Chapter 23: A Love That Can No Longer Be Contained
[Natsume’s POV]
The moment I stepped through the door, I was met with silence. The house was warm, the faint scent of something delicious lingering in the air, yet there was an unmistakable tension.
And then—
A blur of motion, soft warmth crashing against my chest.
I barely had time to react before a pair of trembling arms wrapped around me, pulling me close as if I might vanish if she let go.
Miyuki.
She was shaking.
My breath caught in my throat as I felt her clutching onto me with everything she had, her fingers digging into the fabric of my shirt.
I looked down—
And what I saw made my chest tighten.
Tears.
Her long lashes were wet, her violet eyes glossy and filled with raw, unfiltered emotion. Her lips trembled, her breath uneven, and before I could even ask what was wrong, she buried her face into my chest.
“I can’t withstand this anymore…” she whispered, her voice breaking.
I froze.
“Miyuki—”
“I hate this.” She gripped my shirt even tighter, her small body pressing desperately against mine. “I hate this feeling—I hate how I feel whenever you leave, whenever I see you with her…”
Her voice hitched, and I could feel her tears dampening my shirt.
“…I hate that I can’t stand it.”
I exhaled slowly, realization hitting me like a wave.
This was different.
This wasn’t the usual Miyuki who hid behind teasing smiles and playful possessiveness.
This was real.
I reached up, gently cupping her face, tilting her head back so she had no choice but to look at me.
Her tear-streaked face, the vulnerability in her expression—
It shattered me.
I brushed my thumb along her cheek, wiping away the wetness.
“You’re crying,” I murmured.
She let out a weak, shaky laugh, her lips curling into something that wasn’t quite a smile. “I know.”
I searched her face, my heart pounding against my ribs. “Why?”
She bit her lower lip, hesitating. Then, finally, she whispered—
“Because I need you.”
The words sent a jolt through me.
Her eyes burned into mine, filled with desperation, with something she could no longer hold back.
“Natsume…” She reached up, her fingers trembling as they traced along my jawline. “I don’t want to be left behind. I don’t want you to belong to someone else.”
Her breathing hitched.
“I won’t let you belong to someone else. I can’t see that happen.”
I felt something inside me snap.
Before she could say another word, I crashed my lips against hers.
She gasped, a soft, breathless sound, before melting into me completely.
The kiss wasn’t gentle. It was hungry, desperate—like she wanted to consume me, to make sure I could never be taken away.
Her fingers curled into my hair, pulling me closer, deeper.
I pressed her against the nearest wall, my hands trailing down her waist, feeling every inch of her shivering under my touch.
She whimpered against my lips, her breathing ragged.
“More,” she whispered. “I need more.”
Her plea sent heat rushing through my veins.
I lifted her effortlessly, her legs wrapping around my waist as I carried her further inside.
She gasped as I laid her down onto the couch, hovering over her, my hands tracing along her sides.
Her cheeks were flushed, her lips swollen from our kiss, and yet—
Her eyes burned with something more.
Something unrestrained.
“Natsume…” Her fingers tugged at my shirt, her voice dripping with longing. “Make me forget.”
I swallowed hard.
There was no hesitation in her voice.
No more teasing.
No more games.
This was real.
I leaned down, my lips trailing along the curve of her neck, feeling her shiver beneath me.
She gasped, her back arching slightly as my hands explored every inch of her, memorizing the way she trembled under my touch.
She was intoxicating—
And she wanted this.
She needed this.
Her nails dug into my shoulders, her breath coming in quick, uneven bursts.
“Natsume…” she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.
I captured her lips again, drowning in her warmth, in her desperation, in her.
This wasn’t just about desire.
This was something deeper.
Something that had been building for too long.
Something that neither of us could hold back any longer.
I was hers.
And she was mine.
And tonight—
I would prove it.
I would make sure she never doubted it again.
I will make her forget all her doubts.
