What Ren wants to protect ②
“Now then, from where should I start?”
Ren entered her grandmother’s room and began cleaning.
The room was flashy, filled with branded bags placed here and there.
“Un? Is this some notebook?”
While cleaning, I found a notebook in an odd place.
“Or perhaps a diary?”
I decided to read the notebook.
“…Eh… What does this even mean?”
The matter written there was no less than a nightmare for Ren.
“On [date],
Regarding the matter we’ve been discussing, the issue with that child, things aren’t going well. The other side is not letting the child get close to us. We need to think of another way.”
“On [date],
Our daughter is useless. I tried making phone calls through her and even made her write letters, but it didn’t go well. And when we tried to meet, they told us not to get close to Kosuke. What on earth is wrong with that kid? Truly useless.”
“On [date],
I tried asking Ren to send a letter, but she strongly refused, so I gave up. Well, it was worth a try, but let’s give up on that now.”
“Haa…?”
Ren was dumbfounded.
(Eh? What does this mean!? My Mom… Was contacting Ko-kun?)
“This is… unbelievable. How could she…?! How could she not consider my feelings…!!”
Ren had distanced herself from Kosuke to protect him. Yet, her mother had been secretly in contact with him, obediently following her grandmother’s orders.
And on top of that, she had been rejected when she tried to meet up with him. This meant she had done something significant enough to be rejected.
Ren felt intense anger toward her mother for the first time.
“…Anyway, I need to keep reading.”
Ren started reading the continuation of the diary.
There, it contained various things, from discussions about Ren to neighborhood gossip and even travel plans.
*Paraparappitta
Flipping through the pages, her fingers that had been smoothly progressing suddenly stopped.
“Mom… Just how far… Did you?”
The content was something like this.
The place where her mother currently worked was apparently arranged by her grandfather’s influence. It seemed that her grandfather’s intention was to get her mother to remarry the president of that company, Mr. Nishimiya, who had been there before.
Well, that’s fine, and well within expectations, what was unexpectedly mentioned was that both sides had developed feelings for each other. It was written that it was only a matter of time until remarriage.
In other words, while Ren had been desperately struggling to protect her, her mother had been meeting and hurting Kosuke, forgetting about her deceased husband, our deceased father who had passed away in an accident, and engaging in a romantic relationship with another man.
“Fufufu… Hahaha… I …FOR WHAT DID I… WORK SO HARD… AND … PROTECT…?! KUAAAHHHHHH!!!”
*Gashan!
Ren’s emotions overflowed helplessly. Anger, and sadness compelled each other, as she burst into tears and went into a frenzy. After all, she had put in so much effort, and so much effort to protect…, and yet, this was the actual result.
It was understandable.
…Unforgivable. Unforgivable. Unforgivable. UNFORGIVEABLE. AAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!
“Wha—-what’s wrong, Ren? Are you okay!?”
When she turned around, there was a woman looking at her with a worried expression towards her.
