“Alright, let’s hold hands.”

Holding hands is a normal thing for us. So, without a second thought, I held out my hand.

“Huh? This isn’t how we usually hold hands?”

“Yeah. We’re pretending to be a couple right now! This is a lover’s grip!”

Hearing that, it felt like my head exploded.

In complete contrast, Mama was smiling happily. Even if we were just playing, I didn’t think we needed to act this much like a real couple.

In the first place, I only have to pretend to be her boyfriend in front of Ryo.

“A hospital date?”

Now that she mentioned it, there wasn’t a time I hadn’t wondered why I was so small. I’d thought of all sorts of reasons.

“…My parents never had me checked out, did they?”

“Ah, yeah. Not at all.”

My parents had no interest in the reason why. By that time, they had a brother who was growing up properly.

I think their affection for me vanished and was transferred entirely to my brother.

“I see… I wonder why. I’d think you’d want to know everything about your own child.”

Suddenly, I was curious about something.

“Do you want to know everything about us, too?”

The answer came back in an overwhelmingly clear form.

“Of course! But I won’t pry into things you want to keep hidden! Mama will hold back!”

Even if she says she’ll hold back, it seems her desire to know doesn’t change.

The part I would have most wanted to hide has already been seen. My parents. I was so embarrassed that they were so greedy for money, and Mama was with me when I found out.

So, I don’t have anything I want to hide anymore. In the first place, it seems I don’t have any parts that I, as a man, would want to keep hidden.

Come to think of it, I’ve started to dislike this surname a little. It’s fine that it’s the same as my brother’s. But I hate that it’s the same as my mother’s. Being called it for the first time in a while made me feel that way for some reason.

When I entered the examination room, a man in a white coat and glasses was sitting there.

“Hm? Mama?”

There was an Akihaba family member here, too. At this point, I should probably suspect that anyone I meet might be from the Akihaba family.

“Huh? Hiro-kun! What are you doing here!?”

“No, that’s my line. A cold? Let’s start the examination right away. I’ll cure it immediately. I can’t let Mama suffer.”

“No, I want to have this boy, Rin-kun, examined to find out the reason his body didn’t grow when he was a child. Can you do it?”

Saying that, Hiro-Onii-chan crouched down to meet my eyes.

“I’m your big brother. Nice to meet ya.”

He said that and smiled softly.

I was surprised.

His expression was so gentle, you’d never imagine it from his tone of voice.

There’s no doubt Hiro-Onii-chan is a kind person, too. He’s just a bit on the quiet side.

“Ah, nice to meet you! Hiro… Onii-chan?”

I wasn’t sure if it was okay to call him Onii-chan, but when I did, he looked very happy. It’s okay to call him that, in fact I should. Because it makes him happy.

“Yeah. Alright, first up is a blood test. We’ll check for various things. Sorry…”

“Why are you apologizing?”

“Because it will hurt.”

As he spoke, Hiro-san’s face turned beet red.

Saying that, Hiro-Onii-chan inserted the syringe into me.

It didn’t hurt at all. And it was over in an instant.

“Good boy.”

After it was done, Hiro-Onii-chan said that and patted me.

“It didn’t hurt at all, you know?”

It was so surprisingly painless. I felt it being inserted. But it was just a sensation. I have a feeling he’s actually very skilled with injections.

“I see. Good. I’ll have the results out in about a week. I’ll call Mama’s phone to report…”

I think Hiro-san probably has a few possible reasons in mind.

“Okay, I’ll be waiting for your call then!”

“Take care. I’d like to catch up, too…”

With that, the examination was over and we left the room.

In the waiting room, I talked a bit with Mama while we waited.

“He was quiet, wasn’t he?”

“Yes!”

“Even so, he talks a lot more when he’s doing his VTuber stuff.”

Akihaba Hiro, the medical VTuber. His goal is apparently to have everyone understand illnesses correctly and eradicate the number of people who let their conditions worsen.

His viewers call him ‘sensei’ in two senses of the word: this is Akihaba Hiro.
