My Precious Childhood Friend Got a Boyfriend - Chapter 15
Reunion
Shogo’s POV
Recently, I started a part-time job at a nearby supermarket.
My tasks mainly involve working the cash register, restocking shelves, and helping customers to find products when they ask.
I decided to get a part time job at the supermarket thinking it wouldn’t be so busy, but it turns out I’m wrong…weekdays are still manageable, but weekends are really hectic.
It was really tough at first, but I’m starting to get used to it.
To think about it, I’m thankful that I have such kind senpais to help me with my job.
They practically taught me about all of the things I should know about my job.
As I’m thinking about such thoughts, I realize that my shift has finally ended.
Ahh…finally done.
I’m exhausted today as well.
Well then, time to head home.
After changing from my work uniform into my casual clothes in the locker room and saying goodbye to the senpais, I start to walk home.
As I’m absentmindedly walking home, I suddenly hear a clear, feminine voice from behind.
“Shogo-kun, is that you?”
Her voice sounds familiar.
Curious, I turn around and see my childhood friend, Nanami.
Seeing Nanami’s face, I can’t help but widen my eyes in surprise.
Eh? Nanami?
What’s she doing here…?
“Shogo-kun, it’s really you. Fufufu, long time no see.”
“O-Oh, yeah, it has been a while, Nanami.”
I never imagined I’d run into Nanami in a place like this…
If I remember correctly, Nanami is a university student now too, right?
I wonder if she has a boyfriend right now. If she doesn’t, maybe…there’s a chance I can go out with her?
Wait, what am I even thinking?
After all, I just met her for the first time in such a long time.
“Yeah, it really has been a while, Shogo-kun. How have you been?”
“W-Well, you know…”
“Fufufu, I see, I see. Ah, you’re in college now, right? Have you made any new friends at university?”
“Uh, no, not yet…”
“Fufufu…not yet, huh? Well, it’s hard to make friends in college.”
I have some friends back in high school, but I still don’t have any in college.
Right now, I’m just a loner.
Ahh…I feel like crying.
“Well, being a loner isn’t so bad. You’ve got a cute girlfriend, after all.”
“A cute girlfriend? What are you talking about?”
“Shogo-kun, you’re still dating Honoka-chan, right? Then, being a loner is fine.”
“……”
What is she talking about?
Honoka and I broke up a while ago.
Ah, that’s right. Nanami doesn’t know that we broke up yet.
“I already broke up with Honoka a while back. I’m single now.”
When I said so, Nanami let out a surprised,
“…eh?”
She looks confused.
“You broke up with Honoka-chan…?”
“Yeah, we broke up.”
“No way, that doesn’t make sense at all! You two were so in love with each other. Why would you break up with her? Don’t you like Honoka-chan anymore…?”
“No, it’s not like I stopped liking her…I still love her.”
“……”
“I really didn’t want to break up with Honoka. But she asked me to break up with her because she fell in love with someone else…so I had no choice.”
Yeah, that’s right.
I still love Honoka, but she doesn’t love me anymore…
Hah…it really hurts.
I want to forget about her as soon as possible, but I just can’t get her out of my head.
It’s like I’m being cursed with this love…
“…what about you, Nanami? Do you have a boyfriend now?”
“Eh? Umm…no, I don’t. I’m single too.”
I see, so Nanami is single too.
I figured she’d definitely have a boyfriend since she’s so pretty.
If she doesn’t have a boyfriend yet, then maybe there’s a chance for us…
“Shogo-kun, have you had dinner yet?”
“No, not yet.”
“Then, how about we go somewhere to eat together?”
“Eat together…?”
“Yeah, is that okay?”
“W-Well, it’s not like it’s not okay.”
“Fufufu, then it’s settled!”
“……”
With that, I end up having dinner with Nanami for the first time in such a long time.
It’s a bit awkward having dinner with my childhood friend after not meeting her for so long, but I can’t help feeling a bit hopeful.
