Chapter 50: The Idol’s Struggles
“Ugh, ugh… where… am I?”
Hiroyo Takanashi opened heavy eyelids and looked up at an unfamiliar ceiling.
His memory was still fuzzy, and he couldn’t recall when or why he had been sleeping.
However, he recognized the bright light streaming through the curtains, indicating it was morning.
“Ugh… my head hurts…”
“Huh?”
A sweet voice came from right beside him.
He tilted his face to the right and saw a goddess-like face, still with makeup on.
It wasn’t Hibiki Hayashido. The person was—
“Nikaido-san!?”
“Morning~”
“Haha, naked!?”
“Oh~ looks like we messed up, huh?”
The person sleeping next to him on the right was the super-popular model Koi Nikaido. She was completely naked, and though she seemed hungover with a headache, her face still looked stunning.
“Mmm~ what’s that~?”
“Still sleepy…”
“…Morning?”
“Uh…”
Then, the left side and inside the blanket stirred, and three voices reached his ears.
Hiroyo checked them all and saw Ayasa Awashima on the left, and inside the blanket were Sara Kido and Hibiki. All of them were completely naked.
“Ugyaaa!?”
“Shut up~ Be quiet!”
“…Warm. Snuggle closer…”
“Hiroyo… morning.”
“It’s not a good morning!”
Hiroyo was also completely naked.
As Ayasa tightly grabbed his left arm and pressed it between her breast, Sara and Hibiki poked their faces out from the blanket.
“We really went all out…”
Though it should have been a joyful situation for a man, Hiroyo sighed and looked up at the ceiling.
◇ ◇ ◇
“Oh, it’s Goomin!”
Since Hiroyo and Hibiki had the day off, they stayed over at Koi’s house instead of going to school. Their memories were hazy, but they recalled a wild night.
In the morning, the five of them showered, prepared breakfast, and ate together in front of the TV.
The TV was showing news about the idol group “SPICE MIX,” commonly called “Supami.”
“The leader of ‘SPICE MIX,’ Minami Nagumo, will take a long break due to worsening herniated disc issues,” the news reported.
“What!? No way! Goomin!?”
Koi, who called Minami Nagumo “Goomin” affectionately, showed a surprised expression.
“That news bothers you?” Hibiki asked.
“Well… Goomin’s from the same agency, and I’ve watched her work hard for years…” Koi answered.
“She’s right. We even invited her here once,” Sara added.
Koi responded to Hibiki’s question.
“SPICE MIX” was a three-member teenage idol group formed five years ago, now among the most famous in Japan.
From the conversation, Koi seemed close to Minami Nagumo.
“She did seem to have back pain sometimes, but a herniated disc… their dances looked intense…” Koi said.
“Supami’s known for their dancing, right?” Hibiki added.
Hibiki also knew about “SPICE MIX.”
While their singing was notable, their signature was their distinctive dancing. If the intense dancing worsened her herniated disc, Minami might even leave the group.
“Goomin said ‘Supami’ was just getting started… a back injury’s really bad, right?” Koi muttered.
“Back issues are bad for any sport or entertainment. Even models might struggle to walk gracefully,” Sara agreed, munching on her food.
Koi leaned close to Hiroyo’s ear.
“Hey, Hiroyo. Can’t you heal backs or something? Got a skill like that?”
“Uh… no, I don’t. Sorry,” Hiroyo replied.
“No, no, don’t feel bad. I was just asking,” Koi said.
Koi asked Hiroyo if he could help her friend Minami Nagumo, but Hiroyo didn’t have a skill to fix backs.
After breakfast, Hiroyo and Hibiki left Koi’s house first.
“Let’s hang out again, both of you!”
“Bye-bye!”
“See you later, Hibiki-tan~”
The three saw them off at the door.
“Yeah!”
“Thanks for having us!”
The two bowed lightly and left Koi’s house.
◇ ◇ ◇
“What a crazy day…”
It was winter, around Christmas, and though it wasn’t snowing, the temperature was quite low. Hiroyo wore a down jacket, and Hibiki wore a coat.
“I didn’t expect we’d stay over. I planned to go home, but you got drunk, Hibiki,” Hiroyo said.
“You were the one sucking on Koi’s breast milk, so what’re you saying~?” Hibiki teased.
“No… that’s hard to resist. It’s probably some kind of skill,” Hiroyo replied.
“Yeah… once you start, you don’t want to stop…” Hibiki agreed.
Hiroyo and Hibiki, who sucked on Koi’s breast together, clearly remembered that shocking moment.
Their memories of what followed were still vague.
“But I’m glad Koi’s doing better…” Hibiki said.
“Yeah. Her breasts size went up a rank too. She can probably restart her modeling career,” Hiroyo added.
“I’m so happy… I wanna see Koi on TV again soon!” Hibiki said.
Hibiki, smiling brightly, grabbed Hiroyo’s arm as they headed to the nearest station.
Then, it happened.
“—Oh… I got it,” Hiroyo muttered suddenly, showing an unusual reaction.
“Huh?” Hibiki asked.
“This…!”
“Hiroyo?”
“Back! Bones!”
“What?”
“That idol girl! I might be able to help!! Her herniated disc!”
“No way~!” Hibiki exclaimed.
Hiroyo, recalling Koi’s earlier mention of Minami Nagumo, shouted loudly, claiming he might have learned a skill to heal her herniated disc.
◇ ◇ ◇
“Ow, ow, ow…”
In a room in an apartment, a girl lay on a bed, holding her waist as she sat up.
“You okay, Goomin? Should we change the bed? Like those electric ones?” a voice asked.
“Yeah, you shouldn’t use your back too much~” another voice added.
Goomin, Minami Nagumo, the leader of the idol group “SPICE MIX,” was surrounded by two worried girls. One was Kiyoyo Hondou, nicknamed “Kiyon,” and the other was Rui Ogata, nicknamed “Ruirui.”
“Yeah… I’ll think about it. I have to live with this, right?” Minami said.
Her herniated disc was a fatal condition for an idol group centered on dancing.
She first noticed something wrong with her back two years ago. She managed it, but the relentless intense dancing finally pushed her to her limit.
“You should’ve canceled the Christmas live, but you’re so stubborn, Goomin,” Kiyoyo said.
“I couldn’t let down the fans who bought tickets. Stopping wasn’t an option for me,” Minami replied.
“And now you might not be able to return at all!” Rui cried.
During the Christmas dome live, Minami performed through the pain for hours but collapsed afterward.
After a hospital visit, she was told to rest at home, but she could barely walk without help.
“Yeah… I really wanted to live in the moment… but I’m sorry for troubling you two,” Minami said.
“It’s fine~ But figuring out how to move forward with this natural airhead is a challenge…” Kiyoyo said.
“What~!? I won’t let that slide!” Rui protested.
Rui was known among fans as a natural airhead. Minami charged forward like a boar, and Kiyoyo balanced them out skillfully.
If even one of them was missing, “SPICE MIX” would face serious issues.
“Alright, alright. Let’s spend New Year’s together here,” Kiyoyo suggested.
“Agree!” Rui cheered.
“Sorry for making you worry. But I’m happy,” Minami said.
New Year’s was approaching.
They should have been setting new goals and moving forward, but a gloomy New Year’s seemed inevitable. That’s why the two decided to stay with Minami.
“If only Goomin’s gift could fix this…” Rui said.
“My ‘Flexibility’ doesn’t help with bones. It just makes my body softer than others,” Minami explained.
“But that’s what makes your unmatched dancing possible, right?” Kiyoyo said.
Minami’s dancing in “SPICE MIX” was extraordinary, largely due to her gift “Flexibility.” Her gymnast-like graceful moves and incredible softness were her strengths.
However, her bones couldn’t keep up with her gift. Even with a gift, there were limits.
“A gift… it made me famous, but it might’ve shortened my idol career too,” Minami said.
“If only I had a gift to heal Goomin~!” Rui said.
“Adventurers have healing gifts, but I haven’t heard of one that fixes bones. We just have to focus on rehab…” Kiyoyo said.
“Yeah…” Minami agreed.
Then, Minami’s phone rang, signaling an incoming call.
Minami exchanged a glance with the two before picking up the phone and answering.
“—Koi-senpai!? It’s been a while!” Minami greeted energetically.
The caller was Koi Nikaido, a model from the same agency.
