Sense of Defeat

They decided that one of us will go to my classroom to see whether Kana is still there or not. It has to be only one person, because if we all go, they will definitely notice us.

If I’m the one who go, and Kana sees me, there is a possibility that some kind of action will be taken against me. If Setsuna and Kurusu senpai are the ones who go, Kana and her friends will be wary of them, they are the faces of the student council and are celebrities at this school after all, they attract a lot of attention around them. So it is decided that Hana is the one who will go.

If the target is still in the classroom, Hana will monitor the situation, and if the target leaves the classroom, Hana will contact us by her smartphone.

Then about five minutes after Hana went to scout on Kana, she calls me on my phone.

“Hello?”

“Come right away.”

“Why?”

“Just come here, now.”

After hearing my conversation with Hana, Setsuna and Kurisu-senpai rushes out of the student council room. I decided to follow them to my classroom too.

As I arrive at my classroom, the three of them are looking inside the classroom from the hallway while hiding themselves. Hana seems to be taking pictures with her phone.

Looking by at the situation, I can guess what’s happening inside the classroom.

I can’t bring myself to see it. I walk away from the classroom and sits down on a nearby staircase.

Hah, I guess we should break up after all…

This is a pain in the ass…

Even if we break up, we will still be in the same class and see each other every day…

Besides, it will be hard for mom if she finds out Kana and I broke up…

It will be hard for me to meet Kana’s family as well…

Because of these thoughts, I’m late to notice the approaching voice behind me. There is no other choice for me to see that thing I don’t want to see because I’m too late to run away.

Kana, who is talking happily, and a smiling handsome boy walk past me as I’m sitting on the staircase.

It seems that Kana didn’t notice me, but the boy’s eyes met mine for a moment, he just walks right past me without changing his expression.

What a great sense of defeat.

My stomach starts grumbling.

As soon as they are out of sight, the three of them run up to me.

Setsuna hugs me tightly.

“Setsuna-san…I can’t come to school with Kana-chan tomorrow…it’s too painful.”

“Yeah, let’s stop pushing ourselves. Starting tomorrow, you’ll go to school with me, okay?”

“And…I have a stomach ache. I need to go to the bathroom.”

With that, I get up and shut myself in a nearby restroom.
