ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
I sent a message to my family saying I didn’t need dinner, then turned my gaze to Tanatsuki-san beside me. I didn’t usually look at people this closely, but… wow. She was really beautiful. Fairly tall too. I think she said she was 160 cm.
“Yeah, I’m 160 cm.”
“Huh?”
Hold on. Why is she casually reading my thoughts?? That’s scary. Seriously scary. Well, putting that aside…
She had a decent height, a very slim figure, and a voluptuous chest. On top of that, she had a friendly personality. No wonder she was popular in class. We entered a random fast-food place, sat down, and started talking at a relaxed pace.
“By the way… When did ‘e’ realize I was me?”
“Hm? Pretty recently. Around early April. Also, you can just call me Muna, Hara.”
“Wha- that long ago!?”
It was mid-May now, so that meant she had known for about a month. So Muna had been aware of me all that time. She could’ve told me… that was kind of mean of her.
“If I told you, it’d be boring, right? Besides, having someone’s weakness one-sidedly is really fun.”
“Wow, that’s mean! And stop reading my mind! Are you some kind of esper!?”
“It’s just what you get from knowing someone for so long~”
“It’s only been like two years.”
“I think two years is plenty long. So—”
Muna stared at me with a beaming smile for a while. What was this… I had a really bad feeling about it. No, nothing but a bad feeling for sure.
“I’ve got plenty of your weaknesses in my hands.”
Bullseye. I started recalling everything I had told Muna. My type, my preferences, daily complaints, and all sorts of other things. I think… I even said she was cute, though I didn’t mention her name. Embarrassment and a vague urge to disappear flooded me all at once.
“Just kill me.”
“Huh? No thanks. Why would I have to kill my future husband?”
“…What?”
“Oh, no, wait. I mean, why would I have to dirty my hands?”
…Did she just say something insane? No, unless I misheard, I was pretty sure she had said “future husband.” …Yeah, no way. That had to be my imagination.
“R-right. Anyway, what was that voice message about? I’m not going to tell anyone, of course.”
“Then I’ll tell you. But in return, can you help me?”
“…Alright. If it’s something I can help with.”
I deliberately set a condition. I’d hear about the voice message, but if her request was unreasonable, I’d refuse. It might be a bit low of me to do that, but I had to protect myself too. Just as we started talking, the burgers and fries we ordered arrived, so we continued while eating.
“Thanks! So, about the voice message… you probably already figured it out, right?”
“Yeah. You like Tanaka, don’t you?”
“Yeah.”
She answered immediately. She really did answer immediately… but her smile didn’t quite reach her eyes. A chill ran down my spine for a moment. What was that? Still, as expected, it was about Tanaka. But wasn’t that kind of heavy…?
“The help I want is for you to tell me things from a guy’s perspective. I want to do a lot for Haruki.”
“That’s fine, I guess. But are you sure? You’re okay with me knowing all this?”
“It’s fine if it’s you. Totally. Oh, and like you probably guessed, I sent that to the wrong person. Pisco voice messages start with one tap, so if it’s in your pocket it just records on its own. I hate that.”
Yeah, I thought as much when I heard it. No one would willingly send something like that. Especially not if she knew I was Hara.
“Hey… Do you think I’m too much?”
“Pff—!”
That came completely out of nowhere. I was drinking my juice when she asked, and I ended up spitting some out.
That’s bad… how uncouth. Luckily it didn’t hit Muna.
“Hey, that’s gross! What was that for!?”
“Sorry, it went down the wrong way. Glad it didn’t get on you.”
Now then. What was the right answer to this!? She was obviously too much! But if she was the type to be sensitive about that, I’d end up hurting her! Still… should I be honest—
“Well, to answer your question… I don’t think you’re heavy. Regardless of what others might think, wanting to suddenly hear the voice of someone you like is pretty normal.”
I couldn’t say it. There was no way I could say it. Not when she was looking at me with those anxious, teary, puppy-like eyes. There was no way I could say she was too much..
“I-I see! Right!? I’m not too much, right!? That’s a relief!”
And just like that, she blossomed. Just seconds ago, she looked like a puppy about to be abandoned, but now she was completely bright again. A full, genuine smile from the bottom of her heart.
What is with this girl… she’s seriously cute.
“W-well! I’ll be asking you lots of questions like this, so take care of me. And someday, with Haa-kun…”
“If I can help, I will help you anytime you need me. I’m rooting for you. Hope things work out with Tanaka.”

After we finished eating and paid, we headed home. Muna remembered something she had to do, so we split up quickly. But there was one thing that bothered me. It was when we parted. As we waved goodbye in front of the store, she said something, and for just a moment, her expression seemed to cloud over.
She looked… a little lonely. I couldn’t hear what she said.
『e: Thanks for going along with me on such short notice today. Looking forward to working with you.』
『hara: Yeah, same here. Oh, by the way, I forgot to ask… the other three in the group aren’t our classmates too, right?』
The group Muna made had five members. Me, “hara,” Muna as “e,” and then “Runa-kun,” “Hamihami,” and “Overworked Salaryman Alien.” There was a chance the others could be from this school too, so I wanted to make sure.
『e: It’s fine, it’s fine! I don’t know the others in real life.』
『hara: That’s good. Also… did you say something when we parted earlier?』
『e: No? What, are you hearing things? That’s kind of creepy.』
『hara: Probably. Sorry, forget it. I’m going to take a bath.』
『e: Oh, can I ask something? What kind of side dish would you be happy to see in a lunchbox?』
That was random. And did it even matter? I didn’t know Tanaka’s preferences. Well, I might as well answer normally.
『hara: Hmm… something simple, like octopus-shaped sausages. Those are just good.』
『e: That’s kind of childish. Thanks, see you later.』
『hara: Shut up.』
I turned off my phone and headed to the bathroom. On the way, I thought I heard a camera shutter sound. But it was probably just my imagination. I must have been more tired than I thought. I should get to sleep soon and rest properly.
