My Childhood Friend Who is My Girlfriend was Stolen by My Best Friend. From Now on, I'll Flirt with My Ex-Best Friend's Little Sister! - Chapter 33
Two Weeks Later
Since then, my childhood friend hasn’t come over to see me.
We go to the same school, and although we are in different classes, we’re in the same year, so we do run into each other sometimes.
But even so, she doesn’t call out to me like she used to.
She had been clinging to me ever since I broke up with her at the family restaurant.
After that, I ran into her at the train station and pushed her away. Next, she waited outside my house for hours. Then, there was that confrontation on the way to my family’s wagashi shop. Finally, she broke into my house. Listing out all those events, you can see how persistent she was.
Anyway, for now, my childhood friend has distanced herself from me.
I think it’s safe to interpret it that way.
By the way, it’s already been two weeks since that incident with my childhood friend.
The month has changed, and it’s now December.
Nothing particularly noteworthy has happened in the last two weeks.
Just to be clear, it’s not like I want something to happen.
However, things have been too peaceful. My former best friend hasn’t made any moves since then. There’s no sign of my childhood friend coming back to me, and she hasn’t done anything to harm Rinka either.
It feels like the calm before the storm, though I’m sure it’s just my imagination.
That aside, Rinka is still living with me.
“W-What should we do, Senpai!?”
“Hmm?”
As I’m working on my math homework, Rinka who is flustered sits down beside me.
“I just got a message from my mom asking me to come home…I refused, but it seems like my dad is suspicious about where I’m staying.”
“…I see.”
His daughter has not been home for two weeks…that must be though for a father.
In fact, I’m surprised it lasted this long.
“Is that all you have to say? Senpai, are you really okay with me leaving?”
“It’s not like we’re saying goodbye forever. Besides, if Mika-san is telling you to come home, it means things with him must have been sorted out.”
My former best friend has romantic feelings for Rinka.
Even though they’re step-siblings, family is still family. For Rinka, having her older brother harbour romantic feelings for her must be incredibly unsettling.
However, the fact that Mika-san asks her to come home must mean that it’s safe for her to return.
“That might be true…but I don’t want to stop living with you, Senpai.”
“…l-living together sounds like an exaggeration, doesn’t it?”
“A boyfriend and girlfriend living under the same roof, just the two of them. If that’s not living together, what is it?”
“…sorry, I guess we are living together.”
Looking at it objectively, I must admit that we are doing something pretty bold.
Even though I’m just a high school student, I’m living together with my girlfriend.
On top of that, we’ve only been dating for less than a month.
If Rinka’s father finds out about this, I don’t even want to imagine what will happen.
“Anyway, Senpai, I don’t want to stop living with you.”
“Y-Yeah.”
“That’s why I have a favour to ask you.”
“A favour?”
“Can you talk to my father directly?”
“…huh?”
“I’m saying I want you to get my father’s permission for us to live together.”
My peaceful days come to an end when my girlfriend asked me for something outrageous.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The time passed in the blink of an eye.
It’s now a Saturday in early December.
I stand in front of Rinka’s house.
“Alright, let’s go, Senpai!”
“W-Wait…you’re rushing things!”
Rinka grabs my arm and start pulling me along.
I plant my feet and resist, raising my voice in a panic.
“We’re going to convince my father. The sooner, the better.”
“No, before convincing him—am I even going to make it out alive? I mean, isn’t this the kind of situation where I could literally get killed, regardless of the circumstances?”
The idea of a high school girl living with her boyfriend would be enough to make any father pass out.
I can’t rule out the possibility that his jealousy might flare up, sending me straight to my grave.
“Senpai, are you really okay with not living with me?”
“If you put it that way…well, it’s not exactly something to be proud of…”
“Hmph. There’s no way we’re turning back now after coming this far. Come on, let’s go.”
“O-Okay…”
Being led by Rinka, I follow her inside the house.
When we open the front door, no one is there.
There is no sign of Mika-san coming out from the living room either.
Rinka seems a little uneasy, but she doesn’t stop walking.
When we reach the living room, she reaches out for the door.
Suddenly—
The door opens on its own.
Someone appears from inside, about five centimetres taller than me.
He’s an undeniably handsome man, even through his glasses.
“I’ve been waiting for you, Rinka.”
As soon as he—Shintaro Nakajo, sees Rinka, a smile appears on his face.
Noticing me standing half a step behind Rinka, he adjusts his glasses by pressing the bridge with his middle finger.
“…Toshiya, it’s been a while, hasn’t it? I hate to interrupt your plans to meet my father, but could you cancel that for now?”
“What do you mean?”
“How about you and I have a little fight?”
