your job, protecting your people, or having to go out and defend the orcs?” Fira made another sarcastic comment.
“Fira, any situation involving dragons is hard to handle, so please give us time,” He begged.
“You know perfectly well that these problems aren’t going anywhere!” Fira yelled.
“Well, yeah, I can understand how you feel,” answered the guild master. “But remember: Your actions reflect upon me.”
“Nothing bad will happen. We already have proof, and all we need from you is your approval and a promise that you can deal with the leaders of the Dragon Council.”
As the dragon council was made up of the strongest dragons, it would be very difficult if they decided to interfere, so Fira needed the help of the Guildmaster to show that the dragon had gone too far.
The leaders probably wouldn’t want to accept, but with such hard evidence, they wouldn’t have a choice. If they didn’t, they might look like the bad guys (wrongdoers), which they couldn’t stand.
“Okay, okay… Fine, I’ll approve it.” Since the master had nothing else to do, he just agreed “I have one more thing to say. By now you must be suspicious, but there is a dragon spy in this guild.”
“Yeah, I already knew” was Fira’s direct answer.
“Find a way to get rid of him, find him for the good of the guild.”
Fira just nodded and walked away with Nathan’s hand in hers.
Fira was holding Nathan’s hands like a maiden in love. For a second, the guild master forgot about Fira’s emotionless face and saw her only as a girl in love, but he was convinced that Fira would definitely try to get rid of the spy as soon as possible.
