Chapter 171 Give Back My Master’s Magic Power
Lyune swiftly moved behind Elsie and delivered a kick. Elsie’s body slammed into the wall of the house, causing it to crumble fragilely as both figures disappeared outside. A roar and a cloud of dust rose with a thunderous sound.
“Lyune! Wait, don’t go!”
I hurriedly peered outside through the hole in the wall. Under the moonlight, lyune and Elsie were clearly visible. Sinister black mist swirled around Lyune. Her eyes gleamed red, and dark magic rose from her horns.
“With Master’s magic, what do you intend to do! I won’t allow it!”
Lyune’s shout echoed through the night sky. Malevolent magic swirled around her, overflowing with anger.
“Oh? You still have enough magic left to fight?”
Elsie visibly startled, then stepped back. Her composed expression momentarily faltered.
“This isn’t a dream anymore, is it? If so, I can kill you unlike earlier.”
“Oh, bother… I just want to get to His Highness quickly.”
Elsie showed irritation, reaching into her pocket and throwing something into the air. Several glossy gem-like objects flew out, unleashing beams of light towards Lyune.
“Could those be labyrinth relics!?”
I gritted my teeth as I looked up from below. Items with such potent effects are usually only found in labyrinth relics. They’re not easy to come by, but perhaps Elsie gathered them with the royal family’s resources as the Second Prince’s attendant.
“Fourth Tier, Shadow Spear!”
Meanwhile, Lyune released numerous jet-black spears without hesitation. Instantly, Elsie extended what looked like a pendant, deflecting the attack. It clearly wasn’t an ordinary pendant.
“Fifth Tier, Shadow Flame!”
Next, dark flames began to corner Elsie. The flames writhed like beasts, instantly turning any touched buildings into ashes.
“Ugh!”
I couldn’t help but let out a sound.
The light from Elsie’s pendant clashed with Lyune’s magic. The shockwave nearly blew me away, and I instinctively grabbed onto a nearby pillar. The magical waves shook the village like a raging storm.
This battle was too intense—I had no chance to intervene.
“Where on earth is all that magic coming from? I really don’t want to waste my energy on you,” Elsie muttered, clearly annoyed. She seemed eager to end this fight as quickly as possible.
“Then hurry up and give back Master’s magic!”
Suddenly, Lyune’s body underwent a rapid transformation. Her jet-black horns grew ominously long, her skin darkened, and her nails sharpened into claws. She was losing even the shape of a human.
“Lyune… stop this…!”
Nyau’s voice reached my ears. I turned to see her, struggling to step outside, supporting herself against the wall.
But Lyune no longer seemed to hear her. She was completely consumed by the battle.
“Ninth Tier! Shadow Wing!”
Unfolding black wings, Lyune soared into the air before diving down in a fierce descent. The ground split apart in her wake, and rubble was sent flying. Elsie’s composed expression had vanished entirely—she was now fully focused on defending herself.
Each time their magic clashed, the night sky twisted and distorted. It sounded as if the very world itself was groaning in pain. The battle only grew fiercer, beyond the point of anyone stopping it.
“Return Master’s magic—NOW!”
With Lyune’s shout, her jet-black claws tore through the air. They had grown into vicious spikes, no longer resembling human hands. As they slashed past Elsie, a shockwave exploded against the ground. A deafening boom followed, sending pebbles and rubble flying. What had been an ordinary village just moments ago now looked like the ruins of a battlefield.
“Nyau, are you okay!?”
Supporting Nyau’s arm, I braced myself against the force of the explosion, struggling to stay on my feet. Nyau, barely breathing, kept her eyes fixed on Lyune. Her cheeks were flushed—not from exertion, but from pain.
“L-Lyune… stop…! If you keep pushing your magic beyond its limits, your body will—”
Her plea was weak, barely more than a whisper.
Without magic, Nyau could hardly stand—I had to hold her up to keep her from collapsing.
But Lyune showed no sign of hearing her. Her glowing red eyes locked onto her enemy like those of a predator. Her elongated horns shimmered with an eerie, otherworldly glow once more.
“Eighth Tier—Dark Stinger!”
Lyune leaped high into the air, carving multiple jet-black magic circles into the sky. From them, countless shadowy spikes emerged, raining down upon Elsie like a storm.
“Tch, this is seriously troublesome!”
Elsie grimaced as though she had bitten into something bitter, then raised an object—it was a treasure-like orb. A seven-colored light burst forth from it, colliding with Lyune’s spears. The resulting explosion sent shockwaves tearing through the night sky above the village.
“Ugh!?”
The blast momentarily threw Lyune off balance, but she quickly spread her dark, wing-like appendages, stabilizing herself midair.
Down below, Nyau and I were nearly thrown back by the force of the shockwave. I held Nyau tightly, shielding her while clinging desperately to the ground.
“Lyune…! Nyau is fine now. So please, just… stop!”
Nyau’s voice was weak and trembling, and hearing it made my chest tighten painfully. Up close, I could see her teary eyes clouded with worry and desperation.
“Damn it… is there really nothing I can do!?”
Frustration burned inside me as I continued to shield Nyau. But my helplessness meant nothing to the battle raging above. The night sky twisted under the clashing forces of magic. Just looking at Lyune’s black energy sent a chill down my spine—it was so ominous, so inhuman, that no one could witness it without feeling overwhelmed.
“Enough of this…!”
Elsie raised what looked like a golden talisman. A radiant silver light burst forth, colliding with Lyune’s dark energy. The two forces violently clashed in the air, creating a massive shockwave. Streetlights shattered, debris flew in every direction, and Nyau let out a pained groan.
“Dark Magic—Tenth Tier: Abyss Hole!”
Lyune’s voice had dropped so low, it no longer sounded human—it was more like a beast’s roar. The ground beneath Elsie darkened into a pitch-black void, spreading outward like a consuming abyss. A ghastly howling noise echoed as shadowy tendrils coiled around Elsie’s feet, attempting to pull her in.
“This is bad—really bad! I can’t die here!”
Elsie frantically pulled out another item. The moment she did, a strange white powder scattered through the air. As soon as it touched Lyune’s dark tendrils and magic, an explosive flash erupted, as if a bomb had gone off.
At the same time, an immense shockwave expanded in all directions, threatening to blow even Nyau and me away.
“Ugh…!”
A thick cloud of dust rose, blinding my vision completely. I could barely make out anything. I struggled to keep my balance while holding onto Nyau, but the ground beneath us cracked and warped, threatening to send us flying.
“Dark Magic—Thirteenth Tier: Nihilism!”
At that moment, the very air distorted under an immense weight. A deep purple energy, as if darkness itself had taken physical form, spiraled around Lyune.
“Lyune, stop! That magic is—!”
Nyau’s desperate scream rang out, but it was already too late.
“This is…! No, this is seriously bad!”
Elsie’s expression changed instantly. For a brief moment, she hesitated—but only for a moment. Determination quickly settled into her gaze.
And in the next instant, she vanished.
Slash.
A dull, sickening sound echoed.
A blade of light extended from Elsie’s hand—piercing straight through Lyune’s chest.
“Gah… ahh…”
Lyune’s body, drained of power, collapsed in slow motion toward the ground. Wisps of black mist scattered into the wind as if dissolving into nothingness. She weakly reached out, but her fingers grasped only empty air before she crumpled completely.
“Lyuneee!!”
Still holding onto Nyau, I sprinted toward Lyune as fast as I could.
