Chapter 3: The First Day of Captivity
[MC POV]
I wake up again. My head is clearer now—no more hangover, no more sluggish thoughts. But something still feels off.
I try to shift my legs.
Clink.
…Wait… what?
I lift the covers and—
“Ah.”
Chains. Around my ankles.
Not again. And… yeap, this is locked.
I take a deep breath. Okay. Let’s assess the situation.
1. I’m in Miyuki’s absurdly extravagant house. Which she calls, ‘Our Love Nest’
2. She confessed—or rather, forcefully declared—we’re dating. Partly I am at fault. Maybe.
3. I tried to leave. Why can’t I remember that correctly?
4. She… must have ensured I wouldn’t.
And now, I’m shackled like some kind of pet.
“You’re awake~”
I flinch. Miyuki is sitting on a chair beside the bed, watching me like a cat stalking a mouse. She’s holding a cup of tea, completely composed, like she didn’t just put me in actual chains.
“Miyuki,” I say as calmly as possible, “Why am I chained to the bed?”
She smiles. “Because you tried to run away, silly.”
“…That’s a crime, you know?”
“Ara? What crime? Keeping my boyfriend safe and secure? That sounds like love to me.”
“False imprisonment.”
“Mutual commitment.”
I stare at her. She takes a slow sip of tea.
“…At least tell me this is temporary.”
“Of course!”
Thank god—
“Once you stop being difficult.”
Never mind.
I run a hand down my face. “Miyuki… You do realize how insane this is, right?”
She pouts. “You’re being dramatic.”
I lift my chained ankle. “Am I?”
Instead of answering, Miyuki leans forward, resting her chin on her hands. Her eyes glimmer with something unsettling.
“You don’t understand, do you, Natsume?”
I swallow. “Understand what?”
She giggles. “That I’ve already won.”
The room feels smaller.
“You spent years chasing girls who never saw you the way I do,” she continues. “Years ignoring the one person who was always by your side. I waited. I watched. I let you be free.”
Her smile widens.
“And every time you got your heart broken, who was there to pick up the pieces?”
I exhale sharply. “…You.”
“That’s right~” She twirls a strand of hair. “But you never noticed, did you? Even after all the hints, all the opportunities, you kept looking elsewhere.”
Her voice drops to a whisper.
“So I realized… If I want you to stay by my side, I just have to make sure you can’t leave.”
Goosebumps crawl up my skin.
“…You’re serious about this.”
“Mm-mhmm~!”
“Miyuki. This is crazy.”
She sighs dramatically. “You keep saying that. But if I were really crazy, don’t you think I’d do something much worse?”
I don’t answer. I don’t want to agree to that, even though that’s technically true.
She leans closer, brushing her fingers against my cheek. “But I won’t, because I love you. And once you accept that, we can be happy together.”
I tense.
She stands up suddenly, dusting off her dress. “Now then, I’ll go prepare breakfast! Be a good boy and wait here, okay~?”
And with that, she waltzes out of the room, humming.
I glance at my chained ankles.
I need to get out of here.
But more than that—
I think I need to survive.
What do you mean you need to survive? You will be absolutely fine by staying there~
He needs to survive getting drained…
