—-The atmosphere inside became suffocating the moment Reiss muttered ‘Run’ in a very quiet voice.
I slipped out of his arms, grabbed the Queen’s treasure sword, and distanced myself.
Reiss stood up, his red eyes lit up, and there was a hollow darkness within them. He drew the sword from his waist with a familiar motion. The way he twisted his mouth into a cold smile sent me flinching.
This was not Reiss.
“The contract is finally fulfilled. Will you give your life quietly?”
The demon that completely took over Reiss’s body along with his consciousness, asked me that question in a terrible yet happy manner using Reiss’ voice. Gladly, this wasn’t the night with a full moon. Even during the day, the evil that was floating in the air frightened me.
I shook my head and put all my strength into my hands to hide my trembling body, and held up my treasured sword.
“I don’t want to be killed by a demon.”
“Then we’ll take it by force and spill lots of blood. How do you want me to kill you? Pierce you in the chest, in the belly, or in the neck. Wherever you cut open, the blood will flow. I have been suppressed for too long. It gives me great pleasure to torment the petty lives of my prey in this way. Shall I let you choose how you want to be killed?”
“Shut up. Don’t speak with Reiss’ voice anymore.”
I slowly retreated, feeling the dirt and grass against my soles. The demon had only just begun to surface, and this was not yet enough to separate from Reiss’s body.
I need to attract the demon more using my life, so he’d take the bait.
“If you can take it, why don’t you?”
I smiled provocatively, and the white blade glinted as it was pointed at me. I reflexively jumped to the side and the skirt of my white costume was torn apart.
But the skin was unharmed. It was more like I was being played with than being… tamed.
The devil who approached me in a blink of an eye slid his sword down and aimed at me again, but this time he caught me with the treasure sword.
Normally, there was no way I could handle the sword fights of Reiss under the control of a demon, no matter how much my Uncle Alan taught me about swords as well as physical training when I was a child.
However, the Queen’s treasure sword could only be used by the spirit princess. If I succeed in controlling my spiritual power, the sword would naturally guide me to protect myself with absolute strength.
I’d been training with Marina for a long time.
If it comes down to a contest, I would naturally be outmatched by force. As soon as they crossed blades, they would immediately retreat. The basic rule the Queen told me was to duck and always keep my distance.
“Mind you? When the devil awakens, don’t fight him head-on. I deliberately loosened the protection I had given to you. By nature, the devil prefers to hunt down his opponent slowly. Take it in the wrong direction and do your best to overcome the situation and that would gain time for the devil to come out. ”
… Yes, the Queen said, “Don’t fight.”
I’ll just ‘escape’ until the perfect opportunity comes up to catch the devil.
Well, it was still dangerous, so until the end it hated me for carrying out this operation. It was a little difficult to calm Uur, who shook his watery tail and cried, “No, no, Suu is doing something dangerous!”
But it’s okay, Uur.
Don’t worry.
I’m not going to give my life to the devil.
I’m not going to die here, nor I’d let Reiss die.
That was what I had decided to do, and that was why I’m facing the Demon.
“You’re stubborn. Resisting will only prolong your fear.”
The demon laughed as he pointed his silvery glowing sword at me, reflecting the sun.
When the demon’s cruel smile was placed on Reiss’s original extraordinary good looks, his beauty seemed like ice. It was so terrifyingly enchanting that it gave me chills.
With the cold beauty that froze the area, I endured and swallowed in fear then I avoided the sword that was swung again. Perhaps the devil was getting impatient, and I couldn’t avoid the slightly faster movement of him cutting my throat, and a red streak was splattered around his thighs.
I frowned at the slight pain that tingled my nerves.
The dress, which was the costume of the spirit princess, was already in shatters. If Roa saw this, she would probably scream.
My long hair was unraveled and disheveled, and the sweat was sticking to my face. The hairpin fell onto the thick vegetation and finally made a ringing, empty sound.
“Aah!”
Once again, the demon’s silver orbits tore through the sky, and with a swoosh, heat rushed to my arms.
Even though I was relying on the assistance of the treasured sword, I already wanted to stop and catch my breath from the sudden and unaccustomed movement, and I could no longer keep up.
The wounds I had sustained were still small and shallow, but the pain could not be overlooked. I’m sure the spirits with the power to heal would take care of any minor injuries later, but it still hurt, pained me. The sensation of the blood trickling down my legs and arms was raw and unpleasant.
Seeing my awkward appearance, the devil, with Reiss’s face, gently and gracefully curved the edge of his mouth.
The red tongue peeped out bewitchingly, and the lips arched seductively.
I was pressured by its awesomeness.
In instinctive fear, I took a step back, my legs tangled with fatigue, and I fell on my buttocks on the spot.
“Oh, …!”
In a hurry, I tried to stand up immediately, but before that, the devil approached me. I managed to receive a flash of the devil that was released with the white hem of the knight’s clothes with a treasure sword, but it seemed that the spiritual power that could be used had run out.
Kaan! A high-pitched sound echoed.
The treasure sword was flipped and rolled like junk to the side of the fountain.
“… Now, how do you want me to kill you? I’m sure you’d like me to slit your throat. It’s best to drain blood as your body temperature falls down as slowly as possible. Let’s dye your white clothes red and then get your soul.”
The demon looked down at me as I sat on the ground and pointed his sword at my throat. The sharpness of the inorganic blade in front of me and the cruel words of the demon made my whole body tremble with fear of imminent death.
I was terrified of the red eyes that were clouded with joyful murderous intent that only saw me as a mere ‘prey.’
I wanted to forget my role and drop my eyelids to lose consciousness, but before I could do so, the demon suddenly raised its eyebrows and pressed its forehead.
“D*mn! You and this man are both resisting for nothing…!”
“Reiss…?”
I opened my eyes that were almost closed.
Was Reiss’s consciousness still trying to resist the devil?
For a moment I forgot the fear of being killed, I certainly felt the presence of Reiss, who was trying to protect me forever.
The tip of the sword blurred and slipped away from me.
I didn’t miss the black shadow that wavered like an afterimage behind Reiss as the demon annoyingly shook its head.
A little after.
“… What’s wrong? Aren’t you going to slit my throat? If you want to slash, you can slash it with that sword. I won’t go away anymore. The prey you had been aiming for all the time is here. Just kill me and take my soul. ”
Incite the devil to rush things on purpose.
I forcibly suppressed the ringing of my teeth, and when I stretched my spine and laughed with courage, I found that the black spirit that had begun to exude from Reiss’s body suddenly swelled.
—— Now.
For a moment, I thought that Reiss’s eyes regained their sanity, intersecting with mine.
With a heartfelt and compassionate smile, this time out of place, I reached for Reiss over the devil.
I called out to the queen as if praying, to entrust everything else to her.
