- Chapter 6.2: Unbeknownst Hero: Wolves, Mentors, and Surprises
There was no battle in the first place. It was that one-sided, I allowed my calculation infused instincts guide me, subtly utilizing every information of the world around me. My movements were fluid and precise, the wolves couldn’t even notice what hit them. With smooth attacks, my sword cleaved their body in half, yet not allowing the body to drop to the ground.
No one knew what happened. Even if the wolf was killed, maybe even then wolf didn’t know that, least the surrounding wolves. It was standing like some idol. Each strike I made was completely ordinary but carried an underlying finesse that fueled it to that degree.
The girls were shocked to see how I moved without letting any wolf know what I was doing, … ——Ah never-mind, now I can see disgust in their eyes. Did these bit*hes think that my strike didn’t kill them? *shrugs* What about the evil men…tor, hmm, he looks shocked? Ohhh, maybe that is the sort of play he has planned to do. I wonder if the evil mentor in hiding found out that I was tapping into a well of magical energy, allowing me to anticipate the wolf’s movements and strike with impeccable timing.
Throughout the encounter, some touch of irony played out every moment. Even the wolf’s size and ferocity seemed daunting, yet they were effortlessly slain as it were just some false construction. Ah yes, forgot to mention, the girls who loved to remain scared despite … Well, they couldn’t even understand that these wolves were being killed without even the wolves knowing themselves about it. So I guess it can’t be helped. Well, regardless, they can never come to the evil side with such low sight.
In the end, after slaying all of the wolves, I stood in front of those wolves.
“WHAT THE F*C* ARE YOU—- … Eh?”
The wolves on knowing my existence, tried to move; and their body separated into two.
There were two wolves who didn’t move and saw that.
Aww… Such cute creatures, they had tears in their eyes. Trembling and trying their best to not move.
Ah, one moved. Welp, it died.
Perhaps understanding that happen, the other, only surviving wolf started wailing without opening it’s mouth.
“End it’s suffering already. Even a demon king doesn’t give such pain to those who are about to die.”
As expected of my to be evil mentor. He understands a demon king very well. Yup, he passed my test as well.
With a gust of wind from nowhere, the last remaining wolf’s upper body also slid down.
The gazes of those girls were completely fixed upon me.
Discarding those gaze, I sheathed my sword. Ah, I need to be humble.
A humble smile curved upon my lips, concealing the true extent of my powers and intentions. Taking the hero-aero-dynamic posture, I approached them once again, asking whether they were ok. Ahahaha, what is that cute blush~ makes me want to deteriorate those fac—- ehm! ehm! I need to maintain the posture.
And so, my journey continued, the world unfolding its secrets while I remained oblivious to the impact I unintentionally left with my actions.
“Damn it Maximus! I can’t believe you, even though you said that a hero would be joining us for this task along the way. I’m going to report you to the guild and church right away,” the girl exclaimed in frustration, her words dripping with rage and annoyance.
“What ‘Trusty Assistant’! That guy ran away saying he would bring reinforcements as soon as the subjugation began and never came back!” Another girl butted in with hands making a fist.
“Where is even the so called Hero you were talking about! I can definitely bet that the guy that ran away was your so-called Hero. Pry tell me, c’mon, I am all ears. Goddammit, we would have been dead if not for that man!” The third girl said furiously.
Maximus, was clearly flustered, attempted to defend himself, but his efforts fell flat. He seemed at a loss for words, unable to conjure any convincing argument to counter the girl’s accusations.
While on another side,
In the midst of their heated exchange, a girl turned her attention towards me once again, and with a blushed yet piercing gaze with an air of inquisitive stepped closer. her movement were graceful and deliberate.
“What’s your name?” she asked, her voice tinged with curiosity.
“Zephyrath,” I replied, with my tone as calm and composed as a hero.
A faint smile played upon her lips as she held her sword and fiddled with it’s handle. Her sight then went towards my sword, with an inspecting and discerning gaze.
Her appearance hadn’t caught my attention until now, but now that I see her clearly, she has this stunning blue hair and …such captivating turquoise eyes.
She kind of gave off an air of something ethereal about her. Somewhat akin to that of an idol, were it not for her traditional priestess attire she wore.
“You have a promising future,” she declared, her voice holding a hint of admiration. She gestured towards me, emphasizing her point. “We could use heroes like you.”
And then, the two points connected,
The bewildered yet assertive expression-ed Maximus’ faced and pointed towards me, with his next words being,
“… this is the hero I was talking about.”
