Those which ended up broken apart ①
“What’s wrong, Ren? Are you okay!?”
When she turned around, there was her mother looking at her with a worried expression.
“…Mom.”
“For now, let’s calm down… okay?”
“YOU!… I understand.”
Strangely enough, Ren was barely able to suppress her anger on her mother. Maybe at that moment, she still wanted to believe in her mother to some extent.
Afterward, they left her grandmother’s room and went to the living room, sitting across from each other. Her mother looked at Ren’s face, seeming slightly relieved.
“So, Ren, what’s wrong? Did something unpleasant happen? I might not be very helpful, but you can still talk to me.”
Her mother looked at her with a concerned expression. But her attitude irritated Ren.
“Say… Mom, are you hiding something important from me?”
“Eh… Wh—what do you mean?”
She noticeably looked around with wide eyes and seemed flustered.
I took out my grandmother’s diary and handed it to her.
“Say, Mom… Did you… contact Ko-kun?”
“Uh… Ye—yeah.”
Her mother understood what she inferred and remained silent for a moment, but she admitted it nervously.
(Why is she acting so nervous? It’s as if I’m the one at fault here.)
Ren glared at her mother with frustration. The pressure on her increased, causing her mother to become even more nervous.
“…So? Can I hear it from your own mouth, Mom.”
“…ok.”
Her mother started talking about her relationship with Ko-kun.
It was her grandmother who initially suggested sending a letter.
At that time, her mother was mentally unstable and didn’t remember much, but apparently, her grandmother said to her, “Aren’t you worried about Kosuke-kun? After all, you were also his mother for sometime.”
Following her grandmother’s advice, she, her mother had been sending letters and such, but she was suddenly told to stop sending them and was rejected when she tried to meet Ko-kun after that.
“I think I was foolish back then. I obediently followed whatever I was asked, because of which, I ended up hurting Kosuke-kun.”
Mother weakly smiled. Honestly, before this anger, I pitied my mother.
I asked the question I wanted to know.
“…Say, Mom, then why didn’t you —-tell me anything about it at all?”
