Chapter 77: Beauty Dungeon, Released
In late April, on the first day of Golden Week, Hiroyo and others gathered in the Master Room. They waited to release the completed Beauty Dungeon.
The release time was noon. They made a gate appear at Tama River. The Adventurers’ Guild Association’s magic detectors, placed in various locations, detected the gate. This announced the dungeon’s appearance.
They had informed Kirino’s grandfather, Genroku Hyoudou, in advance. The dungeon’s appearance was posted on the adventurer-exclusive website. This informed adventurers about the Beauty Dungeon.
“I’m getting excited…” Hibiki says.
“But all we do now is watch. We don’t have anything left to do, right?” Saori replies.
They spent about four weeks discussing and building the Beauty Dungeon. Seeing their planned dungeon become reality was hard to describe in words.
Hiroyo originally aimed to be an adventurer. He lacked a gift, so he took a different path. By some twist of fate, he now worked with adventurers.
His role was different, but he felt happy to be involved with adventurers. Naturally, he felt excited.
“It’s time,” Ecoa announces.
The moment arrived. Ecoa confirmed it was noon. She waved her hand in an empty space.
“Go ahead,” Hiroyo says.
“Yes, Master. I open the gate,” Ecoa replies.
She operated something with her hand. A gate appeared on the first floor shown on the monitor.
—
“Emergency! We detected immense magic power near Tama River in Tama City! This matches the reaction of the giant gate that appeared before!” a staff member reported.
At the Adventurers’ Guild Association headquarters, the Dungeon Gate Management Bureau, a staff member reported the gate’s appearance. He looked at a giant monitor displaying a map.
“Chairman! This is—” the staff member began.
“Yes, I know. Release the information,” Genroku Hyoudou instructed.
Genroku stood behind. As Kirino had informed him, he ordered the information be posted on the adventurer-exclusive website instead of keeping it secret.
About ten minutes later, the gate’s location on the map was posted on the adventurer-exclusive website.
—
On an underground bulletin board used by adventurers, the new dungeon gate’s appearance caused a stir.
It was understandable. The released information was completely different from usual.
“A gate appeared in Tama City!” one post read.
“What!? The rank is F to S…? What does that mean?” another replied.
“What’s this? The rank changes? I’ve never seen a dungeon like this!” a user commented.
“But if it connects to an S-rank dungeon right away…” someone worried.
“If that’s the case, the Adventurers’ Guild would properly announce it,” another reassured.
“Then it might be a dungeon where the rank increases as you go deeper!” a user speculated.
Adventurers began analyzing the information from the website.
Normally, a dungeon posted on the site had one rank displayed. Adventurers chose which gate to challenge based on that. This time, the F-to-S rank display was new. Their surprise was natural.
—
“You all, a new dungeon appeared! We’re going!” Kirari Amano shouted.
In a large mansion in Tokyo, Kirari called out to five adventurers she employed. The mansion belonged to the Amano Group, which owned Sword Axe Co., Ltd., a company specializing in dungeon weapons, manufacturing, processing, and trading.
Originally, the group had a different business. After dungeons appeared, they started this company and profited greatly. They also did business with Japan Dungeon Guild Co., Ltd., run by Kirino’s father.
A young girl with long blonde hair styled in drill-shaped twin-tails spoke. She was Kirari Amano, the daughter of the Amano Group’s chairman and a B-rank adventurer.
At seventeen, she formed the Kirari Corps Guild. With the power of money, she hired adventurers and rose to B-rank in just one year.
On Kirari’s orders, she and her hired adventurers prepared and headed to the Tama River gate faster than anyone.
“What… what is this place…?” Kirari gasped.
She was shocked. Normally, gates were just big enough for one person to pass through. The gate at Tama River was a massive five meters by five meters.
“The magic power is incredible…” one adventurer remarked.
Those who could sense it understood. The gate held an extraordinary amount of power. A torrent of magic swirled within it.
“No use getting scared! Let’s go!” Kirari commanded.
“Understood!” her adventurers replied.
Kirari’s armor was high-end, thin but enchanted with effects. The five adventurers also had top-quality weapons from Kirari, shining like new.
The six, including Kirari, entered the gate.
“This is surprising… Eight doors after entering the gate? This isn’t normal,” Kirari noted.
Usually, passing through a gate led to vast nature or caves. The Beauty Dungeon had a small room prepared.
Kirari approached the rightmost door. She noticed a box installed beside it.
“What… five hundred yen? An entrance fee? …It’s true. It won’t open,” she said.
She tried opening the door, but it was firmly shut. There was no keyhole, so she realized the box required money to unlock the door.
“Lady Kirari, this dungeon feels man-made,” a large adventurer from her team said.
“Indeed… Paying five hundred yen is a new mechanism. Oh well. Put in the money for everyone,” Kirari ordered.
“Understood,” the adventurer replied.
They inserted three thousand yen for six people. When they touched the doorknob again, the door opened.
“Let’s go, everyone!” Kirari declared.
“Yes!” the adventurers shouted.
They opened the door and passed through.
“Huh?” Kirari muttered.
At that moment, disaster struck.
“What!? Aaaahhhh!” Kirari screamed.
The moment they stepped forward, the floor became a steep slope. Everyone slid down it.
“Lady Kirari!” an adventurer called.
The slope was coated with slimy, pink, translucent liquid. They couldn’t stop. The liquid stuck to their bodies, covering their pristine armor and faces in sticky slime.
“Aaaahhh! It won’t stop! What is this!?” Kirari shrieked.
