Student Council Dilemma

After the class ended, I glance at Kana, who is happily chatting with her friends, and leave the classroom with my bag.

When I enter the student council room, Setsuna and the vice president, Kurusu-senpai, are already here.

As I come into the room,

“Mugi-kun, thank you very much for your hard work today.”

Setsuna said to me.

Then she continues to talk to Kurisu-senpai.

“Yuki-chan, can I talk to you for a second?”

“What is it, Setsuna-chan?”

“I know this is sudden, but me and Mugi-kun are going out with each other.”

“What? Eh? Eh? Eh? Wait a minute! Mugi-kun, don’t you have a girlfriend? You were talking about her yesterday.”

“Yeah, he has a girlfriend, but I’m his girlfriend now.”

“Wait a minute, wait a minute! You broke up with Kana-chan!?”

“Well…they haven’t broken up.”

“Eh! Two-timing! Mugi-kun is two-timing!?”

“Calm down! Listen to me! I’ll tell you everything about how this happened!”

“You mean there is something going on?”

As Setsuna and Kurusu-senpai are making loud noises, the door rattles open and Hana Kishimoto, a student council member, comes in.

“What’s going on? I heard loud voices from all the way down the hall.”

“Hana-chan, it seems that Mugi-kun and Setsuna-chan are having an affair, and I’ve been asking them about it.”

“Oh, so that’s what you were talking about the two-timing thing.”

“No that’s not it, that’s why I’m telling you to listen to me!”

Kishimoto-san is a first-year student like me and is in charge of the student council accounting.

By the way, I am the secretary of the student council. The three of us, myself, Kishimoto-san, and another first-year student, Yasui-kun, decided our positions by Amida lottery.

“If Yasui-kun comes too, everyone will be here today. I wonder if Yasui-kun will come here today.”

“No, he’s not coming.”

“It’s fine then. Well, we’ll start explaining to Hana-chan now.”

Then I explained about the current situation of my relationship with Kana (at school and in class) to Hana. I also told Hana that Kana-chan and I started dating in middle school. I did not tell her anything related to sex, though. It’s not something that I can tell a girl so suddenly.

As if to continue my explanation, Setsuna explained what she had seen in front of the station yesterday and the details of our discussion at the coffee shop.

“After seeing Kana-chan, Mugi-kun’s face turned pale and he ran away. I couldn’t stand it any longer, I was at my limit, I dragged Mugi-kun to a coffeeshop and told him to break up with Kana-chan, but Mugi-kun still wouldn’t break up with Kana-chan, so I decided that I will become his new girlfriend and show Kana how it’s done. I thought that if I did that, she would feel threatened, scared and frustrated. So Mugi-kun is not two-timing Kana-chan, it’s more like he is having a physiological warfare with her?”

Setsuna didn’t tell Hana anything about our plan to have sex and kiss each other.

“Hmm I see, but if Kana-chan isn’t cheating on Mugi-kun, wouldn’t that make the two of you the bad guys?”

“No, no, no, Yuki-chan, you say that because you didn’t actually see it yourself! Even if it isn’t cheating, she should’ve been accused for cheating, it was very suspicious!”

“Then, why don’t we go and see for it ourselves?”

“I guess so. It is certainly suspicious from what you told me, but it doesn’t mean it’s okay to cheat on her as well.”

“Okay then. Let’s go now. The student council is not busy anyway. Mugi-kun, do you know where Kana-chan is hanging out today?”

“Eh? I don’t know.”
