- My Mental Choices Are Completely Interfering with My School Romantic Comedy
- Volume 1 Chapter 1.4:
“Phew…”
When I finally reached the door of my home, I couldn’t help but let out a sigh. I’m exhausted… today was just so tiring. On top of the rush of choices, there was also the irritating interaction with Yukihira and Yuuouji.
However, when I opened this door, there was no family to greet me with a warm “Good job” or “Welcome home.”
Since my dad’s transfer, my mother went with him, so right now, the only person living in the Amakusa household is me. It’s what people would call a “gal game” state.
Thinking about how tough it will be to prepare dinner so soon, I opened the door while feeling a bit like a housewife.
“Zzz…”
…There’s something here.
“Zzz…”
…Rather, something is sleeping.
Sleeping. Something is sleeping incredibly peacefully in my hallway.
I don’t understand… I have no idea what’s happening. When did this happen? When was I put under some sort of spell?
My mind was still a jumbled mess, but my body moved on its own. I crouched down and vigorously shook the creature’s body.
It slowly rubbed its eyes and, still half-asleep, looked up at me.
“Fumyu… Who are you?”
“I should be asking you that!”
Still, I knew exactly what this creature was. Soft, golden hair, a tiny body, a relaxed voice… Without a doubt, this was the creature I met this morning, called Chocolat.
“Ah, it’s Kanade-san, welcome back!”
“Ah, uh, I’m back… Wait, no, that’s not right!”
Her smile was so natural, so innocent, that I ended up responding without thinking.
Calm down. It’s no use thinking about it all at once.
“First… first, how did you get into my house?”
Before worrying about her motives, this was a physical issue. The key I just used is still in my pocket, and the spare key was left inside the house.
Chocolat smiled brightly and said:
“I used special clay to make a copy, and had a locksmith make a spare key for me.”
…That’s a full-on crime.
“Kanade-san, are you alright? You look pale.”
“I’m freaking out! I’m freaking out over your actions!”
I understood. This creature was just an intruder. There was no time to question her, I had to physically make her leave. That was my resolve, but just as I reached out…
“I’ve come to help you break your ‘curse,’ Kanade-san.”
“…What?”
My movement stopped.
“Could it be… the curse is about the ‘Absolute Choice’?”
For some reason, I thought that instinctively. Sure enough, Chocolat nodded.
No way… I remember Utage-sensei saying something about preparations to let go of the choices, but…
“Well, well, it’s awkward talking in here. Let’s go inside and talk.”
“No, why are you the one saying that?”
It was suspicious… just suspicious in every way. But when I heard that she might be able to lift the Absolute Choice, I couldn’t immediately throw her out.
“Alright, let’s go.”
Led by Chocolat, who seemed like she was on her way to a field trip, I entered the living room.
“…What is this?”
The room temperature was perfectly maintained. The fragrant smell of tea tickled my nostrils. There were beautifully shaped handmade cookies that were pleasant to the eyes. It was a space of supreme relaxation.
“I thought you’d be home soon, so I prepared everything!”
If this were a wife’s line, it would have been lovely, but coming from a complete stranger, it just felt eerie.
“Go ahead, don’t hold back.”
“No, why are you the one saying that?”
I sat on the sofa as I was urged, and reached for the steaming tea.
“How is it?”
“Well, it’s good, but…”
Chocolat’s face lit up with a big smile. Along with that, her tail also perked up.
“I knew it! This tea is really high quality!”
Well, I bought it, so I already know that.
Next, Chocolat offered a plate of cookies.
“How about these?”
“Well, they’re good, but…”
Again, her face lit up.
“Yes, I knew it! These took a lot of effort to make!”
Well, I baked them, so I already know that.
“Anyway, let’s get to the point.”
I motioned for her to sit on the other sofa.
“Yes, what is it?”
After waiting for Chocolat to sit, I opened my mouth.
“No roundabout talk… Do you know how to get rid of the Absolute Choice?”
“Yes!”
Chocolat nodded easily.
No way… Can it really be done? Can the thing that’s been tormenting me for the past year really be erased?
“Please, tell me!”
I couldn’t hold back my excitement and stood up reflexively.
“Kanade-san, calm down. Actually, I don’t know how to do it.”
“Then, who does?!”
In response to my desperate question, Chocolat calmly said:
“God.”
“……………………What?”
