32 Forest of the Holy Bell

“Do you think I look good in this? Uur?”
“Yes. It’s very beautiful, Suu!”
I looked at myself in front of the mirror and asked Uur, who was floating beside me, and he clapped his paws with praise.
I’m not sure if this was me or not, and I was still feeling sceptical about the compliment.
—- The morning of the day I left for the Forest of the Holy Bell.
I am now dressed in the formal attire of a spirit princess.
A light and fluffy dress based on white colour, with specifications that allowed the skin to show through in some places. The front hem was slightly below the knee, and the back hem was longer. When you turned around, the white tail fins gracefully swung around.
A pale pink ornamental cord was wrapped around her waist as a splash of design, which was said to be inspired by the peach-coloured flowers blooming in the church. Lots of the ornaments, such as earrings and necklaces, were also based on these flowers and bells. She also wore white shoes and white lace gloves.
Her hair was tied up in a perfect fluffy arrangement, with just a bit of sideburns hanging down.
It was said that the reason why the hair ornament made a rattling noise when it moved was to add a cool sound to the sword dance.
“It’s just that the female apostles all worked together to make it look so good.”
I observed her face, which was slightly covered with makeup.
It was amazing how a single application of make-up could alleviate the tightness of the eyes. It was hard to get used to looking like this, but I’m glad.
“Well, I also want to dress up to meet Joousama.”
“Uur dressed up?”
Wrap a ribbon around the tail?
I wouldn’t be able to wrap it around his tail because it was … watery.
While I was talking about this with Uur, the time came to leave the room.
We were heading to the back of the top floor. I was going to the back of the top floor, behind a special door called the ‘Guidance Room’ by the apostles, which only those who were selected could enter.
“I’ve been waiting for you, Suria. The knight is already here. Please go here.”
The first person to welcome me was Roa-kun. He bent his slender waist to thank me and led me inside. As he did so, he whispered, “You are very, very beautiful!” I think he has a very promising future.
The room was only slightly larger than the one that was given to me.
However, although the ‘Guidance Room’ was not as large, the polished floor and the ceiling with a painting of a beautiful woman holding out her hand make it a very clean space. The woman on the ceiling with a painting might be the Queen of Spirits.
On the floor in the centre of the room, a label shaped bell was drawn, and a picture of gold rice ears circled around the bell.
Beside the picture of the bell, there were two apostles aside from Mr. Roa. Both were high-ranking apostles with armbands. You could also see the apostle chief standing comfortably.
And.
“Reiss…”
The name unexpectedly spilled out of my mouth.
Wraith wore the same pure white clothes of the Knights as when we met again. From the calm standing and clear face, I could hardly imagine that the devil was inside.
…Reiss didn’t know that I knew he was possessed by the devil and was searching for the truth, and there was a treasure chest of spirits, so it felt kind of awkward.
Reiss, on the other hand, blamed me for my appearance and looked into my blood-coloured eyes as if slightly surprised, but immediately turned his face away with an evasive frown. The gesture of pressing his chest was still there.
If it had been just a little while ago, I would have been irritated and felt a dull sadness, “You mean my formal wear is uncomfortable to look at, you bastard?” Now that I’m slowly starting to figure things out, I feel like there was some other emotion there, and I’m not particularly angry or melancholy.
Rather, I am enthusiastic that I would definitely be able to clarify everything.
But… well, anything on this stage was awkward, so I stood a little farther away from Reiss.
A little bit, a little bit.
“Yes. Shall we begin?”
The Chief Apostle gave the signal, looking at me and Reiss, who were standing in a line with a slight distance between us.
One of the apostles slowly came forward and reverently presented me with the Queen’s treasure sword. While I received it, Reiss stepped out and went to the central bell painting.
The way to get to the forest of —- holy bells was to use a spiritual power called ‘transference’.
Three apostles, including Roa-kun, would help me fly to the branch of the church near the Forest of the Holy Bell and Reiss one by one.
From there on, we will head directly to the Forest of the Holy Bell. The forest was very close to the branch, but there were apostles and spirits there to guide you.
However, the only ‘humans’ who could enter the forest were the spirit princess and knights who received the queen’s blessing.
The apostles gathered around him, starting with the Reiss.
By the way, ‘transfer technique’ was difficult, the limit of travel distance was fixed, and it seemed that it could be done only under certain conditions. …Thinking about that, I wondered if it was a convenient power that Bell used, the power of the devil to kidnap humans from anywhere in an instant.
Demons would give people too much power.
But the price was very heavy.
I stared at Reiss’s broad back, which had grown much more than I remembered from the past.
After all, the most interesting thing was the content of his contract with the devil.
What price was Reiss being forced to pay? When I meet the Queen, I’ll … first ask her about it.
“In the name of our queen, I will begin the ceremony.”
The other two folded their hands as if in prayer.
Then, a particle of light came out of nowhere and enveloped Reiss. In a blink of an eye, he was gone.
Now it was my turn.
“I hope the two of you will return together safe and sound.”
Standing at the place of the bell painting, the Chief Apostle called out to me softly.
I gave him a small nod, though I was uncomfortable with the urgent sound of his voice, which could be interpreted as a hint of sadness or concern.
Then my body melted into the white light.
