Chapter 10: Invasion of the Beautiful Girl
I’ve been separated from my sister……
The time has finally come. I suppose it was too much to ask for it to last.
Maybe we’ve been found out.
This happened only a few days after we started dating.
There was no way things could stay this way forever.
The inevitable moment arrived, triggered by a single remark from a certain student.
Yes…… one comment from Unfortunate Higashide tore me and my sister apart!
“Sensei~~ aren’t we gonna shuffle the seats?”
“Oh, that’s right, I completely forgot. There are some kids who have a hard time seeing the blackboard, after all.”
I felt my sister flinch in the seat in front of me.
Because we were seated in attendance number order, Shiori was directly in front of me. Naturally, people with poor eyesight would end up stuck in the back.
“Okay, kids with bad eyes come to the front—everyone else can sit wherever they want,” the teacher said. The moment she spoke, a chaotic mix of gazes from both the boys and girls swarmed toward Shiori……
Sensing the mood, our twin-tailed lolita teacher, Shiroi-sensei—
Nickname: Judgment.
Don’t ask me desu no(sarcasm, usually a line said by haughty ojou-sama’s) why she has that nickname……
“Well, this isn’t going to settle itself, is it? I’ll make some lots right now~~”
She quickly drew a grid on the blackboard, labeling the columns A, B, C and the rows 1, 2, 3. She wrote “A-1,” “A-2,” and so on on slips of paper, snipped them with scissors, pulled out the numbers for the kids with bad eyesight, and put the rest in a bag…… Her efficiency was terrifying……
“Alright, pick one~~,” she chirped, going around the room and having us draw.
“D-4, huh.”
Back row by the window. It’s a nice position where you can watch PE classes in the courtyard, get lost in thought during lessons, or maybe get recruited into some weird brigade. I looked up to find my sister in front of me staring at my hand with an incredibly sad face.
The number she held was “A-2.” Front row by the hallway.
She looked at me with watery eyes.
I feel like ever since we started dating, my sister has been turning into a total klutz.
Man…… how am I going to comfort her when we get home?
As I was pondering that, Unfortunate Higashide called out from behind me.
“Yo, what’d you get? I’m D-5.”
……Shiori, someone needs to comfort me too!
Well, even if our seats were close, it’s not like we could openly flirt.
Since Shiori is the class popular girl, it’s hard for us to spend time together anyway.
“Nothing really changes just because our seats are apart.”
I was rehearsing these comforting words for later, but the real problem probably wasn’t the distance between seats, was it?
“Yuuuuu, we’re neighbors~.”
Asami, who ended up in the seat next to mine, spoke to me with a beaming smile.
Through the gaps in the crowd of people gathered at the front of the classroom, a piercing gaze shot toward me.
Ow, ow, ow, ow.
Is this going to be okay~~? Am I going to get stabbed when I get home?
Is she adding “yandere” to her “klutz” traits? Feeling a spark of anxiety, lunch break arrived.
My “beloved wife”—scratch that—”beloved Mom” bento. If I eat here, I’ll end up eating with Asami in the next seat.
It pains my heart to leave the mostly-lonely Asami by herself (for the sake of her honor, I should mention she does have friends).
However, I don’t want to see any blood (whether it’s mine or Asami’s), so to avoid a “Nice Boat” ending, I grabbed my bento and scurried out of the classroom.
Oh, there’s a bench in the courtyard.
I went down to the first floor, circled the building, and reached the courtyard. Sitting there was a beautiful girl with silver hair and blue eyes.
Thinking Damn, someone beat me to it, I gave a light nod and tried to walk past.
“Go ahead,” she said, patting the spot next to her.
I felt like I was being semi-forced to sit, and since I had no reason to refuse—
“Ah, then… excuse me, if you don’t mind.” I sat down next to her and opened my bento.
the silver-haired beauty didn’t seem to pay me any mind, quietly pecking at her own lunch.
Man, this is awkward. Would it have been better to eat with Asami and take my chances with the Nice Boat?
Just as I was thinking such irreverent thoughts—
“Heh heh heh,” the girl began to laugh.
“It’s been a long time, Yuu. It seems you’ve forgotten all about me(boku).”
Huh? A bokukko? (T/N: The girl uses boku to refer to herself, girls usually uses ‘watashi’. Boku is usually reserved for timid guys or tomboyish girls.)
I turned my head, and the smiling silver-haired girl pushed up her bangs as she looked at me.
“Wait! Aaaaah—you were a girl this whole time?!!”
I told you I had a ‘few’ friends—one of them had returned as a girl after several years.
