He tapped 【Back】 at the bottom. The 【GAME WINDOW】 shrank to the corner and vanished. Huh. He blinked at it and pulled the window back up.

So that’s how it works. He had to view all the files before the window would let him move on.
Fine. Whatever.
Reluctantly, he tapped 【File 2】. A photo appeared — a side angle of a table. Unlike File 1, which had clearly captured Sakurai and her affair partner, this one only showed a hand.
What stopped his breath was something else. The photo had been seen straight through the refrigerator.
Inside it was a person.
Could that be… her husband?
He’d assumed they were just separated. But what if he’d been killed?
The pieces snapped together all at once.
She was a money-crazed murderer.
Sakurai was hammering on the door. He heard the jingle of keys — she’d gone to get them. Panic crept in. Once he’d viewed all the photos, the main screen finally loaded.
He went into 【ITEMS】 and tapped 【ITEM SHOP】. He purchased the 【SLEEP SPRAY】.

He stood there with the message open. Sakurai pried the door apart and stepped through — knife in hand — and lunged straight at him. The 【SLEEP SPRAY】 had a usable range of one meter.
His palms were sweating. The gap between them shrank step by step. The moment he judged it close enough, he tapped the message and locked eyes with her.
She leaped — and went limp in midair, collapsing in sleep across the corpse of the man she’d killed.
Conquest target or not — she was never someone he could have coexisted with. He shuddered and stepped out of the study. In the kitchen, he spotted a capsule sitting at the edge of the sink. Come to think of it — when he’d been hiding in the closet, he’d heard rustling. She must have been preparing the poison for her affair partner right then. He let out a short, humorless laugh.
And then, finally, he stood before the refrigerator. It had always struck him as oddly oversized for the room. He’d never imagined it was holding a body.
He steeled himself to call the police, then opened the door. Cold air rushed out. And there, just like in the photo, was a corpse. He couldn’t keep looking. He shut the door, crossed to the phone on the counter, called the police, and went home.
What a day.
Was this really what a conquest looked like? Not sex — but uncovering a hidden secret?
Maybe so. He pulled up the 【GAME WINDOW】 and checked the 【STATUS】.
A message appeared immediately.

He’d been right.
The conquest condition wasn’t about sleeping with someone or getting with them. It was about exposing what they’d hidden — whether that was a crime or a shameful secret. Which meant only women with secrets would trigger conquest info. Of course, that was just his theory. Each target might have its own conditions. He’d know once he tried the next one.
For now — stat upgrade.
Honestly, there was nothing to debate. A Charm of 12 made even approaching a woman an uphill battle.
With a conquest target being a woman, Charm clearly mattered most.

Five million yen. But with 【ITEM】 prices being what they were, even five million didn’t feel like much. Still, it was hard not to feel good about it. Either way — conquests paid. That alone was a major discovery.
He checked his remaining time.

So this game had his money on the line — not just his life. But he had no intention of gambling his neck for cash. Money could wait. What stuck with him more was the second tip. Once a mission started, there was no backing out.
He tapped the message, and it faded. The main screen appeared. He opened 【STATUS】.

Everything except the essential Scouter made him sigh at the price tags. He’d love to know what the 【Domestic Car】 and 【Foreign Car】 even did — but ¥8,000,000 for the cheaper one? Not happening.
And the 【Stopwatch】 at ¥30,000,000? Absurd. He buried any interest in it and focused on what he could actually afford: the 【Transformation Potion】 and 【Binoculars】.
Together they came to ¥1,700,000. He had to buy them. If you could buy it, you bought it. Dying with unspent funds on things he never even tried would just be a waste.
