- Chapter 073: Letter of Recommendation
A dark, empty classroom.
Two teachers, dressed in gorgeous green Dragon Robes, were talking in secret.
“So, what does Fūyō think?”
“We owe Kishō and the Princess a debt, after all.”
The short, young girl teacher nodded in response to the tall female teacher’s words.
“Then, it is fine to say you agree.”
“Yes, that is fine. But are you, Teacher Mi’on, fine with this yourself?”
“I have confirmed his skill in swordsmanship. If it’s purely that, it would be fine to label it as first-class. No wonder Princess Kuroyo fell in love with him.”
“In other words, you mean it will pass muster even in the Upper School?”
“Ah, he should be able to manage sufficiently.”
The two female teachers simultaneously curled up the corners of their mouths.
◇◇◇◇◇
Three months had passed since the Elesia Ichnosis Incident, and the season had entered early winter.
A room like a prison, built of thick stone walls. The repair of her heavily damaged private room had finally finished, and Fūyō, now able to settle down, breathed out a white sigh on the reception sofa.
The chilly gray room was filled with cold air.
“Excuse me.”
A voice called out, and the iron door of the preparation room opened.
The one who appeared was a girl with blonde hair and blue eyes. Dressed in a black maid outfit—a Western waitress uniform—she brought three teacups on a tray. After placing them neatly on the reception table, she pressed the silver tray to her chest and bowed respectfully.
“You’ve done enough here already, so you may rest, you know.”
“Yes. May I go to where Kishō is?”
“Again? Can’t be helped, I suppose.”
Obtaining Fūyō’s permission, the blonde girl—Alice—left the room happily.
Fūyō lowered her gaze. Then, vertical ringlet curls and thick makeup entered her sight. Jerking her chin, Meika spoke.
“So? What is the business for calling me out expressly?”
Fūyō sat deeply on the sofa, her feet dangling above the floor. She directed her gaze to Mi’on, seated on her right. Mi’on lifted a teacup and spoke after a sip of black tea.
“I intend to issue a letter of recommendation.”
Meika furrowed her brows.
“Seikan does not seem to desire a transfer to the Upper School.”
“Not Seikan. It is Kishō’s letter of recommendation.”
“Haah!?”
Meika stood abruptly.
“Why is there a need to call me for the matter of that student’s letter of recommendation!?”
“A letter of recommendation to the Upper School requires the consent of three teachers.”
Adjusting her triangular glasses, Mi’on spoke calmly.
“I am fully aware of such a thing! What I am saying is—why must I cooperate for the sake of that hateful brat!”
“Other teachers are unsuitable. Their thinking is too rigid.”
“You know I loathe that student the most.”
“But even so, Meika is fair, right?”
“Fair? Judging whether promotion to the Upper School is appropriate is fairness.”
Their gazes clashed.
“Fuaa.”
Fūyō yawned loudly.
“But Teacher Meika, you stopped calling him incompetent, didn’t you? Even now. You called him a hateful brat instead. Why is that?”
The Elesia Ichnosis Incident left a deep scar on the academy.
Though no human casualties occurred, the fact that an active teacher had fallen victim—and gone undiscovered for so long—shook the academy.
Moreover, a “Warrior Princess,” second only to the Six Consorts, had been deceived.
“The ones who cleared that stigma were Kishō and Princess Kuroyo, you see. Doesn’t that mean Teacher Meika has already acknowledged his ability?”
Meika bit her lip.
Mi’on sighed.
“We misjudged him due to his lack of Attribute Affinity. That responsibility lies with all teachers.”
“I hear he deflected Princess Kuroyo’s armed breath with a mock sword.”
“Haa…?”
“It is recorded. The Princess was armed at the time.”
Silence fell.
“There is also a flaw in the academy’s evaluation system,” Fūyō continued.
“Kishō could score 1000 points in swordsmanship, but only 100 were counted.”
Meika clenched her teeth.
“Upper School students are monsters who exceed that scale.”
“Yes. And one of those monsters is Princess Kuroyo.”
“The Princess is the top first-year student. Neutralizing her is sufficient proof, is it not?”
Meika sighed and sat.
“…I understand. However—”
“We must be fair,” Mi’on said firmly.
“Even if conjecture is necessary elsewhere, not here.”
Fūyō smiled.
“This is a ship on the crossing for Lady Seiran too.”
She popped a candy into her mouth and grinned wickedly.
“Besides, there are merits for us as well, you see.”

Does this mean that they will separate from Oka? That would suck man, she’s the best wingman and as Kuroyo said worthy of the First Consort position that Oka gladly gave away for Kisho
