My Sex Friend Is My Childhood Friend? - 1
Chapter 1: A Meeting via App

(Sound of tapping on a smartphone)
“Hm~ What should I write here? Maybe I’ll ask Senpai…”
At the moment, I was registering on a dating app. It was at the recommendation of my Senpai, who said someone like me would be better off finding a match through an app.
Up until middle school, I had been pretty overweight. But thanks to an unfortunate incident, I made a fresh start—dieting, going to the gym, and putting effort into self-improvement—which led to a dramatic transformation that made me look like a whole new person.
Since I went to an all-boys high school, I hadn’t noticed it back then, but to be honest, I was quite popular now. That said, because of that unfortunate incident, I had developed trust issues with women.
I was afraid of trusting someone and getting betrayed. That was why I never had a serious girlfriend, nor did I have any intention of getting one. Still, I was at an age where my physical (sexual) desires were naturally strong.
So, while I would tell girls who approached me, “I’m not looking for a relationship,” I often ended up in physical relationships with them anyway. I always made it clear up front that I wasn’t looking to date, but for some reason, people still got their hopes up.
Recently, when one girl confronted me, I said, “I told you from the start, didn’t I? If I liked you, I wouldn’t be treating you like this,” and things got pretty messy afterward. Even though I’d been honest from the beginning… I didn’t get it. Honestly, it was so troublesome.
By the way, at work, I had a Senpai I respected, known as the “Scum Big Brother” (for the record, I was supposedly the “Scum Younger Brother”). When I told Senpai about the whole messy situation, he called me an idiot.
He folded his arms and let out a sigh as he said.
“It’s a basic rule to keep them thinking, ‘Maybe we’ll end up together,’ while still playing the field.
Also, never, ever tell them where you work. That’s rule number one.”
It was annoying to be called an idiot by another idiot, but since he was a master at this kind of thing, I figured he probably knew what he was talking about. Honestly, I felt like I was better off since I actually told them not to expect anything. But I guess, to outsiders, we were just two peas in a pod—hence the “Scum Brothers” nickname.
“Still, Senpai, aren’t you the one who’s most likely to get stabbed for real one day? Should I hold on to something for you, just in case it becomes a memento?”
Senpai snorted through his nose in amusement. He seemed pretty confident that he’d be fine. According to Senpai, if I truly wanted to find someone who was only looking for a no-strings-attached relationship, then using an app was the way to go.
And that was why I was registering now.
What should I use for my name? Using my real name felt too risky. Senpai also said to avoid putting in too much personal information. When I casually looked down at the security card hanging around my neck, it said.
“Sales Department 3 – Takasaki Nagi.”
Nagi… Unagi? (eel) That’s it—I’ll go with “Unagi” as my username.
For my location, I probably shouldn’t list Tokyo either. I should just put Saitama, since I used to live there. If I said I lived in Hokkaido or Okinawa, it’d probably be obvious I was lying.
I turned to the Senpai sitting on the neighboring island of desks.
“Senpai, what should I do about my birthday?”
“Dude, birthday settings are crucial, alright? You wanna end up triple-booked on your actual birthday or what?”
Huh? Why? Personally, I’d actually like to be properly celebrated on my birthday.
According to Senpai, no matter how many birthdays your partners have, you could always find time to celebrate theirs. But, you only had one birthday yourself. You couldn’t possibly be in three places at once. So the basic rule was to give each girl a different fake birthday.
As expected of the Scum Big Brother. The man had wisdom.
Now then, on to hobbies, favorite movies, annual income, etc. I filled that part out honestly.
As for a profile photo… I didn’t upload one, so I figured I’d only match with people who also left theirs blank. Gender equality and all that after all.
Now, the last section.
『What kind of relationship are you looking for?』
Senpai recommended I wrote something like. 『Looking for a girlfriend for a pure, genuine romance.』 But that just didn’t feel like me.
While Senpai wasn’t looking, I typed the following instead:
『A convenient relationship where we can meet when we want (sex friends). Kissing is off-limits. Love is off-limits. The relationship ends the moment either person starts to develop feelings.』
With that, I tapped the register button.
