Abominable days ③
Ren began to take action from the next day itself.
The first thing she tackled was her own appearance.
Ren was aware that there was a stark contrast between her present appearance and her mother’s.
Therefore, in order to slim down her chubby figure, she started a hard diet.
She also learned various things such as makeup, fashion, and manners.
And the result of all this was, she, Ren obtained an appearance that anyone would be envious of.
Next was her studies.
Ren’s academic performance was not at all good at that time.
And initially, no matter how much she studied, went to the library, she wasn’t able to achieve her desired results. But, she persevered, and after sometime, her grades started improving rapidly.
However, with her improved appearance and grades, she became a target of jealousy. Moreover, rejecting the confession of a popular boy at that time triggered bullying in her class.
It all started with being ignored, then escalated to having her stuff hidden, being her desk and belongings scribbled on, and then having water poured on her as well.
(Sigh… annoying. I don’t have time to deal with you all. …I should crush them quickly.)
With that mind, Ren begin her action.
But even if she said that, what she did was rather simple.
She captured the moment of what happened to her through hidden cameras and then anonymously sent it to the Ministery of education and other important addresses, including the bullies’ neighborhood and their homes.
She also pointed out to those bullies, with kindness when they would occasionally try to put someone else’s belongings in her backpack as it was probably just a mistake on their part.
The result, the bullying stopped. Afterwards, all the students responsible for bullying underwent a complete personality change. They became visible dark and gloomy, some even transferred. But Ren had no interest in them whatsoever, as she just couldn’t care less, and they got what they deserved.
Given that incident, Ren was now treated as someone deviant and was isolated.
Time passed, and Ren became a junior high school student.
In school, she continued to be isolated as there were her previous classmates from elementary school who would spread rumors about such incidents.
In the midst of such days, two major events occurred.
The first: Thanks to her mother’s continued visits to the mental health clinic. Even though she was yet to completely recover, she was recovered to the point of able to talk normally now.
“Are you really okay now?”
“Yeah… I don’t want to have Ren worry about me forever after all.”
She had been hospitalized once, but she recovered enough to start working of course with the doctor’s permission.
Ren was glad about her mother’s recovery, but she had mixed feelings. The reason was that, seeing their daughter recovering, her(mom’s) parents were already hinting towards her remarriage.
Although they are still subtle about it for now, she was sure, it would gradually worsen.
The second event was: Her grandparents giving up on Ko-kun, Ren’s younger brother, with regards to the inheritance.
They apparently wanted to get even that remaining money that Ko-kun had inherited.
And that was why Ren planned such when her Grandparents would come to her asking about Ko-kun,
“Say, Ren-chan? That child, um, yeah, Ko-kun wa it?”
“…I’m sorry, Grandma. I don’t even want to hear that kid’s name.”
“Is—-Is that so? But he was our family once right dear.”
“I never considered him as family; never once.”
She made it clear to them that she disliked Ko-kun from the bottom of her heart.
As a result, her grandparents gradually lost interest in Ko-kun.
Well, in exchange for that, they were now trying to find a wealthy fiancé for her, a junior high school student. …beyond disgusting.

Such days continued for Ren, but suddenly, a turning point came.
“Ren? What’s wrong?”
“…? It’s nothing… Mom.”
“It can’t be nothing, your complexion, it doesn’t look good at all… Are you okay?”
“I’m just feeling a little unwell.”
“If that’s the case, you should rest quietly for today.”
That day, as her health felt not well, she decided to listen to her mother’s advice to stay on bed and sleep throughout the morning.
“Haaah, even though it’s a day without those scums at home, and yet.”
This day, my two of my grandparents were on an overnight trip. well, the money was belonged to me and my mother.
…so conceited and open minded.
“Haah …… I need to get some rest. After all, they’ll be back by tomorrow evening.”
Ren was exceptionally frail for the day.
Perhaps it was because of her poor health,
or perhaps, the sense of security that came from the absence of her grandparents….
…or perhaps it was both.
Ren carelessly reached out her hand under the bed and took out a photograph. It was a picture of Kosuke.
“Haah, Kou-kun ♡. Your Oneechan is doing her best. …Me, admirable? … Fufu~ Thank you.”
Ren talked to the picture.
This photo,
In order to show her grandparents that her relationship with Kosuke had been severed, she had thrown away all her mementos.
Except for this, the only memory of Kosuke that she kept.
For Ren, it was the source of her emotional support at stressful situation.
“…I’m sorry… just for a little longer… ok …Even I don’t want to do this anymore… I feel sick… it feels so hard… Please, help me… Father… Ko-kun…”
Ren teared up.
…Of course it was natural for her, she was still in her junior high school after all.
“…!! …… Ren!”
Suddenly, she hears her mother’s call. Her voice seemed somewhat impatient.
“What’s wrong!? Hik-ku! …Mother, really what happened?”
My mother came running towards me, immediately opened the door and came in.
“Haah…haah … You see, I just got a call from the hospital. It seems Grandpa and Grandma were rushed in there.”
