Chapter 25: An Unavoidable Dramatic Showdown Erupts

Thud thud. I heard footsteps like that. The sound gradually came closer. It stopped in front of my room. Then after a brief pause, the door opened.

“Haa—”

“Hakk—”

““Huh?””

Muna and Haruna witnessed the scene of me and Rin-nee sleeping together. Yep, that was the start of a battlefield. I didn’t know what time it was. But at the absolute worst moment, only my consciousness came sharply back. 

Here, I’ll pretend to be asleep and get through this peacefully without being noticed. And if I’m lucky, I’ll just fall asleep again like this!

And as if trying to keep me from sleeping, Muna made the first move.

“Rin-chan. What are you doing with my Haa-kun? That’s clearly against the rules, isn’t it? Those are rules you decided yourself, right?”

“Rules? What are you talking about? I merely did something we used to do back in kindergarten.”

“More importantly, why are you here?”

“I’ll explain that. Well, to put it simply, this was my mistake.”

After that, Rin-nee explained everything that happened today. That I had regained my memories of her, that I had been beaten by Tanaka after school, and that as an apology, she came to stay over.

Also, what rules?

“I prioritized Hakkun and could only tell Tanaka to leave the scene. I’m sorry. For now, I’ll revise the school rules again.”

“Thanks for that, Rin-chan. If you hadn’t been there, who knows what would’ve happened to Haa-kun. Honestly, maybe it’s fine to just kill that trash Tanaka right now. But! I don’t think that’s a reason to sleep together!”

Muna-saaan? Muna-saaan?? You’re saying something really dangerous here. Kill him? Tanaka?

As I listened to their argument thinking “Wow, this is bad,” I suddenly felt a slight ticklish sensation around my stomach.

“Suu… hehe, Hakkun’s smell is so comforting.”

That was Haruna. She was probably burying her face into my stomach. 

What is with this girl, she’s seriously cute. I almost jumped up without thinking.

“Ah, wait a second, Haru-chan!!”

“That’s my special spot! Haruna, would you move, please?”

“No way! I’ve already claimed this spot. Bleh.”

“Hey, you! Let go!!”

Of course, Muna and Rin-nee weren’t going to let that slide. They tried to forcibly pull Haruna away. But Haruna clung onto me, refusing to let go.

No, seriously. At this point, I might need to stop them. I don’t really want to get involved in a battlefield like this though.

“Can you guys keep it down a little…”

It was getting to the point where we might actually get complaints, so I finally stopped them. Besides, Mom might say something too. Right now… it was 2 AM. Wait, 2!?

“Oh, you were awake, Haa-kun. Good morning.”

“Good morning, Hakkun.”

“This is not ‘good morning.’ Why are you casually coming to my house at 2 AM?”

“Because we got a spare key from Mother-in-law.”

“That’s not the issue here… seriously.”

I was already starting to get used to this. How strange, it hadn’t even been a week since I learned their true identities. Anyway, no matter what I said, it probably wouldn’t work. And I couldn’t have them making more noise. More importantly, I was getting sleepy, so I decided to settle this peacefully.

“Then let’s just have all four of us sleep together. That works, right? We’ll bother the neighbors otherwise. Come on.”

Let’s all sleep together. Then maybe I’d remember something. As for tomorrow… yeah, I don’t need to think about that now.

“I’m sorry, Hakkun.”

“Thanks, Hakkun. If I’m with you, I feel like I’ll have really happy dreams.”

“Haa-kun, excuse me.”

Wait, hold on. Putting Rin-nee and Haruna aside, what’s with Muna? She suddenly got really close. What, does she like me??

And so, in the end, Rin-nee was on my right, Haruna on my left, and Muna by my feet. When I threatened not to sleep with them, they quickly listened, so things went smoothly. “Muu-chan, that’s amazing too!”

It was summer, with cicadas buzzing loudly. A girl with long black hair reaching her waist, another girl with short black hair just brushing her ears, and a boy were running around on the sandy beach. They gathered shells and handed them over, gathered and handed them over again. By the time the sun began to set, the arms of the three were covered in sand.
