Chapter 4 – Don’t Tell Anyone That We’re Family
We had something to say to each other, so Tachikawa and I went outside the restaurant.
“What a nasty coincidence…”
“Yeah…”
Who would have guessed that Tachikawa was the daughter of my dad’s second marriage partner…
Dad and Kaho-san are still talking happily, even though it’s been an hour since we arrived at the restaurant.
“I’m in favor of them getting married. What about Tachikawa?”
There would be no problems in my life if Tachikawa and I became a family. But Tachikawa would not want to live with me because I have her weakness.
“I agree. My mother was not well after my father died…but when she met your father, she started to smile again like before. So I can’t selfishly disagree with you.”
“Okay. Then we’re on the same page. By the way, when’s your birthday?” (T/N: Good MC. He has his priorities…)
“Birthday? My birthday is—Why would you want to know my birthday anyway? Even if you have my weakness, I—”
How can that be!?
“Whether you’re younger or older than me… I just want to know. That’s it.”
“Older or younger sister… I-If that’s the case, you should’ve just said that…”
Well, you just started getting paranoid on your own.
“So? When is it?”
“December 24th… It’s Christmas Eve.”
“Then I’m your older brother.”
“What? When is Asai-kun’s birthday?”
Tachikawa grabbed me by the shoulder and asked as if she couldn’t believe that my birthday was earlier than her.
“July 14th.”
“H-Heh~… Then, I’m your little sister…”
You look like you wished you were older, though.
“Hey, if we’re going to be a family, I need one thing from you.”
One thing, huh…? I have a bad feeling about this, but, well, let’s just listen.
“What do you mean by that?”
“I don’t want you to like me.”
“Hah… What’s that request?”
“It’s important if we’re going to be a family. We’re a family… If we don’t say first that we don’t want romantic feelings for our family members, it’s harder to say it later.”
It’s true that in order to live in the same place without any problems from now on, it’s better to stop harboring romantic feelings for Tachikawa, who will be part of my family.
All is in order to protect this new life…
“Don’t like me, okay?”
As if to remind me, Tachikawa told me with a fake smile.
My feelings towards Tachikawa are…
“No, it’s not going to happen.”
“I’m relieved to hear you say that so clearly. And one more thing, you mustn’t tell anyone that we’ve become a family… Okay?”
“Yeah, okay…”
Me and Tachikawa are just classmates.
That shouldn’t change, now and in the future…
***
A week later, two members of the Tachikawa family moved into the house where I live.
The house is a two-storey building with several spare rooms. Tachikawa had to use the room next to mine that was vacant.
It’s one thing to have our seats next to each other, but now our rooms are next to each other as well…
I wouldn’t say I hate it, but I still didn’t feel comfortable living with my classmate.
“Tachikawa, did you carry all your stuff?”
After helping to move the cardboard boxes filled with stuff from the first floor to the second floor, I asked Tachikawa who was inside from the entrance of the room that was to become Tachikawa’s room.
“Yes, I’ve got everything. By the way, my mother will react when you call me Tachikawa, so when we’re at home, call me by my first name. I’ll call Asai-kun Yuuto, too.”
It’s true. It;s confusing if I call her Tachikawa.
“Okay. Then, I’ll call you Mina-san.”
When I said that, she puffed out her cheeks.
“Heh~, you’re using ‘-san’ honorific.”
“Then, I’ll use ‘-chan’?”
“That’s gross.”
“I’m still going to call you using Mina-san, even if you complain. We don’t know each other well enough to not use honorifics, right?”
“I guess that’s true.”
“Best regards from now on, Mina-san.”
I put my hand in front of Mina-san’s. And Mina-san shook my hand.
“You too. Yuuto-kun.”
Even if we live together, my relationship with Mina-san will not change, and my live will remain the same.
