- My Beautiful Childhood Friend Is Working in a Maid Cafe For Some Reason
- Chapter 91 - The Annoying Junior's Strange Behavior (5)
As a fellow girl, Yukina’s anger may have been far greater than mine.
It was the first time I had seen Yukina this openly enraged, and for a moment, I didn’t know what to do.
“Y-Yukina…isn’t violence a bad idea?”
“Yuu-kun, be quiet. I can’t stand this anymore.”
Even though I tried to stop her, it didn’t seem like Yukina was calming down. She was completely furious, glaring at Kurano, whose cheek was red and swollen, with a wild look in her eyes.
“You know, I could spread the word that the princess is actually a violent queen,” Kurano taunted as he rubbed his swollen cheek. Normally, a calm Yukina wouldn’t rise to such provocations.
But the Yukina who was on the verge of losing herself raised her hand again.
I quickly grabbed that hand to stop her.
“Let go, Yuu-kun! I won’t be satisfied until I hit him more!”
Yukina struggled violently, but I didn’t let go. I couldn’t let go.
“I understand how you feel, Yukina. But you don’t need to dirty yourself for someone like this scumbag.”
“But…”
If Yukina continued like this, I hated to think she would be tarnished by her actions. It’s good that she could get this angry for someone else, but I didn’t want her to dirty herself because of it.
Just then, Tadokoro, who had been silent until now, spoke up.
“…She’s right. Yukina-senpai doesn’t need to go that far for my sake.”
Tadokoro walked up and stood in front of Kurano.
“You know what? The only reason the photos you took got attention was because Yukina-senpai was in them. It’s thanks to her. No one cares about you. Your existence means nothing to anyone.”
Tadokoro completely denied Kurano’s existence.
“Yet here you are, hyping yourself up alone and wasting your time like a fool. In the end, without Yukina-senpai, you can’t even get attention by yourself. It’s so pitiful, it’s laughable!”
Whether she was pitying or angry…likely the latter, Tadokoro’s words were sharp. Kurano stood up from his chair and tried to punch Tadokoro.
Kurano’s fist stretched towards Tadokoro’s face. Tadokoro closed her eyes. But Kurano’s punch never landed.
“Don’t lay a hand on my junior.”
“…Akiba-senpai.”
From the side, Akiba grabbed Kurano’s arm.
The punch stopped just in time, and Tadokoro blinked in surprise, clearly taken aback.
“Tch…”
Kurano pulled his arm back and sat down. Akiba also quietly sat back down and said nothing more.
“You can let go now, Yuu-kun. It’s fine.”
When I released Yukina’s arm, she walked up to Kurano.
“If you take another photo of me without permission, I’ll report you for illegal photography. And if you’re thinking of posting it online for revenge, don’t bother. My father’s a high-ranking police officer. If it’s for me, he’ll hunt you down to the ends of the earth and catch you…You get what I’m saying, right?”
Yukina smiled sweetly. Of course, she wasn’t smiling out of joy. She was smiling to intimidate.
“If I report this incident right now, what do you think will happen to you? There are three victims here…Your family will be disgraced, you might get suspended…or, at worst, expelled.”
This time, Yukina smiled again, as if picturing it in her mind.
Even from where I stood, her smile was terrifying.
But Yukina was right. We were illegally photographed, and those photos were published online. Both Yukina and Tadokoro, as well as I, were the victims. If reported to the teachers, Kurano wouldn’t have a leg to stand on and would face the consequences Yukina mentioned.
If Yukina truly hated me, she might have said the same thing to me…
From now on, I swear I will never carelessly take someone’s picture again. Looking at Kurano, he was trembling, though I didn’t know why.
“If you really regret what you’ve done, then swear you’ll never do it again. Otherwise…you know what will happen, right?”
Yukina acted as if she could decide whether Kurano’s life would continue or end.
To Kurano, Yukina must have looked less like a princess or a violent queen, and more like a demon. He seemed on the verge of tears.
Yukina spun elegantly and walked towards me.
“Yuu-kun, do you have a handkerchief?”
I handed her one without a word, unsure of what she needed it for. Yukina began wiping her hands vigorously.
“W-What are you doing?”
“Sorry, Yuu-kun. I’ll wash the handkerchief and return it. My hands are itchy. Probably because I touched something dirty.”
Yukina’s anger had completely vanished. Now, she was entirely focused on wiping her hands.
Seeing this, Kurano stood up abruptly and bowed deeply.
“I-I’m sorry! I’ll never do it again!”
He ran out of the classroom. As he passed by, I noticed Kurano’s eyes were slightly wet.
I’m sure his heart had broken after being rejected, threatened, and treated as filth. If it were me, I would have broken up long ago.
But he had done enough to deserve it. I hope he learned his lesson and never makes the same mistake again.
“Thank you, Yuu-kun. I’ll take this handkerchief with me.”
Yukina acted as if she had completely lost interest in Kurano. It was as if she had a short attention span.
If my bad luck with Yukina had run out and she had grown tired of me, I wouldn’t be standing so close to her now…The thought sent chills down my spine.
“…Th-Thank you, Yukina-senpai.”
“Don’t worry about it. I just got angry. Besides, I was actually illegally photographed, so I had every right to be mad. Yuu-kun also went through something terrible because of it, and my junior here was scared too.”
Yukina crossed her arms, still angry but now in a much cuter way than before.
“Haha…I didn’t know. Yukina-senpai’s father is a high-ranking police officer?”
“Oh? That was a lie. Things don’t work out that conveniently in the world.”
“A lie?!”
I knew the truth. Yukina’s father was just an ordinary office worker. A very kind office worker.
But I didn’t bother to say that. People tend to believe what a beautiful girl says for some reason. And when that beautiful girl is angry, the believability skyrockets. Kurano was completely deceived by that lie, which led to his defeat.
“Yukina-senpai, you’re amazing…”
“That idiot will live in fear from now on. We’ve won!”
Yukina smiled brightly and made a peace sign. It was the look of someone who had just defeated a wicked enemy. Right now, Yukina didn’t seem like a demon king at all, but rather an angel.
But somehow, that smile felt forced…I couldn’t shake that feeling.
