Mob's Yandere!? - Chapter 98- The hunt~2
What does it feel like to be lame? Ask Karen. She can answer that in an instant. After all, currently, she was feeling it.
Lame.
When she thought she got the upper hand since she was a vampire and sensing blood was her forté, she completely forgot to notice the scale of the monster she intended to exterminate.
Her attack failed since the rattlesnake she attacked had good instincts and phenomenal camouflage. Karen ended up attacking nothing but the branch of the tree, and before she could move away, the serpent coiled its massive body around her—rendering the young vampire motionless.
If not for Sufi’s timely reaction, Kei might have to rip the snake open to rescue his wife.
Currently, she was sitting under a tree with a saddened look. She could feel the mocking in Yuna’s eyes and the amusement Kaori’s eyes contained.
Although Karen couldn’t see any evident reaction from Sufi, in her heart she must be laughing at Karen’s foolishness as well.
Ugh….so foolish of me!
Kei could read her like a book as he walked towards Karen before crouching down and resting his hands on her lap.
Karen didn’t look up at him and uttered in a dejected voice, “You must be thinking that I am childish, no?”
Kei smiled at her before cupping her cheeks and making her look at him.
Karen reluctantly raised her eyes since she knew once she looked at him, she would get easily consoled. And as she thought, the moment her eyes landed on the brightest pair of crimson eyes, she found herself becoming intoxicated.
Kei softly brushed her hair and asked her, “Does it hurt somewhere?”
His whisper was met by a slow shake of her head in denial.
Holding her hand in a delicate grip he inched closer and told her, “But it hurts me.”
A flash of concern reflected in her eyes as she frowned and asked in a rush, “Where? How did you get hurt?”
She assumed that because of the core upgradation of the earth, he might still be tired. Or maybe he got injured while saving her?! That thought made her feel both guilty and concerned.
However, Kei shook his head and stated the reason, “It hurts me to see how reckless you were just now. Although I wouldn’t have let anything happen to you, even the small injuries would have pained me greatly.”
Karen’s shoulders dropped, in both relief and dejection as she innocently voiced, “I-I wanted to make myself look worthy to be your wife in front of them.” She glanced at the others when she said that.
Kei softly reprimanded her, “What’s worth? I never fell for you because of your worth or how strong you are. Remember the first time we met you were like a little tyrant who was trying to corner me and threaten me so you can save your mother?”
His words that held the memories of their past made her nod slowly and her eyes contained no previous sadness.
Kei’s grip on her hand became a little firm as he added, “I fell for that caring girl who can go against anyone to save her mother. And that daring vampire who barged into my life and made me completely mad in love with her.”
By now, her cheeks were dyed red and her eyes were a little moist. She wasn’t crying out of sadness; rather, she felt elated to hear his confession. Although they have expressed their feelings to each other many times, hearing Kei how much he loves her always soothes her heart, and at the same time, it sets her heart ablaze.
“Kei…” She slowly raised her hand and rested it against his cheek as her body tilted forward.
The intoxicated look in her eyes was inviting his whole being to just kiss her right away—but,
“Can you stop releasing your bloodlust?”
Karen was broken out of her daze before she turned to look at her surroundings.
“—-!!” Her eyes widened to see that in the places where the Yuna stood, a crater had formed, and every living being from their surroundings had long escaped from the aura she was radiating.
“Yuna…you do know how much your aura could have affected her right?” Kei, with a stern look, turned to look at Yuna.
If he hadn’t enshrouded Karen under a protective barrier, then more than that serpent, Yuna, would have hurt her.
Yuna had her hands crossed on her chest and a look of exasperation on her face as she turned away from him. However, she slowly released her aura, allowing Kei to relax a bit.
“You know Yuna, this isn’t-*cough*” Just as he got up, intending to approach Yuna, he coughed up blood and staggered on his feet.
“Kei!”
“Lord husband!”
“Kei!”
The three moved in sync and supported Kei from three directions.
“I am okay…” He assured them, and he wasn’t hurt, just a little exhausted.
He looked at Yuna, who had also turned to look at him, but seeing his condition, suddenly, a violent surge of regret and self-frustration arose in her.
Moisture built in her eyes and before Kei could have called out, she unfurled her wings and flew away, leaving dust behind.
“My lord…I think you need to take a gentler approach with her.” Sufi uttered in a low voice, clearly being hesitant whether she should be saying this or not.
However, Kei wasn’t offended. Sufi wasn’t just a remarkable Empress but a very good advisor as well.
Indeed he acted harshly with her. Kei knows Yuna better than anyone. Until some months ago, she dreamt of being the only mate of Kei and now Kei was suddenly asking her to compromise and behave against her usual personality.
He was being insensitive.
Turning toward the others with a regretful look, he asked them, “I am sorry for ruining the trip…but can you return to the palace? I might need some time to bring her back.”
Sufi instantly nodded, understanding her husband’s situation. Karen as well, slowly nodded—not wanting to elevate his worries.
However, Kaori was reluctant and said, “I am not going to leave you alone in your current situation.”
“But Kaorin….you know she wouldn’t like you being there right?” Kei reproached.
But Kaori remained resolute as she added, “I won’t come between you two but until you find her, I want to be with you.”
She was no longer asking but was determined to follow him.
Kei was reminded of that time when Kaori used to act like his and Ryuuta’s older sister and took care of them during their childhood.
With a smile adorning his lips—that made the other three breathless—he said,
“Okay then…let’s go.”
