- My Girlfriend Wanted an Open Relationship, So I Broke Up with Her and Found a Sweet Yandere
- Chapter 11: Haruka POV
[Last Night]
Haruka sat back in her chair, staring at the bracelet as if it might give her all the answers. She felt guilty, yes, but there was also a strange relief in the decision, a perverse satisfaction that came from justifying it to herself.
It wasn’t like she hadn’t thought about this for months. The idea hadn’t come from nowhere.
Back when she started university, the world had suddenly seemed so much bigger. She met people who spoke about freedom in relationships as if it were a natural part of life. Saya and Karen, her closest friends, had boyfriends but still indulged in open relationships. They spoke about it so casually, laughing about how it kept things “fresh” and “fun.”
Haruka hadn’t understood it at first. It felt so different from everything she and Yuuta shared. They were high school sweethearts, after all—the kind of couple people would call a “perfect match.”
But the more time she spent around her friends, the more she found herself envying their freedom.
It had stayed as envy for a while. She’d convinced herself to keep her head down and stay loyal. Yuuta was everything to her, and she couldn’t imagine hurting him.
Until the senior.
He wasn’t even someone she liked—not like that. But he was charming, confident, and he made her feel seen in a way she hadn’t felt in years. It wasn’t love, or even infatuation; it was curiosity. He reminded her of all the things she thought she might be missing.
That was when the envy became something else.
Her friends had told her it wasn’t cheating if both partners agreed. That open relationships weren’t betrayals; they were just another way of loving each other. “It’s about trust,” Karen had said once, with a sly grin. “If you both agree, it’s not wrong.”
And so Haruka had convinced herself it wasn’t wrong.
It wasn’t like she didn’t love Yuuta. She loved him more than anyone else in the world. He was her anchor, the one who always stood by her. He was hers, and she was his.
But she was greedy too.
Why couldn’t she have both? Her love for Yuuta wouldn’t change just because she wanted to experience something fleeting. She wasn’t looking for a new relationship. She didn’t want anyone else to replace him.
She told herself it would be fine. She’d read stories about couples who grew stronger after giving each other space to explore. Some articles even called it “relationship growth.”
So, she decided it was okay.
It was okay to want this freedom for a little while. It wasn’t forever. Once this phase passed, she’d dedicate herself entirely to Yuuta again. He’d always be the one for her—the one she’d come back to.
She repeated this to herself, over and over, as if saying it enough times would make it true.
Her friends’ laughter echoed in her mind. Their easy confidence, their certainty that this was normal. Haruka wanted that. She wanted to believe she wasn’t doing anything wrong.
Because she loved Yuuta. She really, truly did.
Didn’t she?
Haruka’s lips pressed together as she thought back to how Yuuta had reacted when she told him. The image of his stunned, almost betrayed expression flashed in her mind, and she felt a pang of guilt—brief but sharp.
But it wasn’t like he’d fought her on it. After the initial shock, he’d just… accepted it. That was the kind of man Yuuta was. He was too kind, too loyal, and maybe a little too trusting. He would never say no to her.
It made her heart ache in a way she couldn’t fully describe. She hated seeing him hurt, but she knew she could fix it.
“I’ll make it up to him,” she whispered to herself, her fingers brushing the bracelet again.
After all, Yuuta was hers. Once this was all over—once she got this fleeting curiosity out of her system—she’d devote herself entirely to him again. She’d coax him back into her arms, shower him with love and care. She’d make sure he knew he was the only one who truly mattered.
But she couldn’t let him explore the same way she was.
That thought alone made her stomach churn.
No, Yuuta wasn’t like her. He wasn’t doing this for curiosity or personal growth. If he ever wandered, it wouldn’t be something fleeting—it would be something real. Men were like that, after all. Creatures of their carnal desires. They didn’t approach these things with the same logic and control that women did.
She trusted herself to come back to him. She didn’t trust him to do the same.
That’s why she needed to keep this short. Whatever exploring she did, it had to be over quickly—before Yuuta even considered taking advantage of the arrangement himself.
Because in her mind, it wasn’t the same.
She wasn’t doing this because she wanted anyone else. She wasn’t driven by lust or love for someone new. This was just about experience, about satisfying the small, gnawing thoughts that had taken root in her mind.
It wasn’t betrayal. It wasn’t cheating.
It was her being… curious.
And once that curiosity was satisfied, she’d go back to Yuuta. She’d love him like always. She’d be better, even.
But only as long as he didn’t stray.
“I just need to keep him close,” she thought, clenching her fists lightly. “I’ll make sure he’s okay. I’ll take care of him. And then, everything will go back to normal.”
She nodded to herself, as if that settled everything. Her mind wandered to how she’d surprise him with his favorite foods, hold his hand like she used to, and show him how much she cared- she’ll do more than just feeding him too!
In the end, she’d win him over again.
She always did.
At that moment her phone flashed a message and the sender was saved as,[SENPAI]
