My Childhood Friend is a Yandere - Chapter 5
March begins with deep slumber
I had a very happy dream.
It was a gentle dream of a girl I had known since childhood, teary-eyed and beaming.
From when in the world our relationship became distorted. We were always crossing paths, like gears that don’t fit together, squeaking and turning.
“Yu-kun, Yu-kun, wake up.”
My body shook with a cute voice. When I woke up with sleepy eyes, my childhood friend, a junior high school girl, was calling my name.
The room was slightly bright, but it was probably still night at the time.
I rubbed my eyes to clear my blurry vision,
“What is it……..what time is it…….”
When asked, Ginchiyo answered like a time announcement. TL/nIt refers to a public announcement made at regular intervals throughout the day, usually over loudspeakers in public places, to indicate the current time
“5:43:21 AM”
“You’re insane. …… Damn, you did it. …… I told you not to enter my room without permission.”
“That doesn’t matter. If you don’t hurry, you’ll never make it in time.”
As if I’d do that. Before my anger could boil over, I felt sleepy.
“Hey, hurry”
She forced me to sit up.
“3 2 1, Yes!”
Nodding like a zombie, I heard the end of the mysterious countdown. Ginchiyo crackled and clapped.
“Yu-kun, Happy Birthday!”
“……Are you serious…..”
As it was, she started singing a birthday song. It annoyed me that she had such a beautiful voice. After the song was over, I spontaneously mumbled something before saying thank you.
“What time do you think it is…”
“It’s 5:43:57 a.m. Yu-kun was born exactly 15 years ago. Ginchiyo always thanks God for bringing Yu-kun into this world.”
Then you can thank my father and mother. When I tried to cover myself with a blanket in my foggy consciousness, Ginchiyo stopped me.
“Wait for a little bit more, hora, Yu-kun”
Ginchiyo opened the curtains to reveal a pale, bloody sky and said, no, I’m too sleepy to understand what’s going on. The sky was white. It would soon be morning. Birds were beginning to sing.
“What the h*ll is this…..”
I was too sleepy to yell at her. That’s how great my need for sleep was.
“Look, it’s a beautiful sunrise.”
As soon as Ginchiyo whispered, the morning sun shot through the curtains into both my eyes. Gaaaah
“Lovely Dawn…… Fifteen years ago, it was just as clear as today. It’s shining like a blessing for the future of Yu-kun and Ginchiyo.”
Ginchiyo muttered with an enraptured expression.
I will never forget that last year, when it was cloudy, she said, “The weather seems to suggest that the future of the two of you is going to get better and better,”
And the year before, when it rained, she said, “I guess the heavens are shedding tears of regret because they are jealous of how well we get along.”
Damn it, she invaded my room on my birthday every time, so I even used reinforced glass to put on support locks this year.
“Huh?”
The windowpane behind the open curtains; it was indeed closed. The lock was still locked.
“Nn?”
I looked at the door to the entrance of the room. it was locked.
“Nn?”
I looked at Ginchiyo. She was smiling.
“Excuse me. You, from where did you come in?”
“Through the door.”
Ginchiyo looked away. She had a habit of not being able to look me in the eye when she had something to hide.
“No, the door’s closed. What happened to the lock?”
“It was open when Ginchiyo came in.”
“No, I definitely locked the door before I went to bed.”
I closed the door while checking with my finger, so I am sure it was closed. This room was completely closed off.
It was a means of self-defense to escape from Ginchiyo, who tried to celebrate my birthday at a troublesome time every year.
“How did you get in ……”
“From the entrance. It was unlocked.”
If you believe Ginchiyo’s defense that she would not lie to me like an honest village dweller, there was only one conclusion to be drawn.
“Could it be that you invaded this room before me and hid?”
“……..”
“No way, you were hiding under the bed again!”
“…….”
Ginchiyo nodded silently.
“Daaah! I told you to stop doing that, it’s scary!”
“Birthday surprise…”
“That’s just horror!”
Hello from under the bed, this was the second time in total.
“Seriously, when did you become like this? You used to be rather normal!”
As she turned her head, Ginchiyo muttered to herself with a scowl on her face.
“I don’t know what state of …… normal is, but Ginchiyo is just living honestly. She just likes what she likes.”
“I’m just asking you to think a little more about how you communicate. Even Gandhi would be pissed if he was woken up early in the morning.” TL/nIf you don’t get reference, Gandhi was a very non-violent, peaceful protester against Britain, kind of like Buddha
“I just wanted to say congratulations before anyone else. …… Sorry, Yu-kun, that was annoying……”
The part that pissed me off was that she thinks she’ll be forgiven if she behaved in an admirable manner.
“Just go home. I’m gonna go back to sleep.”
I had classes today. It was still a little early for spring break.
“Un. Good night.”
Ginchiyo nodded, bent down, and tried to crawl under the bed.
“That ain’t your house!”
“Ah! I made a natural mistake! It’s like a second house for Ginchiyo.”
“That’s enough, just get out”
“Un. See you later. Good night.”
She opened the window and left. A little cold air blew into the room. Ginchiyo lived nearby and often came and went through the window.
With the spring breeze at dawn, the storm finally passed and calm returned.
“Fuu~”
I sighed, lifted the blanket up to my nose, and closed my eyes. I was soon able to fall asleep.
My whole body melted away, and I lost consciousness.
Seriously, I wonder what she is.
Anger was eventually coated in sleep.
A pleasant dream began as I contemplated the cherry buds beginning to bloom beyond the window.
It was a memory called a dream.
