My Girlfriend Wanted an Open Relationship, So I Broke Up with Her and Found a Sweet Yandere - Chapter 28
I thought about it.
“It stays with you,” I said at last, finally gathering my thoughts. “Bad time stays.”
I stared down at the road ahead. “it’s like a scab that never quite heals.”
“…Is that so,” Hayami-sensei murmured.
Silence settled over us again, and not long after, we reached my place.
I got out of the car and closed the door gently. “Well… I guess this is it. I had fun. And thanks for dinner.”
She nodded, easing the car into reverse.
I turned around—
“Yuuta,” Hayami-sensei called.
“Hm?”
She hesitated, fingers tightening slightly on the steering wheel. “I don’t have your contact. You know… like earlier, at the café. I had no way to reach you after you left.”
…Huh?
For a second, I just stood there, the words not quite landing. Then they did—and something small but unmistakable shifted in my chest.
“Oh,” I said. “Right.”
That shouldn’t have surprised me. It made sense. And yet, the fact that she’d noticed—enough to bring it up now—caught me off guard.
I reached into my pocket, pulled out my phone, and unlocked it. The screen’s glow felt too bright in the quiet street.
“Um… I can give it to you,” I added, a little late. “If that’s okay.”
Hayami-sensei smiled, relieved in a way she didn’t try to hide. “Yes. That would be good.”
I stepped closer to the car and held the phone out through the open window. She took it, her fingers brushing mine for just a moment as she typed. Her movements were careful, deliberate—like she didn’t want to rush this, even though it was such a small thing.
She handed it back. “There.”
I glanced at the screen. Her name was already saved.
“…Thanks,” I said, not entirely sure why I said it.
She nodded, then hesitated, engine still idling. “Get some rest, Yuuta.”
“I will.”
Another pause. Not awkward. Just… unhurried.
“Good night,” she said.
“Good night, Sensei.”
She pulled away slowly, the car disappearing down the street, taillights fading into the dark.
I stood there a moment longer than necessary, phone still in my hand, the cold air brushing against my face.
Then it buzzed.
A new message.
[I’m glad you told me.]
[Don’t text while driving!]
I sent it as I stepped back into the apartment.
I barely remember anything after that. Shoes kicked off, jacket dropped wherever it landed. The moment my head hit the pillow, everything went dark.

Next Morning
I woke up to light filtering through the curtains and the dull awareness that my stomach was empty.
The fridge confirmed what I already knew. Eggs—two left. A limp vegetable drawer. Leftover rice from… sometime this week. Milk that smelled fine if I didn’t think about it too hard.
“Yeah,” I muttered. “Groceries.”
I cooked anyway. Scrambled eggs, rice reheated in a pan, whatever seasoning I could justify. It wasn’t great, but it was warm. Living alone teaches you how to make peace with good enough.
I ate, cleaned up immediately, and checked the time.
Still had a bit before I needed to catch the train.
I sat down at the table and opened my notebook, flipping to the page I kept coming back to. Rent. Utilities. Food. Transport. I did the math out of habit, pencil moving automatically.
Everything balanced—as long as the scholarship stayed where it was.
My laptop chimed.
I frowned and opened it.
One new email.
University address.
The subject line made my chest tighten.
> Notice Regarding Scholarship Status
I clicked it.
The message was short. Too short.
> This email is to inform you that your university scholarship has been withdrawn, effective immediately.
For further clarification, you are required to meet with the Scholarship Review Committee Coordinator.
Details regarding time and location are listed below.
That was it.
No explanation.
No warning.
Just… gone.
I stared at the screen, the numbers in my notebook blurring as my grip tightened around the pencil.
“…You’ve got to be kidding me,” I whispered.
[A/N: I know this one’s a bit shorter but!!!!! Last one was a bit longer… yeah jk I’ll upload more to make it up to y’all.]

Bro just cannot catch a break…
mc has many enemies
I can’t help but feel like there’s someone messing with his scholarship. We weren’t given any indication that he wasn’t still doing well with his grades and it’s all too coincidental. Maybe his dogshit family? Maybe his ex’s fuckboi group? Maybe his sensei to make him dependent on her?
