- Chapter 12: Arguing with Yoru as a Woman
Welcome, Yoru-kun!”
“Hello, Auntie.”
As soon as we arrived home, Mom hugged Yoru warmly.
I understood that Yoru’s beautiful and cute appearance was noticeable, but I hoped it wouldn’t make her uncomfortable… However, Yoru seemed quite content with it.
“Are you feeling alright? Nothing bad with your health?”
“Nothing at all. I’ve just become a woman, that’s all.”
“…That ‘just’ is pretty significant, though.”
Indeed it is.
But I’m grateful to Mom for not treating Yoru differently because of the TS disease. Yoru probably feel even more thankful than I do.
“Your mom’s energetic, huh?”
“She just loves you a lot.”
“…Hehe, I see.”
Yoru seemed genuinely pleased to be liked by my mom.
“Here we go.”
Yoru sat on my bed and took off her jacket, folding it neatly before stretching towards the ceiling.
“Ugh… Ahh♪”
A seductive sigh escaped her as she stretched, and I couldn’t help but stare. Seeing a beautiful woman sitting on my bed made my thoughts wander, and I quickly averted my gaze.
“What’s up?”
“Nothing at all.”
“Really?”
“Don’t worry about it.”
Even though Yoru had come over, we needed something specific to do. Usually, we’d just play games or read manga… While I was pondering this, Yoru stood up and browsed my bookshelf.
“…I’ll read these today.”
She picked up a few books and lay back on the bed to read.
It felt silly to be so tense. I sighed, sat on the floor, leaning against the bed, and fiddled with my phone.
“Hey, Yoru.”
“What?”
Amid the sound of pages turning, I said something to Yoru.
“You haven’t changed a bit.”
“…What’s that out of the blue… Oh, I see.”
Yoru chuckled and patted my head, her touch turning gentle as she stroked my hair.
“You’re always the same. Always will be.”
“…Hey! Don’t pat my head like that—”
I turned away, but then… I was at a loss for words.
I knew it was Yoru, but the person smiling gently at me was a beautiful woman… I quickly faced forward again.
“Oh? Are you embarrassed?”
“Shut up.”
“Ha, watch out, I might tease you more!”
She suddenly sat up and hugged my neck.
“What are you doing!?”
“Ahaha! What’s that reaction? Here, how about this?”
I felt an incredibly soft pressure against the back of my head. Yoru seemed to enjoy using her newfound femininity to her advantage. Finally, unable to take it anymore, I stood up and moved away.
“…I’ll go get some snacks and drinks.”
“Alright!”
…I felt defeated, but by what?
Yoru waved at me as I headed to the living room. I passed Mom, who was watching TV, and picked out some snacks and prepared cups and juice.
“…I guess I’ll go to the bathroom while I’m at it.”
Yoru muttered and left the prepared snacks behind to head to the restroom. After finishing up, she returned to the living room, intending to take the snacks back to the room, but her mother spoke up.
“Never thought Yuki would bring a girl home.”
“Mom, you know what you’re doing.”
“Of course♪ , But really, Yoru-kun is so beautiful.”
“Yeah.”
Everyone thinks so.
Yoru’s new identity is known at school. Despite knowing her past as a boy, many boys are interested in her. This information, though from friends, seemed accurate.
“I wonder who would stand beside Yoru-kun.”
“…Hmm.”
I pondered seriously. It would take a really handsome guy to match Yoru’s current beauty, wouldn’t it? Besides, it’s hard to imagine Yoru romantically with a guy. Our friends and I are one thing, but in a romantic sense?
“How about you? Would you want to stand beside Yoru-kun?”
“Me? In a romantic sense?”
“Yes.”
“No way.”
Sure, being around Yoru now often makes my heart race, but if you ask if I want a romantic connection with her, I have my doubts. I’m a guy, and Yoru is now a girl… Not that it’s wrong, but I just can’t picture it.
“I’d like to be by her side as a friend.”
“I see, that’s how it is.”
Our conversation with my mom ended there, and I returned the snacks to the room. However, I thought I heard a door closing on the way… Maybe it was just my imagination?
“I’m back.”
“Oh, welcome back…”
Yoru, slightly out of breath, waited for me on the bed. I thought she might have been exercising, but I just placed the snacks on the table and sat down.
“Here, eat.”
“…Okay.”
Something seemed off. She was much less energetic than before.
“Something wrong?”
“…It’s nothing.”
“…Okay.”
“…Sorry, it is nothing. You shouldn’t worry.”
If that’s the case… then it’s fine.
Yoru was quieter and spoke less than before. She insisted it was nothing, but something was clearly bothering her. Yet, I didn’t feel irritated.
“Here.”
“What’s with the hand?”
“Patting your head.”
“Why?”
“Returning the favor from earlier.”
“…I see.”
That’s just how it is with long-term friends.
I never get irritated with Yoru unless she’s screaming at me. Well, there are other kinds of irritation… Ahem, but as I stroked her smooth hair, she shivered slightly as if cold.
“Here, take the blanket.”
“Thanks… Hey Yuki, let’s get under it together?”
“Sure.”
I remembered how we often did this as winter approached. We did the same last year… Lost in these thoughts, Yoru suddenly whispered.
“…Yuki, you’re unfair. So unfair.”
“Eh…?”
She laughed, then came around to face me and leaned in close… Wait, what!?
“…Alright, I can’t pretend not to be conscious… what am I doing?”
“Yoru-san?”
“It’s all your fault! Your fault!”
“Why?!”
Then we started arguing, face to face.
But neither of us looked upset, and needless to say, we were both smiling the whole time.
