Nobody Wants to Be the MC - Chapter 29
Chapter 29: Is sending Lilith away the answer?
【Lucifer PoV】
My subordinates gathered nervously around the large stone table in the meeting room. Their worried faces told me this wasn’t going to be good.
Mammon spoke first, carefully choosing his words.
“Lucifer-sama… we called this meeting because of Lilith-sama.”
Of course. Who else would it be about?
I sighed, leaning back in my chair.
“What happened this time?”
Asmodeus hesitated, glancing around as if afraid Lilith would suddenly appear.
“Lilith-sama’s magic… it’s completely out of control. Yesterday she accidentally turned the kitchen staff into talking rabbits…”
Belphegor raised his hand weakly.
“I still have bunny ears, Lucifer-sama…”
I groaned softly, feeling a headache building.
“Okay, I get it. Her magic is a bit… wild. But she’s still young. Maybe she’ll improve.”
Everyone exchanged doubtful glances. Mammon sighed deeply, clearly trying to gather his courage.
“Lucifer-sama, we have a suggestion… perhaps Lilith-sama should attend the Royal Academy.”
I froze, blinking at them in surprise.
“The Royal Academy? You mean… where the heroes are?”
Mammon nodded seriously.
“Yes, Lucifer-sama. We know it sounds risky, but the academy has the best teachers. They could help Lilith-sama control her magic properly.”
Leviathan added nervously:
“And maybe she can even make some friends… normal friends, hopefully.”
Friends? Normal friends? With Lilith’s personality?
I pictured my innocent daughter accidentally blowing up classrooms, turning students into frogs, or worse—cooking for them.
I shivered at the thought.
“Are you sure sending her there is a good idea?”
Asmodeus stepped forward carefully.
“Lucifer-sama, there’s also another advantage. Two heroes are currently attending the academy… Siegfried and Eksu.”
I stared blankly.
“And why is that good news?”
Mammon leaned closer, whispering cautiously.
“She can spy on them, Lucifer-sama. Get close to the heroes, learn their secrets. It might help us in the future.”
I stayed silent, processing the idea.
It sounded logical, but… two heroes at the academy? Siegfried and Eksu?
My mind immediately panicked.
“Wait… aren’t those two guys notorious womanizers?”
Belphegor blinked, confused.
“Um, Lucifer-sama… they’re heroes. Isn’t that the bigger concern?”
I shook my head instantly.
“No, no, no! The heroes being there isn’t the main issue! The main problem is those two are known casanovas! My innocent Lilith wouldn’t stand a chance!”
The room fell silent. My subordinates looked at me as if I’d lost my mind.
Mammon slowly cleared his throat.
“Lucifer-sama… the heroes literally want to kill you. Isn’t that worse?”
“No! Death is quick, but heartbreak? Lilith’s innocent heart might never recover!”
Belphegor whispered quietly:
“He’s lost it completely…”
I slammed my hand on the table dramatically.
“I haven’t lost anything! I refuse to send my sweet daughter into the den of those romantic predators!”
Leviathan awkwardly raised his hand.
“Um, Lucifer-sama… they’re heroes, not love demons. Maybe it won’t be that bad…”
I glared fiercely.
“You underestimate the charms of those two! They probably use sweet words and heroic smiles to deceive innocent young women like Lilith!”
Mammon sighed again, clearly exhausted.
“Lucifer-sama, please consider the greater good. Lilith-sama’s mana is dangerous here. The academy is our best option.”
I crossed my arms stubbornly, sulking like a child.
“Absolutely not. I refuse to send her to such a dangerous place.”
The room grew silent again, tension rising.
Suddenly, a soft knock at the door startled everyone. Lilith peeked inside, smiling innocently.
“Daddy, is everything alright? You look upset.”
“Lilith! We’re fine, just having a small… meeting…”
She stepped inside cheerfully.
“Oh! Can I help?”
Everyone flinched, glancing nervously around.
“No, no, Lilith! We’re just… discussing… your education…”
Her eyes sparkled instantly.
“Oh! Are you sending me somewhere special? Like an academy?”
How did she guess that instantly!?
“Um… Lilith, it’s not yet decided…”
“But Daddy! I’d love to go! I’d make lots of friends, learn new magic, and maybe even do experiments safely!”
Experiments safely? That sounded impossible.
Yet her bright smile melted my resistance instantly.
I turned helplessly to my subordinates, who gave me hopeful nods. I sighed deeply, knowing defeat.
“Alright, Lilith… you’re going to the Royal Academy.”
Her eyes widened with excitement.
“Really!? Thank you, Daddy!”
She jumped forward, hugging me tightly. My heart squeezed painfully.
My innocent daughter, going to a place filled with dangerous heroes who toy with women’s feelings…
But seeing her smile, how could I say no?
“Lilith… there’s something important. Two heroes attend the academy—Siegfried and Eksu. Please… be careful around them.”
She tilted her head innocently.
“Careful? Are they dangerous?”
“Yes, extremely. They might… flirt with you.”
Lilith laughed cheerfully.
“Oh Daddy, you’re so funny! I promise I’ll be careful.”
She left happily, skipping down the corridor.
My subordinates smiled in relief.
“You made the right decision, Lucifer-sama.”
I sighed heavily, worried sick.
“Yes… but at what cost? My poor Lilith… what if she falls in love?”
Mammon shook his head, smiling awkwardly.
“Lucifer-sama, you really worry about the strangest things.”
Maybe he was right.
But as I watched Lilith vanish down the hall, I couldn’t shake the terrifying image of my sweet, innocent daughter being wooed by those romantic heroes.
Ah, maybe death by her cooking was preferable after all.
