My Gift Is “Beauty”. I Think It’s Useless, but It Seems to Be an S-Rank Gift With the Strongest Buff Effect for Beautiful Girls - Chapter 30.1: Dungeon Tour (2)
Chapter 30.1: Dungeon Tour (2)
“Wow!”
Hibiki felt a strange sensation, like dipping her face in water, and then she sensed clear air, different from Japan’s, as a silver world spread out before her completely.
This place was a dungeon. Summer approached outside, yet a winter scene unfolded inside—though the temperature hovered slightly above twenty degrees. Snow did not fall from the cloudless blue sky, but it accumulated about ten centimeters on the ground steadily.
Hibiki directed her gaze forward and saw a frozen lake and snow-covered mountains clearly. This dungeon presented a space where temperature and phenomena contradicted each other starkly.
Hibiki and her group sparkled their eyes with excitement and gazed at the dungeon’s atmosphere in awe for the first time.
Of course, dungeons did not always boast such beautiful locations frequently. However, this tour’s destination was exactly such a place.
(It’s a C-rank dungeon, right?) Mizuki thought uncertainly.
The moment Mizuki entered the dungeon, she felt unease distinctly. Possessing the skill “Magic Vision,” Mizuki sensed magic beyond what her eyes could see sensitively. She felt an unusual presence vaguely, but the Adventurers’ Guild staff at the gate had checked everything, so no mistake should exist.
(I hope it’s just my imagination, but I’ll tell Asumi and Haruka just in case,) Mizuki decided cautiously.
Despite her worry, Mizuki chose to share this unease with the two quietly.
“Everyone, we will move to the lake’s vicinity first,” Mizuki announced firmly. “If a monster appears, follow our instructions strictly.”
Mizuki led the participants forward slowly while speaking confidently.
“Hey! I can scoop this snow with my hands properly!” Hibiki exclaimed excitedly. “But it’s not cold at all.”
Hibiki scooped snow with both hands and tossed it upward playfully. The powdery snow scattered and fell on Hiroyo’s head, but it didn’t feel cold, so he didn’t mind much.
“It’s true! It’s strange!” Hiroyo marveled aloud. “It’s completely different from Japan.”
Such impossible environments and phenomena occurred commonly in dungeons. Hiroyo knew this fact already, but confirming it himself filled him with joy intensely.
“Amazing! So amazing!” Hiroyo shouted enthusiastically.
Hibiki scooped snow, tossed it upward like Hibiki, and followed the group forward eagerly.
“Hiroyo looks like he’s having fun,” Hibiki observed happily.
“Hehe, yes,” Kirino agreed softly. “It’s completely different from the snow I make.”
“Wait, Kirino, you can make snow too?” Hibiki asked curiously.
“Yes, I can make ice, so I can make snow too,” Kirino explained confidently.
“I don’t understand the logic, but that’s amazing!” Hibiki praised sincerely.
Kirino scooped ground snow with her left hand and created snow in her empty right hand swiftly. She let Koharu touch it, and Koharu gasped in surprise loudly.
Cold snow and non-cold snow existed in this place simultaneously, creating an even stranger sensation vividly.
The group proceeded and reached the frozen lake, where they took lunch eventually. No monsters appeared until then.
“Black Wolf Guild, can we talk for a moment?” Mizuki asked politely.
“You’re from Tenchi Guild… Hosaka, right? Sure, it’s fine,” Ryogo Maki, the leader of the three, responded casually. They sat on folding chairs, eating their packed lunches comfortably.
Mizuki decided to share her unease with them openly.
“This dungeon feels a bit strange, don’t you think?” Mizuki questioned cautiously.
“What part feels strange to you?” Maki asked curiously.
“Well, almost an hour has passed, but not a single monster has appeared yet,” Mizuki explained thoughtfully. “Also, for a C-rank dungeon, this space feels unusual.”
Indeed, visibly strange spaces usually indicated B-rank dungeons or higher typically. Mizuki and her group had reviewed the guide map beforehand, but the high temperature with falling snow felt off significantly.
“You’re right,” Maki admitted slowly. “But we came here on a request. We’re not that familiar with Tokyo’s dungeons. There’s a strange vibe, but C-rank dungeons can have spaces like this too, right?”
“If you put it that way, I can’t argue,” Mizuki conceded reluctantly. “Just stay alert, please.”
“Got it. Even for a C-rank, we can’t let our guard down,” Maki agreed sincerely. “Thanks for the heads-up.”
Maki responded to Mizuki sincerely. Despite his muscular appearance, Maki was a well-known, intelligent adventurer in Aichi, possessing considerable insight and strength. He had come to expand his knowledge of other regions’ dungeons deliberately.
“You guys stay alert too, as she said,” Maki instructed firmly.
“Understood,” one member replied obediently.
“Got it,” another affirmed casually.
Mizuki finished talking and returned to her group’s resting spot quietly.
(As expected of an A-rank, she doesn’t overlook small details,) a man thought secretly. (But that caution won’t matter.)
The man ate lunch and watched Mizuki’s back as she left silently.
◇ ◇ ◇
“Now we begin the second half of the schedule,” Mizuki announced clearly. “We’ll head to the snow mountain’s base. Monsters might hide behind trees, so don’t stray from us.”
Mizuki and her group led the participants, who followed closely behind. After walking for about fifteen minutes, the mountain’s slope came into view gradually. They didn’t climb, as protecting all participants in the forest would be impossible.
At that moment, rustling sounds came from the snow mountain’s tree shadows suddenly.
“Everyone, step back!” Mizuki commanded urgently.
Tension ran through the participants instantly.
“Hiroyo, I’ll protect everyone, so don’t worry,” Kirino reassured gently.
“Thank you,” Hiroyo responded gratefully.
The strength gap between A-rank adventurers and C-rank monsters was vast. Death was highly unlikely, but for participants seeing a monster directly for the first time, the mere threat felt terrifying.
Mizuki drew her sword and stepped forward confidently. A bear-like monster, “White Beard Crow,” appeared menacingly. Covered in white fur, it stood two meters tall, blending with the snow but marked by red eyes and sharp black claws prominently.
“Asumi! Haruka! Provide support!” Mizuki ordered swiftly.
“Leave it to me,” Asumi replied confidently.
“Got it!” Haruka affirmed eagerly.
Mizuki formed a battle stance and charged forward quickly. The “White Beard Crow” roared and attacked aggressively. It swung its right arm, but Mizuki dodged with a simple sidestep and used “Vacuum Slash” to strike its side fiercely.
Blood sprayed, and the “White Beard Crow” screamed in pain, writhing violently. The battle was nearly decided, but Mizuki left the finishing blow to Asumi.
“Here I go!” Asumi shouted boldly.
Asumi raised both hands, and a fireball formed instantly. The heat alone made participants gasp in awe. She launched a one-meter-wide fireball at the “White Beard Crow,” incinerating it completely.
“Wow!” the participants cheered loudly.
They clapped in admiration, thrilled by their first monster battle and the A-rank adventurers’ overwhelming strength, feeling joy and relief profoundly.
(A White Beard Crow? It’s not impossible in a C-rank dungeon, but it feels slightly strong for the first floor,) Mizuki thought uneasily.
Dungeons had floors, and their structure varied, but the first floor’s monsters were typically weaker than the dungeon’s rank. Stronger monsters appeared on lower floors gradually. The “White Beard Crow” could appear in B-rank or even A-rank dungeons’ first floors, which fueled Mizuki’s unease further.
