Chapter 14: Elder Sister and the room for confessions.
““Gouchisousama deshita.””
“How was it? Did you like it?”
“Yes, it was really delicious.”
After dinner, Kousuke and Ren sat down and talked. It was Kousuke’s first time trying moussaka, but he found it to be very delicious.
“…Oh, it’s already this late.”
Looking at the time, it was the usual time for Ren to head home.
“Well then, I guess, I will head home for today.”
And goes to see her off at the entrance, but…
“Nee-chan?”
Nee-san didn’t make a single move from there.
‘Just what’s wrong’,
thinking that, when I came up.
“Say, Kou-kun, there’s something you want to ask me, right?”
“?!”
“Fufu~, you’re showing it out too much through your body language. So, what do you want to ask?”
(Did I really show it that much?)
Kousuke had been suppressing the desire to ask Ren about the questions based on the conversations he had with Risa.
He thought he had hidden it well, but it seemed, for his elder sister. It was just obvious.
Kousuke took a deep breath and prepared himself.
“Ren… No, Nishimiya Ren… Are you… really my older Elder Sister?”
“…………Eh?”
Ren opened her mouth and froze.
“Um… Well…”
Kousuke was also surprised by her unexpected reaction, so they both fell into a silence.
The awkward silence was broken by Ren’s deep sigh.
“Ha~a… I didn’t expect the question to be from this point… Really unexpected.”
Ren held her head in her hands.
“Um…”
“Hey… why did you even think something like that?”
“Well, it’s just that Ri— I mean, my childho—… No, Yes! Someone close to me, told about that.”
“So, you just believed what that acquaintance said and started to doubt me?”
“Eh? …Ah! …—yes.”
Kousuke couldn’t articulate a proper response even though he was the one to ask the question.
He probably asked it impulsively without fully organizing how he would back it up in his thoughts.
Seeing Kousuke struggling, Ren sighed again and said,
“Haa… Now I understand why Risa was worried and acted that way… I guess even I went too far. I’ll apologize to her later.”
Ren mumbled something under her breath, but then she suddenly raised her head with determination.
“…Alright, Kou-kun!!”
“Yes!?”
“If you doubt me that much, then let’s go to my room right now!!”
“Eh…? To your room, Ren-san?”
“Yes, that’s right. In my room, there are lots of mementos of our memories together. If I show you those, Even you’ll have to understand, won’t you.”
Ren asks him that, but given Kousuke is a teenager, who was in the midst of adolescence,
This was not all that he was going through in his mind now.
(Eh!? Going to Ren-san’s room now? To a room of a girl same age to mine!? …But Ren-san is my Elder Sister, …wait! Aren’t I doubting that right now… Doesn’t that mean… What should I do!?)
Kousuke’s mind was going overloaded with thoughts.
However, getting tired of waiting for his response,
Ren stood up.
“Come on, Kou-kun, get up! Let’s go already!!”
She grabbed Kousuke’s hand and forcefully pulled him along, while he was still undecided, taking him with her into her room.
